We Ski
THE GOOD:
We Ski is a game that lets you ski in a vitual ski resort, while you sit at home instead of facing the elements. That is the first of many great things of this game. Another is that you can not only create customized characters, but you may also ski with the Miis you have already created! You can speed down hills with them, dress them up in cool ski gear, do tricks off of ski jumps, or even crash into games and fall down all the time if that's what you want.
This game is not only meant to ski around on the assorted courses, but it is filled with mini quests and challenges. They include speed races, trick challenges, trivia, and even delivery quests! These might sound a little dumb, but they get harder as you progress, and every sucsesss earns you Star Points. Star Points are the 'currency' of the game, so to speak. When so many Star Points have been collected, new gear unlocks at the shop for you to get and put on you character!
When you're not busy accepting challenges and speed skiing down the courses, you can ride up the multiple Ski Lifts and take in the scenery. This might not seem as such a major pro for the game, but it is somewhat relaxing to your eyes after having the screen move and ajust brightness, destroying your vision during speed skiing. When you accumulate a certain amount of Star Points, you could change your skiing experience to Night mode for a nice contrast to that bright white snow during the Day mode. Fireworks are constantly launched from the bottom of the resort, adding to the view from the observation area at the summit.THE BAD:
There are not too many bad things about the game, but the only one I can think of makes buying the game questionable:
When you play the game to it's limits, as in defeat all of the challenges, the game loses its fun considerably. You can only play it so many times until you find yourself in a cycle of repeating events. Most games are like this, but this one does this faster than most.
SUMMARY:
In We Ski, you play a character (either one you create on the spot, or one of your Miis). Your character travels to the Happy Ski Resort, a virtual ski resort full of winter fun and many adventures. Here, you can try your luck at the slopes, trying for the best score on each course. You can go to the Ski School to help you learn the ways of the game. You can even interact with the other characters in the game to achieve goals and conquer challenges. You can take pictures with your characters, too, and make a slideshow with them.
Sounds a little cheesy. But with the main storyline and the Pros and Cons listed above, I'd give this game an overall rating of 75%. 90% for the good, -15% for the bad, and just 10% for just being there to be entertaining.
