Grandia II Cheats & Tips

You can kill Melfice in Cyrum when you first meet him.
It indeed can be done easily, without cheats, though it will:
- take well over half an hour (if you're thorough).
- help to have the most powerful gear you can get to that point.
- drain a lot of gold for recovery items & gear.
- force you to consider power-levelling all your characters above what they should be, on average, that far into the game.
- make you max out every skill, special move, & relevant spell you'll use.
- not let you off the hook fighting him again later.
- not give you any reward of any kind, including EXP, except seeing his "was my faith misplaced?" death animation early.

But you will win and get to say you did.

::::::::::STEP 1: PREP
Right after you defeat & free Tio, get everything together, change gear/skills/level up everyone properly, & go buy items if you need to. You don't even really need to save, this method is so effective.

- Ryudo: max out Flying Tenseiken, max out & double-equip Strength skill, equip best available sword, armor, & accessories that up ATK stat
- Millenia: max out Spellbinding Eye, max out Intelligence skill (optional)
- Mareg: max out Beast-King Smash, equip best available axe, armor, & accessories that up ATK stat
- Roan: max out & double-equip Skilled Item Use skill, max out Item Recovery skill, max out Speed skill, equip best headgear, shoes, & accessories that up AGI stat
[ ]___items
:::10-15 Blueberries (30 or so if thorough, meaning killing not only Melfice, but the Sword & Regenerator as well)
:::15-20 Butter Rolls (35 or so if thorough)

:::Myriad Power Nuts: 5-10 depending on Ryudo/Mareg's proximity to each other

::::::::::STEP 2: MAKE MELFICE WEAK/PARTY STRONG
- Melfice must be at -5 DEF & Ryudo/Mareg must be +5 ATK before attacking head on; Millenia's ATK can be upped for faster Spellbinding Eye latent damage, but it's not necessary. The best scenario is Millenia going first blood & locking up Melfice with Spellbinding Eye before he can do anything; if this happens, you will not be hit once unless you make a series of serious mistakes.
***Make sure Millenia starts by - & continues - casting Spellbinding Eye, EVERY turn she gets. You can get by missing it once, maybe even twice, but you may get attacked for it.***

There are two ways to go about this step:
[option 1]___mana eggs & spells
Magic is otherwise useless; use with any character except Millenia

- Max out Def-Loss; target Melfice

- Max out Def-Loss; target Melfice
- Max out WOW!; target Ryudo & Mareg
[option 2]___items
Technically more efficient than the spell method, but will cost more money for buying them or time for item-farming enemies for drops
:::Weakness Nuts: 5 on Melfice (& Sword, Regenerator by proxy)
:::Myriad Power Nuts: 5-10 depending on Ryudo/Mareg's proximity to each other

You may have to have Roan replenish Millenia's SP once or twice with Butter Rolls or Blueberries while you do this step, as each Spellbinding Eye costs 90 SP.
Once Melfice is weak & the attackers are strengthened, start the war.

::::::::::STEP 3: WIN
[ ]___Every turn:
- Ryudo: Flying Tenseiken (1600+ damage usu.)
- Mareg: Beast-King Smash (1000+ damage usu.)
- Millenia: Spellbinding Eye (6-12 damage every few seconds)
- Roan: [A] use items: Blueberries (+25 SP) on Ryudo & Mareg, Butter Rolls (+50 SP) on Millenia or [B] if they're not hurting for SP - & he happens to be +5 ATK too - use Dragon Rise on something, anything

Roan's main focus is to throw those Blueberries & Butter Rolls to everyone so they can keep using their special moves. With his now-insane IP speed & recovery for item usage, he should be able to deploy 3 items or so before ANYONE else can do anything.

Melfice cannot attack in any way, as long as Spellbinding Eye keeps him locked. He has the exact same HP he has later in the game, so expect to be here awhile. You can be unreasonably thorough like me and kill all three parts, or just focus on Melfice, which is considerably faster.

And don't bother using any other attacks of any kind, because they will all fail outright or have very little effect, even in his -5 DEF state.
Keep hammering away at him and if you've done it right, he will die every time, though there is no reward or item that will prove you did it. Just pride.

