Xbox  Morrowind: Game of the Year! 4.5

THE GOOD:
+ There are around 10 races that you can become during the start of the game. The best one being a Dunmer (Dark elf) which I find the best looking and I usually use them for thieves.
+ There are tons of guilds in the game like thieves, mages, warriors, along with houses which you can join but later on in the game you cannot fully complete all as the guilds turn against each other.
+ The map of Morrowind is humongous, with hundreds of towns and fast travelling like boats, ships, spells to teleport and so forth.
+ Thousands of monsters that can drop miscellaneous objects which you can use with alchemy to make your own potions (but its very confusing for me... I really could care less about alchemy).
+ There are cheats, but only to regenerate health and stuff, nothing too big which I like because it isn't tempting.
+ If you don't have an Xbox you can get the game for PC, even though it's really tempting to cheat.
+ There are two add ons since this is the Game of the year version, which trust me, it deserves that title.
+ This game is quite addictive; you could probably play it all summer.

THE BAD:
There are not a lot of things bad about this game, but i can probably list a few.

- It's possible to overwrite your file while not looking. I've done it once or twice.
- There are some spots in the game that you can get stuck on, such as poles or fence posts. If you jump on top of them accidentally you will have to load your last save point if you do. Just to mention there is a flag sticking out of the mages guild that I got stuck on and had to restart my file, so save often.
- Some guilds you join will make you kill the leader of another guild, not letting you be the master of every guild.
- If you become a warrior or something, I suggest getting the "steed" as your birth symbol because you will be REALLY slow.
- If you die you go from your last save point.

SUMMARY:
You start out as a prisoner on a ship coming to the land of Morrowind to follow the clan called "The Blades" and to defeat the final boss, DaguthUR. But anyway, you will go into a building, where you will have to pick your class, your birth symbol (these have bonuses), and your race. Dark elf thieves are the best speed wise as they can move around the fastest and have sweet skills such a security (lock picking), sneak and use daggers for maximum speed while getting around. Some must have items are the Boots of Blinding Speed (BOBS) which add 100 or 200 speed and you will become a GOD at speed.

The audio in Morrowind is quite good... not nearly as good as it could be because while talking to NPCs they do not speak to you while they do in the sequel to Morrowind: Oblivion. There are sounds while making combat; sounds for wind rustling, and all of the nature in the game. Out of 5 I would have to rate the audio a 2. While it is great in combat it is not very sophisticated for interacting with other people to further yourself socially. : 2/5

The video in Morrowind is at a very good quality. The towns are decorated with detailed tiles, and outside of town you are able to see each little piece of grass. As you pick your race you will notice they are almost life like. Bethesda has done a very good job at creating an almost life like environment for the game play. I think the video quality could be better while in combat as it is just a swing your arm constantly movement. Overall I would rate the quality of video graphics in the game 4.5/5, as I do not like the quality of fighting : 4.5/5

The combat in the game is quite bad, even though the graphics of the monsters you fight might be quite well done. During combat you might run up to a monster and swing your arm, while the other monster "jumps" towards you for you to take damage. After you have killed a monster it will only fall down, leaving its body with no marks or scratches, just like it is paralyzed. Personally I think Bethesda could have done a way better job in the combat area. Overall I rate the combat in the game 1/5. Epic failure

Weapons: I love the variety of weapons you can have in the game. There are hundreds and hundreds of types of weapons. Daggers, long swords, bows, axes, staves and more! Personally, your best bet if your going to collect all of the weapons and armours, is that your going to need a place to store them. This is why you should get a house. You can not actually "own" a house, so just go into a house that doesn't have guards, kill the owner and the house is yours! You can leave your weapons in the house and they will not disappear. It's genius. Overall I rate the weapons in the game to be 4.9/5. There are literally a thousand weapons to choose from, but the weapons do break gradually and need to be repaired...

