SUMMARY:
Wii Sports proved itself to be one of the most sold games of all time.
The success of the previous game has motivated Nintendo to release this masterpiece of a game.
Compared to Wii Sports, Wii Sports Resort has had some significant changes.
First, this game introduces Wii Motion Plus, a new extension device for the Wii Remote. What this seemingly unnecessary white object does is that it makes the Wii Remote's movement more sensitively captured. For example, Wii Motion Plus assists the player in doing cuts and slices easily in Table Tennis. The downfall is that this Motion Plus' motion has to be adjusted time to time, or your gameplay becomes slightly obscured.
The other difference between this game's previous game is the number of sports you can choose to play from. I'll pick up the interesting ones.
Swordplay
-Your Mii wields a lightsaber-like sword.
It has three game options.
~Duel- You battle against either a computer or another player next to you. The person who manages to slash the other Mii off the circular platform wins. Fairly entertaining, once the computers start to get smarter.
~Speed Slice- You have to slice a certain object in the correct direction. There is a variety of objects that are thrown; watermelons, to digital-clocks.
~Showdown- Probably the game style the majority prefers over the others. You slice at hundreds of enemies to reach your goal. Each stage has a certain number of enemy Miis, and you have to beat all of them to proceed. Sometimes, it can be one of the most frustrating game you've ever played.
Frisbee
~Frisbee- You have your own Mii-dog that chases and catches your Frisbee. You have to get that dog to catch in a certain area of the sand. Pretty hard at first.
~Frisbee Golf- Throw your Frisbee at the pillar of light. As soon as the disk touches it, you hole in! Don't worry, the destination of your disk isn't so small. Actually, it is pretty big. You'll get the hang of it after playing Frisbee mode.
Archery
With your nunchuk and remote, you shoot arrows at a distant target. With wind speed, shaky hands, and distance in mind, the game makes the sensation tangible and really fun. Recommended for multiple play.
Table Tennis
~You can have a competition with computers or human. Probably the most high-quality game inside this game. You can slice, cut, and spin the Ping-pong balls at your own will. It's really easy to perform the necessary movements to do the corresponding actions with Wii Motion Plus.
~You also have the option of seeing how many times you can return the shots from the computer.
Air Sports
~Battle- You can have an airplane-shoot out battle with your friend! With the 'balloonshooter' on your plane, you pop the colored balloons your opponent has on the back! Really exciting.
~Free- REALLY interesting. I think I've spent most of my time completing this. You go on a free 5 minute flight through the island. If you wish, you can enter the volcano, find hidden resorts and caves, and also collect "Info" signs. The liberty of what you can do is great.
The sound effects and music are excellent. The sound is in cue with all the wacky action, and the music is enough for a BGM. The music doesn't interfere with your gameplay most of the time. Also, most of the songs' theme matches the atmosphere of a 'southern resort'. I was really satisfied with this.
Following up, the graphics are staggeringly good. You can actually see your Mii's faces clearly, and witness all the fun. Swords slashing, planes crashing, Miis waving... It's even entertaining to observe all those little details.
Overall, I'd say this game was better than ever. Some points (such as the disappearance of 'exam mode' and 'tennis'
can be disappointing... but still, the positive parts cover them up. An action-packed, living-room-istic, broadly entertainable masterpiece.
Yeah, I haven't forgotten them, but oops, I think I forgot bowling... anyways, thank you!