TO GET THESE ITEMS WHEN YOU COME BACK TO CYRUM KINGDOM THE SECOND TIME GO TO RAUL HILLS IT WILL BE A SPECIAL STAGE. GET ON THE BOAT.WHEN YOU GET OFF THE BOAT GO STRAIGHT AND THEN THERE WILL BE 2 PATH GO THE LEFT PATH TO RAUL HILL 1 THEN GO RIGHT THEN KEEP ON GOING YOU WILL SEE MONEY AND WEOPONS FORMED A CIRCLE IF YOU GO THE OTHER PATH WHEN YOU GET OFF THE BOAT YOU'LL SEE A SAVE POINT WHEN YOU CROSS THE BRIDGE THATS A GOOD PLACE TO TRAIN WHEN YOU COME TO THE SAVE POINT KEEP EDXPLORING THE SAVE POINT NEAREST PLACE YOU WILL EVENTUALLY FIND A FEW SNOW LEOPARDS. THEY HAVE 4600HP THEY ARE EASY YOU JUST USE A LOTUS FLOWER AND A SKY DRAGON SLASH THEN THEY ARE ALL DEAD WHEN YOU ARE DONE GO TO THE SAVE POINT AND RECOVER THEN KEEP ON DOING THAT AGAIN AND AGAIN
!!!!BEWARE OF DEVILS IN THE RAUL HILLS 1 RUINS DONT GO THERE BECAUSE IF YOU ACCIDENTLY GET A BACK ATTACK THEY WILL USE BA-BOOM!IT HURTS ABOUT 4000-5000HP TO GET TO THE RUINS CROSS THE BRIDGE AND THEN GO RIGHT AND FIND A PLACE THAT YOU CAN GO TO RAUL HILLS 1 WHEN YOU GET THERE THERE ARE A LOT OF DEVILS SO IM WARNING YOU DONT GO THERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!(WELL IF YOU GO THERE THERE ARE LOTS OF GOOD ITEMS.)

After finishing the eyes of Valmar, Millinea will get the Spellbinding Eye move. Play this every time you fight bosses with Millinea. The monster you use this spell on will do nothing and stay at one place, and you can attack it without worrying of getting hit by it.

The effect has time limit though, depends on the level you have for the the spell.

PS: Best use when you fight Valmar's parts after beating the core and fake Millinea. ^^

To get the Book Of War, win the Walnut game six times. When you return from the game, they will give you the Book Of War.

After you get Roan for the second time, leave Cyrum Kingdom and go to Raul Hills and it will be a special stage. Go through there and get to the ruins in Raul Hills 1. When you get to the ruins you will encounter Devils. They are extremely hard to fight. Ice will work best but make sure you have items that refill SP and MP because there are no recovery spots, and if you go back the enemies will reappear. Inside the ruins are items including armor, an item that doubles SP earned, one that doubles EXP earned, and one that gives you 1000 Magic Coins. The Fairy egg can be found on top the highest pillar.

Ok, i saw this as a pretty cheap way to kill everyone but hey it works, theres a part in the game where you're going down this path like mountain, and in that section there's these lil bird enemies you fight that give u win seeds/agility seeds i forgot what theyre called, but just keep on fighting them and going in and out of the stage until u get like 50 of them, and as ur doing this ur also getting ur experience so then by the time u get that many seeds, ur people will be pretty fast already so once u add on the seeds, youll be faster than any boss

When you get to Roan's hometown, go to the sailor's house. When you play arm wrestling and win, he will give you information. Then with Millenia, play again and he will have great items. Win to get them.

The only way to beat melfice is to keep healing, use your strongest spells, and try to destroy the sword as early as possible (I'm still trying to beat him, but my stategy will prevail)

To get to the special stage, when you get Roan (King Roan) to be part of your team, exit the Palace. When you get out, there are two places to go to, Raul Hills and the King Roan's palace place in the south. Go to Raul Hills. When you arrive, "Special Stage" will appear. You can train yourself until you are ready to leave.

First start out the game and play through until you complete it, also when you end you must have the maximum M coins or S coins wich is 9999 then
start a new game now you should have 9999 of wichever coin you chose no matter how many coins you use it wont matter, you can max out every skill and egg.