Overall I think this game is quite good, and I would definitely recommend buying it, as it is worth the money, although you could get the newest version of Morrowind - Oblivion.. I still prefer Morrowind over Oblivion because it is way better! So the overall rating for Morrowind is 4.5/5 !

THE GOOD:
As far as RPG's go, Morrowind shines past most others. The graphics were far superior for its time. The storyline is extremely deep and very well developed. The optional side quest stories can keep a player busy with unique content for hundreds of hours easily without ever starting any part of the "main quest". The character development system is one of the most complex to have been put to pixels since pixels existed. A very fun alchemy system exists which can keep a new player busy by itself creating new and interesting potions for hours at a time. The sheer mass of items ranging from spoons and books to enchanted armor and weapons is enough to fill even the largest dwellings in the game to overflowing. Also(surprisingly because it is strictly single player), this game has an astoundingly robust online community.

THE BAD:
In the original Morrowind, sans expansions, bugs and crashes were very common. The GOTY edition has greatly reduced issues of frustration for the player, but has not eliminated them altogether. A new player will often find themselves reloading their game due to a freeze up, if not suddenly finding themselves falling in a void after entering a new area. The PC version has a console to work around most errors, but XBox users have to rely on a strict regimen of save game maintenance to prevent rampant crashes.

In addition, killing certain NPCs forces the player to reload when following the main quest, as they are necessary for certain plot developments. The only way to work around this if you've already saved your game before realizing it is to use the console for the PC version. XBox players would be forced to use a backup save, or start over from square one entirely.

Some quests can be downright frustrating in themselves, due to lousy in game directions, and the size of the environment.

A player without enough time to fully appreciate the depth of the world could be disappointed without a rudimentary guide, because distractions abound. The game can end up as a copious time sink, just because there is so much in it which is unnecessary.

SUMMARY:
The added content in the included Bloodmoon expansion introduces its own intriguing main quest, adds around 20% to the explorable landmass, and piles on numerous new quests to perform. After adding the various new dungeons to explore and purge, new items, and new creatures, one is left with a very strong expansion that easily adds tens of hours of gameplay by itself.

The entire Tribunal expansion pack is plotted within the capitol city of Mournhold, which is a bit restrictive compared with the vastly open ended gameplay which made the original Morrowind famous. Tribunal is very structured, and the plot all but forces the player down a quest line that changes very little each time through. This limits replayability in addition to being rather narrowminded. For an easily distracted player, however, Tribunal is perfect, because there are very few things to serve as distractions. Even when lost in one of the mazelike sewers of Mournhold, finding your way out is mostly fast and easy given the limited size of Tribunal's maps. Despite all this, the storyline of Tribunal does a great job of expanding on and nicely wrapping up the original storyline of Morrowind. This is commendable, given the original's lack of closure.

A player will not run out of things to do in this game even after exhausting every available quest in the various villages and towns, as there are portions of the game that will only be revealed upon fully exploring the land and discovering the myriad hidden locations. Some have funny outcomes, others dangerous, so the player is almost always surprised. The GOTY edition has added some fun "easter eggs" for the veteran Morrowind player to find and ruminate over as well.

I'd also like to point out that the creators of this game did an impressive job of fleshing out the world's backstory(history), which is lacking in its sequel, "TES IV:Oblivion", not to mention many other games in the genre. Whereas some games include a novella inside their manual to flesh out the game's story, there are numerous in-game novels to read and learn from in Morrowind, which altogether lead the player to be able to piece together a flavorful history of the land and inhabitants very much aside from what can be learned through the main storyline.

THE GOOD:
Vast open landscapes, a thousand or more NPCs, various creatures to kill, run away from and the ability to capture the creatures soul to make weapons, this game has it all, the water effects are amazing, almost life like. There is over 100 hours game play, plus extra for side-quests and mini games.

THE BAD:
Rain at some points comes through a solid wall and/or ceiling, yet this does not effect gameplay what so ever. The combat system is not up to scrap when compared to fable's, as players can spend a long time tryin to get just one hit in. And who cannot forget the long loading times, but for a game this size any console would struggle.

