Completing what looks to be an outstanding beginning are the "little" things, such as the vocal talents of Samuel L. Jackson and Ron Perlman as Afro Samurai and Justice - The Number One. Quality audio and voice-over are some of those small touches that can really make the difference in a title, and NamcoBandai are off to a great start.

"Afro Samurai appears to capture its source material quite effectively. Granted, we're concerned about a few things. Some camera rotations drop the frame-rate a little, and we wonder how the final product will evolve beyond simple hacking and slashing."

"Stylistic flourishes aside, Afro Samurai is a third-person action game heavy on combat. There are puzzle and platforming elements, too, "
"It sucks that Afro Samurai isn't awesome. If you take the plunge and buy this game, there will be times when you'll be playing, having a blast, and think that I'm full of crap. Falling through the air while brawling with Afro Droid while rocking out to some fat beats is an amazing experience, but when you couple that with a piss-poor camera, terrible platforming sections, and cheap/mentally challenged bosses, the end product suffers."
