BackgroundDragon Age: Inquisition is the third flagship title in BioWare's fantasy RPG series. Inquisition is developed using EA's next-gen Frostbite 3 engine and will better adopt the open-world game design popularized by modern CRPGs.
The game is set after the events of both the Dragon Age games and novels, meaning Thedas is now racked by civil war across the ruling houses and the Circle of Magi. Players become an all-new protagonist called the Inquisitor, creating their own character from one of four races (including for the first time the Qunari) and three starting classes (warrior, rogue or mage).
Inquisition will feature a larger world than previous titles in the series, and opening new areas to explore will require players to liberate villages and forts, then posting forces of their own Inquisition in the re-captured areas. The game features 13 characters which players can recruit and bond with them via events and other requirements as opposed to simple dialogue and gift options.
Combat in Inquisition can be conducted in real-time or via a top-down "tactical" view reminiscent of the system used in the PC version of Dragon Age: Origins. In the tactical view, players can pause the action any time to issue orders and locations to all party members. Players can switch between the two systems on the fly.
