If you're looking for a 2D fighting game that's totally nuts, Guilty Gear XX Accent Core will give you what you want.
"With new mechanics, a rebalance of the characters, and tweak to the overall presentation, Accent Core becomes the definitive addition to an already fantastic series."
"Okay, bottom line: If you have a Wii, but lack a PS2, get this game. But if you happen to have both systems and trying to figure out which version to get, stick with the PS2 version. That’s assuming, of course, that you don’t have a Classic Controller. If you get the Wii version, be prepared to shell out some extra cash for the controller attachment; it’s the only control scheme that won’t make you want to throw your WiiMote into a wall."

"Visuals and sound are... well, it's Guilty Gear. Aside from some strange sound imbalance issues, which you can fine-tune in the options menu (why this wasn't done by the developer before release is anyone's guess), these areas weren't exactly candidates for improvement in the move to the Wii. For Nintendo fans who are new to the series, Guilty Gear XX used to have the distinction of being the only high resolution fighter, back when SNK and Capcom were stuck with their legacy sprites. High res has moved on to high def, and the Guilty Gear series now looks just as bad running on a high definition set as any other standard definition game. The only area where we could have realistically expected some form of improvement is the interface. It doesn't look really Wii-ish, particularly with its arcade-style font. Strangely, both the main menu and character select screen have you drag pointers across the screen using the analogue stick, making them perfect for direct pointing."