SUMMARY:
All in all I find The Elder Scrolls 3: Morrowind one of the most enjoyable games I have ever played. This game started me into the big wide world of RPGs. The Storyline to this game is so huge and takes some time to understand unlike fable which is "Kill first ask questions later". With the expansion packs Bloodmoon and Tribunal this game gets an extra 100+ hours of game play! Even if you've purchased the first Morrowind game released for Xbox, i advise you greatly (no matter the costs) to buy this game just for the add ons.

THE GOOD:
The game isn't fast like Fable, and gives you a whole lot of opportunities to do anything. It's one of those games I suggest to rent first, and if you like it, buy it. It comes with a couple of expansions from tribunal and Bloodmoon which adds more hours of stuff to do.

THE BAD:
This game has glitches, the music is always the same, unless you get into a fight, Long loading time (Read a book or pick at your nails while it loads.) it's really easy to cut around the corners to beat the game fast (other words,cheat..). In short, it can be a real headache if you do not have the patience. (Have aspirin with you at all times, or Ibprofen!)

SUMMARY:
This is a good game despite all of the negative stuff, and it's worth the money to get it if you're into slow and steady RPG games. There's lots to do, even if you didn't do any of the mini quests, or go tomb raiding, or piss of Ordinators by wearing their armor (I suggest you do not do this, unless you need a laugh pointlessly, or just crazy), but it gives you lots of choices, not lots, but some. But if you just started playing this game, a Walkthrough I would advise, just in case you get stuck, and you will, trust me. In closing, if you think this game is cool but you haven't played Morrowind, or the GOTY edition, I suggest you borrow a copy from a friend, or rent it before you buy. If you're impatient and want one of those fast "Play-it-in-9-hours" game, this isn't for you.

Its an all in out good game with alot of things to do even if you get bored some times.I hate all the glitchyness and being able to get cought on the stupidest things in the world or inside of things. And the freezing that goes on some times. The lengh of the game might some times draw it out but other than that there is so much to do in this game that I have ben stuck in my room for so long just trying to take in all the stuff that I can do and keep replaying the game just trying to find the best stuff and make the best character that I can possibly make in this game. But once you have played this so much you might just tend to get a little bored and a bit to drawn out when you are just sitting there trying to find the right place to go or getting lost or not being able to find the right person to be able to go to just to finish the smallest quest possible and not being able to go on any further. That might be just some stuff that might make you not like this game very much.

THE GOOD:
-Vast environments
-Almost unlimited choices, ultimate freedom
-Too many side quests to count
-Wide range of armor, weapons, and clothing
-Money system is very addictive, almost like real money

THE BAD:
-Graphics could be slightly better
-Loading times are annoying

SUMMARY:
Morrowind can be said to be my favorite RPG of all time. I finished the original one, and begged for more. Then, GOTY came out, and it is definitely a worthy expansion. The new locations are different than the original Morrowind, which is really good. I could also import my character over, which was a big plus. Perhaps the best feature that this game has is the side quests. I have played this game for at least 100 hours, and I'm guessing that I am about only 80% done with everything. And at 30 dollars, its worth it.

THE GOOD:
hours of more gameplay and tons of more weapons and armor!!!

THE BAD:
how to put it...laggy and it has it's fair share of glitches.

SUMMARY:
This game is one for the rpg fans, letting you do whatever you want, not even having to start a quest (apart from the starting one). The first morrowind was excellent and to bring out expansion packs on a console was even better. i'm surprised at the amount of stuff they fitted on the disk. this contributes to the lagging and glitches, but hey i don't mind the occasional glitch here and there. It's worth it for the amazing indepth gameplay used. And being able to load up a character fom a previous game (i actually started again, it would of been too easy other wise). This game is...how can i put it...super duper!!! A must buy
