Trying to review Final Fantasy X2 as directly and honestly as possible without pissing off the fanboys and cheerleaders is as likely as trying to find a straw of hay in a large pile of needles without getting pricked and potentially losing most of your blood supply; it is undoable. I cannot provide an honest review without the need to mention how terrible this game is. It’s not just because it’s not even remotely true to the Final Fantasy series or the fact that it’s an underwhelming sequel to Final Fantasy X (which was a decent RPG), but because it reeks of Final Fantasy finally, after 15 years of good games, jumping the shark.
Hmm...Where to start, you may be wondering...I’ll start with the story that reeks of donkey doo-doo. Basically, it’s been two years since the ending of Final Fantasy X. The world is saved from being absolutely destroyed by a monster named Sin, and everybody rebuilds the destroyed towns. In the midst of all this, Yuna and Rikku are sphere hunters...WHAT THE HE...
THE GOOD: -Beautiful, detailed graphics -Still sounds great -Still very fun, but in a different way -Sidequests galore -The ending is determined on how you played the game -Lots of familiar faces as well as new characters -You can revisit nearly every FFX location, most with extensions -Dresspheres are cool and fun to experiment with -The new airship rocks -Instead of running from place to place, you get to select locations for missions -Yuna can jump and climb, and she runs faster than Tidus -You can skip some scenes -Pretty clever story, sometimes -The storyline gives you lots of options and possible outcomes -More humorous than FFX
THE BAD: -The combat system can often leave you open for attack when healing or charging, and the energy meter wastes time -Controlling Yuna can feel clunky or irresponsive -Hardly any new locations -Can leave you clueless on the next objective or how to do a certain mission -No Sphere Grid, so stats and abilities are almost unpredictable -Only three party members -Not as ma...
The best thing in this game I personally found was the story. Even though it wasn't amazing it was well done. Not like really the other Final Fantasy games. This is a whole new thing you could do really. Other good things was keeping Yuna/ Rikku as basically in the main characters. I wouldn't have minded having some of the past characters also there but it was interesting to have them. Also what they decided to do with Killika in the whole new looks for the island. It just looked great. I found the music to have suited the game very nicely. Even though it was music I am not sully fond of I rather did enjoy the 2 main tracks they added to the game " 1000 Words " and " Real Emotion ". Other instrumental music found in the game I found to be rather good and easy listening to in the background. The FMVs in the game when they were there even though there was rather to little of them I though they were nicely done with the range of graphics comparing them to Final Fantasy X were a great i...
THE GOOD: -Non-linear storyline (Waot, the game actually HAS a storyline??! Call the press!) -Not being confined to a particular set of abilities... Which means the Dressphere system is good. No more having to rely on Holy to kick @$$ with Yuna now! -No whiny Tidus! Yay! -It makes a total mockery of Roman Numerals
THE BAD: -The fact the storyline is, well, poor... -Brother loving Yuna more than what is suitable for family members. If we wanted *bleep*, Square Enix, we would've called... -Rikku's lack of clothing for almost EVERY SIGNLE FRIGGIN DRESSPHERE! -The massage mini-game... For one obvious reason...
SUMMARY: Okay. Let's not waste time making false claims. Final Fantasy X-2 is a HUGE step down from X. I'm not talking about any of the following aspects: -Music -Graphics -Gameplay I AM talking about the following aspects: -Playable Characters (Severe lack of) -Storyline/Plot (Poor... Even for a Square game...)
Easy to play through in a few months, but you'll have to put in a lot of work for 100% ...
Final Fantasy X-2 is just another mediocre game that was made when Square fused with Enix. You'd be thinking that there would be games that fused Square's "King's Knight" with Enix's "Actraiser", but the only stellar projects that came out of the fusion was Dragon Quest 8 for the PS2 and Infinite Undiscovery for the Xbox 360. Don't worry, you're reading it right; Final Fantasy X-2 wasn't that good. Although, I have to say, it's decent enough, so...whatever, let's continue.
