PSX  FFIX - Final Fantasy 9 5.0

THE GOOD:
The last installment of Final Fantasy on Ps1, and it beats all the rest. The Characters are elaborate and interesting - everyone has their own story.

THE BAD:
I really can't think of any. The battle system can be irritating if you aren't willing to accept it, but other than that, the negatives are non-existent!

SUMMARY:
FF9 has a significantly lighter, more humorous feeling to it, unlike FF8 or FF7. This game goes back to the basics of the other games 1-5 in some areas, hence the medival-type theme, but the speech and humour is modern and enough to keep you laughing, though crude at times!
FF9 has several references to other FF games worked in, but these are mostly just fun things the producers worked in, such as "No Cloud or Squall can harm us" and others. Another good point is the Storyline. The main character, Zidane Tribal, is different to the other FF heroes. Apart from trying to woo any other life form as long as it's female,
Zidane is loveable and funny, alot less serious than, say, Cloud!

THE GOOD:
Everything about it is genius.

THE BAD:
The graphics kinda suck if you were to play it today, but back then it was still good..

SUMMARY:
Final Fantasy IX is one of those RPG's that are just.. amazing. Being as it is the last Final Fantasy to ever appear on the Playstation system, Squaresoft really went all out on this one. The gameplay, story, and battle system (even though its traditional), were all flawless. I loved the game because of the story, because it had a more origional theme to it. The graphics were great, and the battle system fits it perfectly. What really got me about this game, I dont even know. All I know is that it quickly became my favorite RPG on the Playstation system. The summons (Eidolons) were also really amazing, and some of them had cool animations and still proved to be really helpful in times of need. There is nothing wrong with this game that I can see.

I recommend this, as well as any other Final Fantasy game to any fan, or anyone at all that loves to play RPG games... that is, if you can even get your hands on it. Trust me, you wont be sorry.

Well this game is one of my favorite games, and why?
There are 8 unique charactes.
This game has good humour, and a character who gives you headache if you start thinking is she a girl or is he a boy...

How long is this game
- 4 dics
This game has many side quests and if you do them all you might find your self playing this game over 60 hours!

Battles
You can fight the battles with your friend! But everything else can only be done by one person.
The battles are nice you control all the 4 characters in the battle.

Music
There is no voice acting!
Music is really good in this game I'd give 10/10

Difficultu
This game is easy. You can beat the game on level 65.
But there is one boss which gives you a challenge...
There is not a time you don't know where to go.If you do all the side quests they will give you the challenge!

Summoning
There are two characters who can use suommoning.Summoning looks nice in the battles. The summoning system is not the as in FF8 which I think was really bad.

Video Scenes
OK well here is the thing which diserves 10/10.
There are many video scenes in this game and they look awesome! There are much more Video scenes in this game than FF7 or FF8 (these games didn't have quite many video scenes)
Game has almost one hour of seamlessly integrated full motion videos (this was from the back cover of the game)

Also...
-You can train a chocobo
-Since FF6 this is the first game which has Moogles
-There are 4 continents
-This game has many races; rats, birds, humans, unknown, black mages....

THE GOOD:
-Takes on the original Final Fantasy feeling, Classes, monsters, surroundings and feelings. It feels very different to 7 and 8. It feels warm.
-Minigames:
How i love to play cards. This version is different to FF8's Triple Triad, and I like it.
The chocobo section is great too. Searching for treasure gives the game a fun and happy feeling.
-The characters and graphics were rather nice.

THE BAD:
-The plot. It needs working on. I found the game a little boring compared to 7 or 8.

SUMMARY:
I liked the game because it went back to basics.

7 and 8 were unique because they took as to a time that is "closer" to our own world. 9 took as somewhere different and crash-landed us in a world where a blob ruled a Kingdom, Airships are the main mode of transport, and hardaly any one is human.

Zidane is a great character to play as, because he is a perverted little monkey. He is a fun character, with a happy outlook on life, and can always see the light at the end of a tunnel...and generally sees the boss at the end too.

