THE GOOD:
Nice effects, cool ships and great gameplay.

THE BAD:
The two-player deathmatches.

SUMMARY:
Although I am the biggest "Star Wars" fan this side of the Bajoran Wormhole, I do find time for "Star Trek" (hence the nod to Deep Space Nine). I must say, this game does beat some of the space flight-sims given out by Mr. Lucas and the "Star Wars" team, and, although I own a PlayStation2, I did get this game on recomendation. What can I say? Wow. That's about it. Wow. This "Star Trek" shooter makes up for the fact that there are NO "Star Trek" games on game consoles. That said, "Star Trek: Voyager - Elite Force" is top of my wishlist, along with "Star Wars: Bounty Hunter", and I am loving the latest series of "Enterprise"! Long live "Star Trek" (although "Star Wars" does rule)!

The game looks very good. Ships look extremely close to what you see on the shows and movies. It is, however way too senstive on the controls. One slight touch of the control and you could vear off in a totally different direction. Over all, it's a very interesting game and alot of fun.

THE GOOD:
Graphics very good, music fine, interface screens well done, adherence to Star Trek universe done well.

THE BAD:
See below.

SUMMARY:
Interminably dull. Esentially you are stranded in a vast empty space and you shoot at things that rarely get close enough for you to distinguish from dots. I kept thinking that "next level there will be some terrain to move through, some area with landmarks to explore", much like Rogue Squadron on N64. Nope: just vast empty void with dots that get harder to kill. I got through about %75 just because I couldn't bear to think I wasted $20 on this, but finally I just couldn't be bothered.
While the story is engaging, it doesn't translate into gameplay. You're told you must complete certain objectives (explore area, save a ship, link up with allies) but it all just ends up with you shooting little dots in the distance.
The controls are also quite awkward. You find yourself holding three or four buttons at once to target and chase an enemy, and then you must contort strangely in order to shoot at them. A real pain.

All in all, I got the impression the thing was rushed out meet some movie tie in, and little thought was put into it.
Don't waste you're money unless you own prostetic spock ears.
