THE BAD: There are no bad things about this game apart from the fact that there was not a sequel on PS2 and that it is very overlooked - most people see the name and run.SUMMARY: This game is about guitar playing and the tunes are sweet as. There is difficulty settings for a fun challenge and a multiplayer co-op/battle mode. Also, you can unlock Parappa which is cool. The cutscenes do look strange, but they are funny - like the time when she(main character, Lammy) goes to hell and has to play well to go back to Earth, anyways, she gets put in as fax machine and faxed back to Earth. Well, I found it funny anyway. The game is colourful and the graphics are good considering the great and original style used for scenes and characters. This game is real good fun and the tunes and vocals are really cool. Overall, this game is a good favourite of mine, I dont really know why it seemed THAT good to me? But it's great! Cant give it 5 coz some people might not like it that much. |

Rock Out with Um Jammer Lammy! | 4.5 0 comments |

Welcome to Weird Names for Weird Games Volume 1! Today we take a look at Um Jammer Lammy, a rhythm game for the PSone. Um Jammer Lammy is the less talked about sequel to PaRappa the Rapper, another rhythm game for the PSone with the same cute charm as this game. Before I go any further, let me say something about the graphics. The characters are paper thin. They're like cutouts from a magazine or something. It looks pretty cool, but skip the cut-scenes. They're... strange. Some look good, some look pretty bad. Overall the graphics are pretty much the same as for PaRappa the Rapper. The story starts with Lammy, a... something with a guitar, who sounds like she's been taking voice lessons from Elmer Fudd. "B-b-but-but I-I-I'm in kind of a h-h-hurry!" She plays guitar for an all-chick band called Milkcan, WTF!? Anyway, when she's late for a gig, Chop Chop Onion Man comes along and makes her believe that whatever she's holding can be used like a guitar. Yes, I said Chop Chop Onion Man. This is a very weird game. Lammy will play fire hoses, babies (?), and airplane steering wheels (whatever they're called) as she struggles to get to her next gig on time. She'll put out fires, fly airplanes and even make a guitar of her own as the story continues. But don't expect much else, the story is really short. And the game can be pretty brutal. Unless you have rhythm and some fast fingers, you'll find yourself playing the same levels over and over again. The game rewards creativity, but don't overdo it. Luckily there are different modes of gameplay that'll ensure plenty of hours of fun and frustration. You can have a computer teammate, or a second player can join in with Controller 2. Or you battle it out Lammy versus Rammy against the computer or a friend. And there's also solo mode which can also be switched to Easy mode for practice. Overall, the game is pretty fun. The music is crazy, the gameplay is furious, and the addiction level is high. This is one game you should pick up if you're into Dance Dance Revolution or something like that. I'm giving this game a 4.5 out of 5, because its wackiness will keep you in the game for quite awhile. |
