If there was ever an RPG that was overlooked because Final Fantasy hogged the spotlight at any given time, why not look back at when Final Fantasy was able to do it without too many problems; the dawn of the PS1. Final Fantasy 7 broke the mold by introducing some 3D graphics into the RPG genre, as well as a fairly compelling storyline and neat turn-based combat. However, there's a game that manages to do a far better job of it, but unfortunately, not enough people are talking about it because FF7 and FF8 overshadowed it. Yeah, this one game managed a more complex battle system and a kickass storyline to boot. This game is, of course, Legend of Legaia, for the PS1.

Legend of Legaia is about these things called Seru that, if fused with a human, can make them superhuman. These superhumans have to venture into the mist and destroy it and whoever...
THE GOOD:
Graphics and musics are very good, also storyline and modelling are very excellent. The greatest one is characters,Serus, arts and magics.

THE BAD:
Sometimes the difficulty of the game becomes very high, and don't forget boss named Lapis-it's very hard too.

SUMMARY:
You will enjoy Legend of Legaia, because it's so different from other RPGs.At the game, you wil meet with three characters:Vahn,a boy who will become hunter,Noa,a girl who doesn't know her mother and father, and Gala,a Biron warrior-monk who works as Master Teacher at Biron Monastery.

When you look at game's storyline, you will see the Mist covers all over the Legaia. There's a little village named Rim Elm,and a boy lives here named Vahn.Vahn will become a hunter next day,but before he becomes a hunter,a Seru attacks to his village. After that,Vahn meets Ra-Seru;Meta,and saves his village, and his adventure will start.Noa and Gala will join him at next parts of adventure,and...

I didn't expect much from Legend of Legaia, save for its above-average difficulty, when I pulled it out of the discount shelf at my local K-Mart. Several dozen hours later I asked myself if my opinion of the game changed, and the answer was a great thunderous ''YES!!''. It isn't without reason that Legend of Legaia was named the third-best RPG of 1999. This game is most certainly a classic.

Now, before you run out to buy it (as if any of you actually listens to what I say...), let me warn you: this is a very slow, leisurely, even tedious game. Don't tell me that I didn't warn you.

What's this? ''REALISM''?!

The first thing that will impress you about the game is its interesting turn-based battle engine. For starters, there is no attack command on the menu. Depending on each character's speed, you can order them to perform a varying number of kicks/punches during his or her turn. As the character's level grows, you can input more and more commands per turn....

THE GOOD:
-The Script
-The Storyline
-The Characters
-The Battles
-The Music
-The Video's

THE BAD:
-Graphics

SUMMARY:
Everyone who likes RPG's should play this game. In all the PS (Playstation) Games i've played this was the complete best out of all of em'. The only thing bad about this game in the minor character graphics. The storyline is exellent, the names are exellent, the script is even exellent. The storyline revolves around one main goal. To stop a mist that covers the land. Once you start this game you can't stop! (Until your local damn Blockbuster replaces it with Loony Toons Racing like what mine did!) Anyways the game also has exellent videos. Infact when the game starts in Nohl and the wall starts rattling it feels like your acctually there, even when the huge beast destroys the wall. Mind you they could improve some of the sound. When a lady in Nohl gets attacked all you hear is "doing, doing" its kinda...

THE GOOD:
Excellent gameplay. Challenging enemies(which I needed since many role-playing games I've played lately, are easy.) Boss music is unique and done well. (Same with all of the game's music, but boss music especially.) Great story, too.

THE BAD:
I can't remember the girl's name, but she gets on my nerves. She is WAY too hyper.

SUMMARY:
This game is an absolute must-have. Any rpg fan should definitely get it if they see it. I don't understand though, why many people have never heard of this pure classic role-playing game. (Ignore this segment below. I need 750 letters to fill out the review but I only have 508.)

THE GOOD:
Excelent style of fighting. And the story was good. The World isnt that big, but they sure fit in a lot in there. Fighting Graphics are awsome. No equiping armor and seeing no difference. Great Magic.

THE BAD:
Running around graphics lack big time. Some of the equipement can cost too much for whats its worth.

SUMMARY:

THE GOOD:
Great story, excellent fighting system, good grahics, lots of sidequests, and fun characters.

THE BAD:
Not much exposure to the public.

SUMMARY:
This is a great game. It offers one of the most unique and innovative fighting systems around for an RPG. It's story is very original and easy to get into. The sidequests are very fun and there are a good variety of them. This game is a good buy.

Legend of Legia is a 3-D RPG with some innovative features, the fighting system is completely redesigned from any other RPG. The graphics are pretty impressive, and the in battle graphics are the best that I have seen any RPG lay down. The character design could use a little help, but most RPG’s do. The sound system is lacking anything real great, and quite frankly is somewhat of a downfall. Controlling your character is real easy to do, and the controls during a fight are down right innovative and fun. These features can lead to a stupid game, or an extremely fun game, Legend of Legia has turned out to be one of the more fun ones that came out. Legend of Legia is another great demo on this CD.

I enjoyed everything from the start till the end of this RPG. However, my favorite is the Sol Tower and a disco dancing contest. IT ROCKS! Battle system is so much different from all other RPGs and is really refreshing.
It may be a phrase, but you can identify yourself with your characters. My favorite is super-cute Noa! However, Gala and Vahn also rule. Perhaps the cutest RPG of all time. But don't get me wrong, some battles are very difficult. Very. Don't let it stop you - Legend of Legaia is worth every minute of your time.
