BackgroundThe Xbox One is Microsoft's third generation console hardware platform, and is billed as an all-in-one command center for digital entertainment in your living room. In addition to traditional gaming, the Xbox One can also display and serve as a programming guide for digital television thanks to its HDMI pass-thru.
It comes with Kinect 2.0, as motion sensing and voice recognition will play major roles in Xbox One navigation and usage. The camera can also be used to make Skype calls, which the Xbox One supports.
Its combination of three customized operating systems allows for multitasking of sorts; switch between applications, or "snap" them together when you want to use multiple ones at once using voice commands and gestures.
Record custom game footage using the "Game DVR" feature which will allow you to share media across social networks and Xbox Live. Achievements can also be shared through the new achievements portal, and are no longer be locked to specific games.
The console is set to leverage an 8-core x86 processor, 8GB DDR3 system memory, 500GB local storage and a built-in Blu-ray player.
