Like the original DKC games, players control Donkey Kong and one of three companions (Diddy, Dixie and Cranky) as they tackle side-scrolling levels featuring dynamic camera angles and terrain that allow for additional paths to the goals. True to Rare's legacy, each of Tropical Freeze's levels feature a host of items to collect; earning all bananas for example will allow players to use the new Kong POW ability.
Players can switch between Donkey Kong and his companion, each with their own unique ability which is typically used to access even more hidden areas throughout the levels spread across five main islands, each with their own theme. In addition to single player, a second player can join in to control Donkey Kong's companion directly in cooperative multiplayer. Official Site (NA)
