In the third edition of Super Bomberman, a lot of new features were added, overhauling the play control system from previous installments. Super Bomberman 3 adds five player support utilizing the SNES Multitap and the extra controller slot. Also added is the "revenge" or "miso bomber" feature; when a player dies they can still throw bombs in from the sidelines to try and swap places with a player that is still alive.
Additionally, new powerups were added to the game, such as the Kangaroo, which gives the player an extra hit (which strips the power-up), and some extra abilities, including jumping, laying rows of bombs, and running at a higher speed. Also, the traditional Bomberman is not the only playable character. There is a wide variety of characters that the player can choose from.
