Jade Cocoon: Story of the Tamamayu

Jade Cocoon made my jaw drop to the floor, an amazing game. It might be short and seem limited but still a great game. Character animation is made by Studio Ghibli, makers of anime that you may have heard of: KiKi's Delivery Service, Princess Mononoke or Laputa: Castle in the Sky.

Graphics 10/10! Absolutely marvelous, very beautiful 3-D graphics. The backgrounds are very well done, and the characters seem very realistic in terms of actions (running, talking etc.) However, in forests, the graphics are so nice, that you might not be able to see an exit or entrance. Also, items in the forest are sometimes hard to spot because it blends in very well.

Sound 10/10! Why? Because there is speech for almost every person that you talk to, I have never seen or heard this in a game before. Plus, the dubbing is very good. The voices match their respective character perfectly. However, some tend to talk very slowly so I usually skip some of them.

THE GOOD:
Well-thought up storyline, cute graphics, nice battle system and one of those makes-you-feel-warm-inside games (Like Zelda OOT for me ) the music is also sweet too, and the storyline does get quite juicy at times.

THE BAD:
Quite short, and not that much adventuring space. (and I love my adventures ya know! ;_

SUMMARY:
Jade Cocoon is a great game for monster-raising and RPG lovers. I first played this game on a demo, and after that one little taste I wanted the whole game! I never actually bought it, I borrowed it then completed it from a friend, but enough of the high-lights of my life.

THE GOOD:
First game that combines Pokémon and RPG in a 3D enviroment

Not Pokémon, can only carry 3 minions at a time

SUMMARY:
Jade Cocoon is a game a little like Pokémon. You capture minions, then train them up by battling other minions.

Your minions grow in size as they become stronger. You can merge minions together to make them stronger, this also changes their appearance which means there is unlimited ways to make your minions look. No 2 merged minions can look the same.

I wont give the plot away, but it can get a little confusing and take some time to fathom out.

The game itself can be a little boring. The music is poor and traveling from area to area can get tedious and repetetive.

Still a nice game, but can't really compete against Pokémon, despite being 3D RPG take off of it.
