Soul Calibur II

THE BAD:
The annoying voices, too damn short

SUMMARY:
Ah, the king of fighting game SC II. Never before has the graphics of a fighting game been so realistic. The gameplay put's games like Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance to shame. Lets face it, gaming can't get much better than SC II, exspecially fighting games. Alas.... some of it's downsides made this game all but miss a perfect score. A weekend spent on this game will earn you the "I beat this short game" award. But the replay value is more than enough to make you leave it locked up with all those other games you beat. THE BAD:
- AI can be cheap once in a while
- Some attacks are too complicated

SUMMARY:
I hate fighting games. I really suck at them, especially at the arcades. Well, Soul Calibur II isn't really a fighting game... its more of a difinitive classic than anything else.

My first impressions of Soul Calibur II were "oh, whoop-te-do, another fighting game". But then I happened to see some screenshots of the game, then I thought "ok... a fighting game with really good graphics". Then, I saw the commercial. It looked like a pretty decent game, even though it was a fighter. So, I went to a nearby rental store (I won't name names, because I might be breaking a law or something, and I don't want a black mark on my record...

THE BAD:
... not much...

SUMMARY:
You get to choose from multiple characters... and in this version... you get Spawn... he's cool... but he's got the cheapest move... a fireball... but that's cool... cuase Link's got a bow... witch is way cheaper... 'cause he can fire that sucka hella fast... well back to X-box... this game's got women that can whoop on anyone... witch is hella cool... and Seung Mina(sp?) knows how to handle a pole real well...

I like the game... in the extra moodes... you can use the weapons ya get in the quest part of the game... then you can use a weapon that's got a big advantage on the other player...

THE BAD:
I don't know where the buttons are!? What the heck is g and b and y? what does that mean for the xbox controller? I couldn't do some of the moves becuase I didn't know what they meant. The voices are slightly annoying after a while. I like being able to countermove in DOAIII....but maybe putting that in the game would change the very essence of it...I don't know.

SUMMARY:
Overall a spectacular looking and playing game. The backgrounds especially (better than DOAIII) I'd still say Tekken(2-4) is probably my favorite playing game tied with the X-men / marvel superheros game....call me old fashion. Okay, is it just me, or did nobody...

THE BAD:

I miss the way some of the characters used to look, but not much. Teh story of spawn is a little weird, but acceptable. I would've prefered a different Xbox mascot, but...whatever...There's really hardly anything at all bad about this game.

SUMMARY:
If you like fighting games, or just the first Soul caliber, you'll like this too, but be sure you know the differences between the PS2, GC, and Xbox versions. Spawn fans will love this game for Xbox also.

THE BAD:
Nothing, if you dont mind reading alot to follow the story. The sound bytes are a bit repeditive.

SUMMARY:
GAMEPLAY: Simple and precise, youll have loads of fun beating the living hell out of your opponents with a diverse range of weapons without the unneccesary amouts of gore in Mortal Kombat:DA. You'll be hitting combos without even noticing it and with special moves that make you feel the impact. The diverse range of characters mean no two fighters are the same in any way, youll have Astoroth, a big huge strong axe wieding maniac whos downside is he's slow and has lowv health, then you have Voldo a fast and very wierd creature, this is just two of the 20+ characters found in the game. Gameplay is frenetic but can get a bit frustrating. 9.5

THE BAD:
The story is good, but you have to read the story, they don't have any clips or movies.

SUMMARY:
If I were to give you ranks of the types of games I like, fighting games would be 2nd in last place. I never really liked fighting games. So then, I went to my friends house and I played it with him. Next day, I'am in Best Buy getting me the game. Thats how great this game is. Soul Calibur II has a total of 20+ to play from. But of course you have to unlock all of them. But let me talk about the graphics. For XBox, it is really good, the enviroment is stunning and life like, and the game never lags. Then there is the controls. I've always hated fighting game controls. But these are really easy. If you want to do a really damaging combo just press a button with your thumb then move it...

THE BAD:
- Not as Revolutionary as SC1 on DC
- No Training Mode, just Practice
- Weapon Master Mode is a Little too Short
- Lots of Similar or even Carbon Copy Characters

SUMMARY:
It's been a long time, but the the wait has been worth it, because Soul Calibur 2 is finally here and it has taken back it's title of "Greatest 3D Fighting Game of All Time" which it coincidentally never lost. I like Virtua Fighter 4: Evolution as much as the next guy, but nothing could ever top the fighter that is Soul Calibur ... that is, until now.

THE BAD:
No Conquest.I loved that at the arcades.Also,it should not say a,b,k,g.It should say a,b,x,y.

SUMMARY:
The storyline and graphics are great.So are the moves and weapons.Numchucks,swords,dangas(tipe of weapon Talim uses),and staffs mixed equils best fighter ever.Frm the makers of Tekken and the first game ever,Pacman,comes Soul Caliber 2.For an old gameing company to go such a long way means great games.No wonder Soul Caliber 2 is so adictive,unlike Tekken,which got old fast because of the lack of characters,that I could play it 24-7 for a year and find new stuff.Hard yet fun and it is better than Tekken.
