"Cars is an honorable attempt at converting a children's movie property into a working racing game. The developers had the right ideas in place, they just weren't executed as well as they could have been. The open environment serves little purpose other than going from point A to point B, the controls (supposedly the Wii's strongest asset) are difficult to get acclimated with and the tractor tipping (while cute) is both frustrating and not very fun."

"Cars on the Wii is one of the better movie license games I have played on the Wii thus far, but it’s too simplistic and uninteresting to recommend to most gamers. I think the younger crowd might enjoy this racer, but if you are a fan of rally racing, arcade racers, or sim racing, I just don’t think Cars is going to generate a lot of appeal to you, or if it does, not for very long. If you were a fan of the movie and haven’t played this game on the other consoles that it has been on for months, you might give this a rent."

"Steering Cars with the Wii Remote works pretty nicely, but some of the minigame control schemes and a few Wii-version-specific bugs conspire to drag down this film-licensed racer."
"Cars on Wii does a lot right: It looks good, it's clever and upbeat, and it's well-balanced for the target audience. The remote just doesn't add much to what's already come out on other platforms, and in fact brings down the overall game in some areas. This is the last console to get Cars, and that's the place it finishes in as well."
"The story mode offers a lot of gameplay and features characters kids are sure to enjoy. For gamers familiar with the speed and thrills of something like Burnout or Mario Kart, however, it just doesn’t offer anything new at all. Recommended for the 12 and under crowd, but more seasoned gamers should steer clear."
