The summer in which an alternate location to rent video games (one other than a grocery store) was a good one for me; this is one of the first games that I tried. Had a lot of fun, but I also had to go 2-player and battle against mom and dad at sporadic points.
I quickly fell in love with the idea of attacking enemies with shells, banana peels, blowing past them with a speed boost or starman (sometimes using the latter to knock someone out of the way, hehehe), jumping over walls with a Cape Feather (the only Mario Kart to feature this item), or sometimes shrinking my opponents with a Lightning Bolt and then proceeding to squash them flat! Only problem was that items were too limited, but that did create an element of strategy.
I would probably play this game again.