The story is that Yuna, Rikku and Paine are sphere hunters (oh yeah, they introduced a new character, whoopee) and they have to collect spheres. Well, it's nice to have a hobby when there is nothing to do, considering that summoners are no longer needed as Sin is defeated and the world they in known as Spira is no longer under threat. Later on, Yuna starts to miss the whiny star of the last game known as Tidus and thinks that some guy she saw on a sphere was Tidus.
Making a long story short, eventually, some big mac...
THE GOOD: The graphics, as expected in some ways.
The fact that it is the first true sequal and experiencing new events in familiar backgrounds.
THE BAD: The dress spheres, the sphere changing and the time it takes, the girly-girl approach that even girls don't like! The lack of playable characters, the happy joy joy land, weak story and the ruining of two previously good characters into sex objects.
SUMMARY: I bought this game, knowing that it would be a cash in, but I bought it anyway because FFX was so good. The disappointment hit me as I put in the disc to witness an FMV pop video. I played through the first missions and was sickened by the schoolgirl Charlie's angels-style trio. I thought that it would redeem itself, so I gave it a chance. I got on with the battle system really well and as long as I had the dresspheres on short, I was satisfied enough. I deliberately ignored songstress and went for the black mage, dark knight etc. cool ones. The times of running around and fighting...
THE GOOD: Graphics, plot, characters, character development, dresspheres were beautiful (some more than others).
THE BAD: New battle system, it was okay...
SUMMARY: The fact that they even made a Final Fantasy X-2 was awesome. Awesome graphics, plot, characters, dresspheres beautiful (some more than others). I didn't really like some of the dresspheres (mostly the ones for Paine such as Lady Luck, Theif, Songstress, ugh, >.<. I really liked the character development in this, how mature Rikku got (Ahh, kind of). I think they fit all the new characters in very well, even though they weren't in the last game. The new battle system was alright, but a bit of a pain, though you got used to it after awhile. I liked the old one better, though. So I give it a 4.5, I'd sell my soul for it. ~.*
THE GOOD: The old ATB battle system is back now!!! And now, the garment grid feature is now available in the game!!! A new system of using new powers. One character but so many outfits and techniques to use of. Examples are samurai, white mage, black mage, warrior and many other. You must go in a big trip to get them all. Plus they have the new game+ feature!!! It enables you to go thorough the game once again to complete all the itemas and accessories you never got before.
THE BAD: You only have three characters to choose from: Rikku (the hyper-albhed-super girl), Yuna (the high summoner who save Spira), and Paine (the newest member of the Final Fanatsy organization).
SUMMARY: and will continue up to the last generation. One of the best RPG of all-time under the SQUAREENIX game company. I love this game!
THE GOOD: Well the battle system is the greatest. I love how the dresspheres work and the different attributes go together with the dresspheres. It is kool
THE BAD: UMMM... the story line is not so great ya know. It could've been longer and better. They sould've had more graphics than that it is the same as the last one. But altogether it is a pretty good game. Oh yeah and it only has 3 characters big bummer!!
SUMMARY: This game overall is a pretty good game. I mean the graphics are pretty well done ( even thougth it is based of the last one) and I ABSOLUTLEY love the game play where it is not really a turned based battle game more free style gamed. I just can't stop playing it though it is very addicting. So that is my story for my Final Fantasy X-2 game. Good BYE EVERYONE!!!!!!!!!!!
p.s. MAKE SURE YOU go get this game cuz it is worth it don't over look it cuz it only has three gurls it is a really good game.
- The mini-games. Some are boring but some are just Good! Like the Marriage Mini-game! (loving it)
THE BAD: - 100% completion?! I'm too lazy for that!
- Who the hell is Paine? I WANT TO KNOW WHERE SHE IS FROM!
- the fact that Paine levels up faster than the others. The difference is small but as you reach higher levels, it grows massively and she soon becomes the strongest of the group...
- Yuna levels up too slow! And she needs like 100 more EXP than Paine to gain a new level! UGH!
- The god damn soft-porn. Hentai, Slash Whatever! I don't like it!
SUMMARY: Let me just start with the graphics. It's totally mindblowing! The way their expressions change and their mouths move as they talk is the work of a genius and the silly little remarks in the midst of battle make me smile.
At first it was difficult to get used to the high speed battling system but after some time I found it better than the old one in fi...
