The way I see it, the Wii isn't really that good of a console. It hits the home run every now and again with games like De Blob, Metroid Prime 3, No More Heroes, Super Smash Brothers Brawl and Super Mario Galaxy, but for the most part, the Wii is nothing more than shallow fun that's only really used for parties, fused with shovelware bullshit. The Wii doesn't really balance its library of casual and hardcore games too well, which is annoying, because that's what the Nintendo 64 did best! Want quick and easy fun? There's Mario Party and Super Smash Brothers. Want to shoot shit down? There's Goldeneye, Perfect Dark and Quake 2. Want some multiplayer action? Give Gauntlet a call. There. Why is it so hard for the Wii to do likewise... at least consistently, anyway. Oh well, that's why I have a 360 and PS3 instead. And I have a feeling... that Madworld might be headed towards those systems. It just... feels like it's too good for the Wii, you know what I...

Clover Studios were originally one of Capcom’s development teams whom were responsible for the creation of Okami, God Hand and the Viewtiful Joe series, all of which did poorly in sales yet received near perfect reception from critics for the most part. Unfortunately back in 2006 Clover disbanded from Capcom and merged Seed Inc. to found Platinum Games whom quickly formed a contract with legendary gaming company SEGA to produce four games for them. Madworld is one of those games.

Receiving a great deal of hype prior to it’s release, Madworld is an Action game which has you violently murder your foes in as creative and gruesome ways as you can, from ramming sign posts through their heads to using the protagonist’s...
With a monochrome, black and white graphics and over-the-top violence, Madworld stands out from the crowd of the shovelware that has been filing up the Wii library. With former members of Clover Studios, a developer known for its original games like Okami, PlatinumGames is at it again with one of the most original games this year.

Story

In Madworld, you play as Jack, who is a contestant in a show called Deathwatch. The concept of the show is simple: kill people in gruesome and exciting ways. Madworld is a game that doesn’t really need a good storyline, but it surprisingly does. It goes into government conspiracies and terrorism, and is pretty deep…for a beat em up. To say any more would ruin the fun and surprise.

Gameplay

As said before, you are player in Deathwatch. The objective of the game is to kill people in over-the-top ways to rack up points. Luckily for you, you have a chainsaw on your arm. While that chainsaw will take most...

THE GOOD:
Let's start off with the bizare style of presentation. The game's scenery, background and characters are shown in black and white. There's plenty of red blood in there though and the graphics do not give you headaches and you can always see everything you need to. There is a lot of detail put into the weapons and enemies even with the black and white graphics and it gives you that rough adult feeling when playing.

Another good point to talk about is the soundtrack. The BGM (Background Music) is rather unique because it has urban instruments for a specific area, but at the same time you have a solo rapper singing about the main character and although it sometimes gets annoying it is decent and will fade out as the DJ commentators speak which is also a brilliant feature. The two commentators have countless lines which never get boring. They add a lot of funny wisecracks as well which add to the humor loads. If you have played Burnout 3 you'll know what...
