Crystal Defenders R2 (which stands for Round 2) is the second game of a series of three tower-defense games for WiiWare. Although the game stands out from its other two versions for its levels, available units, and monsters, the 800 VC point charge just is not worth it.
The game is based loosely on the Final Fantasy Tactics Advanced series having jobs (or units), monsters, and stages from the actual game, but the game play is much different. The main series is a turn-by-turn tactics game, and while the tactics part stays true, the idea is much different. In a tower-defense game the main objective is to stop enemy units from reaching the end of a path. To do so you place units along the path to attack or slow down enemies and ultimately defeat them. In Crystal Defenders, as the name states, if an opponent gets through to the end they will steal a crystal from your total of 20 crystals. There are also some monsters who steal multiple crystals.
