SUMMARY: I’ll start this review by saying that Xenogears is amazingly awesome. While I’m generally quite critical when it comes to RPGs, I find it very hard to critique this game. It was made in 1998, over ten years ago, and still manages to beat just about every modern RPG in most aspects. I have no idea why it took me so long to play it, but better late than never at all. If you’re a fan of games with incredible storytelling, and somewhat old enough to follow mature themes and a complex story, then this should be the next game you play.

SUMMARY: STORY ..merely can't be described in such review.the best since 198s and until now.not only it is just exciting and like no other rpg,but it has lots of pretty deep references and indeed great sense.for example,developers used F.Nietzsche's philosophy and S.Freud's works,besides,it has pretty much religious references.honestly when playing this game for the first time a few years back I couldn't appreciate it in full.only later,grown up and when I've read mentioned above phylosophers,I've appreciated this story completely..so it is really a worthy masterpiece.

THE GOOD: Kickin' battle system, and off the wall storyline.
THE BAD: Low level graphics because its from the PSone.
SUMMARY: The anime cutscenes where astounding. That was all couped with the deepth of each character. Fei is ungodly by the end. The twists in the story are reminiscent of Final Fantasy VII fame. Hey this game is the one that nearly beat FFVII in my mind. Glad to see that they are bringing it into the next gens with Xenosaga. I seriously can't wait for the 7 to 8 part series to flesh out all the connections to the 3 games currently avalible: Xenogears, Xenosaga Episode 1: Der Wille Zur Macht, and Xenosaga Episode 2: Jensiets Von Gut Und Bose. Hopefully they don't screw it up like they did with Star Wars and the prequels. Please Monlithsoft and Namco don't scew up like that punk George Lucas.
Oh sweet mercy. Xenogears was a great game. The graphics are beautiful. The music is nice and usually fit the situation. The only problem I had with it was that I had no clue what the hell happened. The story may have been one of the most confusing things I've ever seen. And I watched Evangelion! And I was more confused by Xeno than by that great series. I know they both have a whole lot of similarities, but I'm not going to go into that now. First let's start on the graphics of this masterpiece. Great graphics. The sprites were not really super deformed. If you don't know what I mean, ummm, sorry. Any ways, the character looked the same whether they were walking around a dungeon, or fighting a boss. The only change in the character's look while walking around is when they are in their Gear. And that was also very sweet. The gears were awesome. They were huge, and very detailed. SUMMARY: this is probaly the best game i have ever played. A great storyline, ok graphics, its hard but who doesnt love a little challenge, the gears (giant robots), the music ,and the fighting is a great battle simulater. I defently reccomend this game i loved it. this is positively the best game of its time and maybe of are time i loved the characters, the cover was good and the yddrisal(bart's ship) was very cool. i would reccomend this game to anyone who asked what a good game was. i think that everyone needs to play this game. 2 thumbs up (lol.). the music in this was suberb i mean i never wanted to turn it down it fit every scene perfectly. This is a suberb game. give square a hand they did a great job .So go to blockbuster or whatever rent play then buy it.
THE GOOD: Graphics-Although they're not good by new standards, the characters have a very nice, almost anime/cartoon look
Music-One of the only games ive never felt like turning the volume down on. Every peice of music fits the scene amazingly
Gameplay-A little slow in the beggining, but once you get the hang of it it's awesome!
Story-Starts you off knowing nothing, but as you go you very quickly catch on. but every time you think youve got it, youre hit with another twist. Very entertaining, amazing story.
THE BAD: Practically nothing. Platform jumping gets a bit frustrating in one part, but other than that, perfection!

THE GOOD: 1 of the Best RPG's EVER a must play just look at all the reviews, best storyline touching and you actually think about it even after 4 years of playing it. And has stunning anime FMV's.
THE BAD: graphics understandably bad during gameplay because of old psx engine. Story had to be rushed near the end do some scened will be described to you instead of you playing it yourself.
SUMMARY: The beginning and the end of RPG buy it, play it atleast 60 hours of fun, intence, touching gameplay. This game is part 5 of a ^ part series just recently released by Monolith studios called Xenosaga although the plans weren't underway to create the series until just recently because of the developers of xenogears departure from SquareEnix( Squaresoft). This game offers great gameplay and story and a great battle system involving two forms of combat on foot and in Gears (Giant Humanoid Robots). And throws a great twist at you near the end.
THE GOOD: I could go on forever but here are the good stuff: Awesome story of Godly proportions, Innovative battle system, Lots of colorful characters, detailed graphics and rotatable polygonal environmens, Gear and Character combat-deathblows are learned by combining attacks(Eg: weak, weak, hard)along with the spells that we are used to in RPGs(called ether), Outstanding soundtrack that gives the game life from the composer that also produced the music for Chrono trigger.(Yasunori Mitsuda), The Anime FMV cutscences with voiceovers are excellent! Well, Almost everything about this game is good...oh and it also has elements from religion and the bible, which can be good or bad for players.

SUMMARY: Without spoiling an epic adventure I will say you will be treated to a classic by square in which big machines and god go hand in hand. This lenghty game will engross you in a sci-fi story in which one man will lose his memory and find a past so complex and incredible that 1000 years could not conceal it. Get ready for characters so memorable they will warm your heart years after you have played it.You will find yourself wanting to replay this game long after you have beaten it. A battle system so creative it could only be done by the makers of final fantasy 7. So are you ready for a challenge?
