THE GOOD: ~Your interesting team members (T.M) ~Check up on T.M's emotions ~The graphics ~The atmosphereTHE BAD: ~Replay value ~Can't choose levels, unless you make a save in a different slot each time, (confusing) SUMMARY: At first I had never heard of the movie, it looked like an interesting game so I hired it out, and yes it was quite interesting, more than I thought, though it's not the most action pact game out there.
The Thing's story line is like the movie's, not much to it, but lots of killing and blood, that's all I'm saying. Your T.M's have an emotional state where you can check up on all the time, if you go into somewhere really creepy and dark and most of your T.M's have died, well most likely your T.M's will lose it and start shooting around the place, if you want to cool them off you can take them outside (where there may not be any danger) or just use drugs.
Your T.M's may get infected along the way but most don't say, as then they need to be killed, soon enough the monster within them unleashes and eats them, then they turn on you. SOme are brave and will shoot themselves. Interesting hey.
The atmosphere is really creepy looking and you may jump up from your seat sometimes as the shocking parts will get you. Weapons are cool, along with some handy gadgets. While you are playing the story kind of unravels.
The game has been constructed beautifly and is a great game, though if your one of those gamers where you like to play games after you have finished this is not the game, as it does not have good replay value, also you can't choose your levels, if you want a game just for a quick rental, then I suggest this game. Rent before you buy as some will like this game while others won't. |

THE GOOD: Excellent Voice-Overs
THE BAD: Low Replay Value SUMMARY: Early in the 1980's there was a horror film made by now suspence legend John Carpenter. RJ Macready was played by veteran actor Kurt Russell. Now the sequel was made not into a film, but a game. Taking place a few years after the events of the late 80's film. The Thing is a terrific game with a story that rivals films of today. Voice-overs are done flawlessly especially in the most tense parts of the game. The game can be compared to a Resident Evil type game (survival horror). Altough both are different in most ways. The Thing is not just a single-player game, but a squad base game. As you have teammates to help you along your way to destroying the alien entity known as "thing". You can give your teammates weapons of your choosing so you can keep the best one if you like. Which always comes in handy when battling swarms of aliens. The NPC's handle there weapons great when aliens are incoming. However there are some elements of the game which are not so good. The replay value is not very high. Which means after you are finished the game, your chances of having fun playing it again are not so good. Overall the Thing delivers some great suspence elements in figuring out which people are infected. 4 out of 5 Try it! |

THE GOOD: Atmosphere, tension, true to film, v.good graphics and soundTHE BAD: Not much replay value, a bit short SUMMARY: A quality title, you feel like you are playing The Thing film sequel. Tension is kept up throughout game even in the more quieter scenes, this is done by the dark feel of the graphics and superb sound. Great tension but very linear at times. Quite differnt from Res.Evil, you have to worry about your actions and how it will effect your squad unlke RE where it's look after No.1. Will not be to everone's taste, so rent first. |
