Assassin's Creed: Rogue is an action-adventure game developed by Ubisoft Sofia for Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 consoles, due to release on November 11 2014 in both North America and Europe. The game is set between 1752 and 1971 and follows Shay Cormac, an Assassin-turned-Templar on his quest to hunt down Assassin's. The game will be the last in the franchise to follow the Kenway ancestral line.

The game is being primarily developed by Ubisoft Sofia with collaborations from Ubisoft offices in Singapore, Montreal, Quebec, Chengdu, Milan and Bucharest. The game's lead writer is Richard Farrese.

Shay's primary weapon in Assassin's Creed: Rogue is his Air Rifle which is equipped with distractionary bullets and grenades. He also has his own ship named the Morrigan which is equipped with Burning Oil and Puckle Gun cannons.

Characters from previous games in the series appear in the game, such as Achilles Davenport and Haytham Kenway from Assassin's Creed III and Adéwalé from Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag.

One of the locations in the game is the city of New York, as well as areas such as the River Valley and the North Atlantic Ocean. The Atlantic Ocean will be the home of the majority of Naval Missions and exploration where Iceburgs litter the waters as a place to cover during in-coming enemy ship attack. Sheets of ice that cover the surface of the water can be broken to uncover whatever secrets the icy waters hold. The River Valley acts as a hybrid of both sea and land gameplay, masterfully incorporating them both seamlessly; river navigation with map navigation reminiscent of the frontier from Assassin's Creed III.

The game features an enhanced version of Eagle Vision which enables Shay to indentify assassin's that may be concealed in the shadows that he wouldn't otherwise be able to see, similar mechanically as the one used in previous Assassin's Creed franchise multiplayer.

At random points during Naval Gameplay, Assassin's will try to board the Morrigan and Shay and his crew will need to fight them off. This the reversal to the Ship Boarding as seen in Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag.

Due to Shay's position as a Templar, there is no penalty for killing or harming civilians.

During areas such as the North Atlantic Ocean, where the sea is often covered with ice and icebergs, the ship has a specific ice breaker ram to break through sheets of ice covering the top of the water, allowing access to otherwise unreachable areas. Icebergs can be destroyed with the use of a the Puckle Gun to free forzen cargo and animus data fragments. The Morrigan is more agile that previous ships in the Assassin's Creed series, with the ability to turn more tightly and quicker.
