THE GOOD: +Excellent Graphics +Incredibly funny cut scenes and dialogue +Deep characters +Good story line +Amazing cutscenes that could have made their own movie... hey! An Armed and Dangerous movie! That would be good. +HENRY!!!!THE BAD: -Lily isn't really a nececary character, and has some kinda dumb dialogue -Difficulty is a little to inconsistant, even on easy (some level are too easy, some really tough). -Some moving issues -Town defense missions (too easy and boring) -However, all of the above bad things are really minor and don't really take away from the gameplay. SUMMARY: The first time I picked up Armed & Dangerous, I had to relieve myself in the bathroom many a time before I actually beat the game.
Where to begin? I'll start where the game really shines:
Gameplay: Oh. My. God. This is the funniest game since the Monkey Island series. The gameplay really gives itself a kick of NOS with really neat characters, ingenious weapons, and overly funny cutscenes and dialogue. Can't forget the world's oldest soldier... HENRY! He should have been a hidden playable character.
Graphics: Astounding. Almost up to par with Halo, but not quite. I found myself wondering about some of the animations, though, as they tended to be a bit strange and quirky. O well. Yet another incredibly small side effect.
Sound: Kinda wish I could have played my Linkin Park with this game. While the music was really good, it did get slightly old after a while. The dialogue is really well-scripted and thought-out, although Lily's voice did get annoying after some time.
Controls: Top notch. The joysticks felt a bit loose, and the FPS handling in 3rd person view was a bit wierd, but not enough to really destroy the game.
Misc.: Good camera. Didn't have much of a problem. Couple of the cutscenes stopped a litte early. Good replay value with the hidden token deal.

THE GOOD: High body count, some of the best weapons ever and funny to boot. Didn't find myself swearing at the camera angle, which is unique for me and 3rd Person style gamesTHE BAD: Nothing really stands out other than your two companions are about as much use as a jock stap made out of extra itchy wool SUMMARY: I'd heard that Freedom Fighters was the final word in 3rd person shooters, but no comrades, this is.
For starters the camera in A&D is fantastic (this has been a bug bear for me in recent games e.g. Prince of Persia, F.F.), also you'll get to use some of the most unique weapons ever devised, which you'll need as you mow down hordes of baddies (I think one of the levels has a body count of 1,000). Computer AI is decent enough, baddies will run away at times if they don't fancy the odds, graphics are bob on with some of the scenery explodable.
The selling point for this game will be its humour, which reminds me a bit of Pigs of War on the old PS, and it is actually funny. Which is a good point as it makes the cut scenes watchable (If I wanted to watch a film I'd go to the cinema or buy a dvd, why can't game makers understand this).
Overall: I'f your into your 3rd person shooter type games or just one thats fun to play I'd seriously recomend this game (any game where you get to upgrade weapons in pubs can't be that bad). |

THE GOOD: Funny, Hilarious, Humorous, Goofy...THE BAD: Long cut scenes (could make a great movie just out of those) SUMMARY: I think the boys at LucasArts who designed this game were smoking something, not to be meant in a bad way. I had trouble concentrating on the playing the game, only because I was laughing too much. <br>You take on the role as Roman of the LionHearts, while the two other characters are Al. You can control arsenal of serious as well as goofy weapons (bombs that stick to enemies, guns that shoot out land sharks, and a trumpet-looking-thing that shoots mortars). The more mature players will be rolling with laughter while the younger ones may be left saying, "Huh??" The controls are very easy to use and the graphics are decent. Would you care for a cup of tea? |