The Elodions (Summons) are great too. They look superb, and they tie in with the old-school feeling of the game. and 4/5.

THE GOOD:
Well, everything.

THE BAD:
There is nothing at all that is Bad. Maybe the graphics are blurry at sometimes but just great.

SUMMARY:
I think my first review didn't get posted because it was to long and detailed, so i'm going to try and be a little shorter this time
Graphics. 9/10
Decent graphics. Not the best on the Ps1 but a huge upgrade from ff8. they're worth 6 but the over an hour of FMV that is the best on PS1 takes it up antoher 3 marks
Story: 10/10 Just great story, the Main enemy change worked well, unlike in 8. and the pure evil of the viilains who destroy 3 citys makes the game just wonderful to play.
Gameplay: 10/10 Great system for learning abilties, fights are fast paced with a shortened summons option making the game exciting to play.
Characters: 9/10
Great characters, for the first time since the start of main character FF's the main character doesn't wield a sword. Just a little bonus. All the characters a pretty well developed, Amarant could have had a little more going on in his life to get this out to 10
Villian: 10/10 Kuja is insane and evil. In the same level as Sephiroth and in my mind more evil than Kefka.
Excitement: 10/10 the games constant destructions and plot twists make this game very exciting to play. It made me play through about 3 times just for fun.
Side-missions: 10/10 Great card game, Chocobo things. A hidden summon, a couple of optional bosses. The Excalibur II for beating the game in 12hours. Its just so good to try and get every thing.
Length: 8/10 the game ends. Even after 45-50 hours its just sad that it finishes. The greatness of the game itself is to blame for the low mark here
Difficulty: 9/10 This not how hard the game is. this is how enjoyable the difficulty of the game is. a perfect mark is simple enough story but hard side-bosses, Ozma is hard. While the story not being overly difficult will make you think. maybe an even harder optional boss with 100000HP would give a 10
Duribilty: 10/10 This game will have you hooked to the end and maybe even enough to see it again for the story. Just great.
Overall:95/100 (round to 4.75/5)
This is my favorite game ever and the first Final Fantasy i ever played. Buy it now. NOW

Graphics: 8/10
Sound: 8/10
Gameplay: 10/10
Value and Longevity: 10/10
Tilt of Mars: 10/10
Grade: A-

A Final Fantasy game with colorful characters and a time-based battle system, FFIX looked to be unique from its predecessors, and tie in with them at the same time. You'll feel comfortable with the characters and feel similarities from the past FF games, but the story it tells is as wonderful as all Final Fantasy games are. The story involves an unlikely hero, another unlikely hero, yet another unlikely hero, a likely hero with his own love story, a princess... the cast of characters goes on. The villains of the game are truly diabolical, but you don't even know who the villains of the game truly are until the later stages of the game when many questions begin to be answered.

The graphics are solid for a PS1 title, but not perfect. The world display can lack sharpness, as can the battles at times. The menu displays are simple as well. Making up for that are the absolutely breathtaking cutscenes and marvelous special battle moves (such as summoning).

The music in the game is great and wonderfully creates an atmosphere suitable for the game. Sound effects during battles are great, but otherwise they are decent. There is minimal speaking in the game as well, which can be figured since the PS1 disks can handle only so much, and the graphics and depth of gameplay is so enormous that the game had to take a step back somewhere.

The gameplay of FFIX is amazing. If you only were able to travel around and get into battles, it would only be a mediocre RPG, but there are so many mini-games and side quests that the variation of gameplay is incredible. You can play numerous chocobo treasure finding games, whether it be in chocobo levels or the entire world map itself. There is an enthralling card game (which I wound up mastering and haven't lost for ages), many item searching side quests... and I mean a whole abundance of those side-quests. The amount of gameplay you can do besides the amazing main story is mind-boggling, which leads me to longevity.

If you complete the game within a certain amount of time (may be under 30 hours) you get a special weapon... good luck trying that. You'd need to rush through everything as fast as possible, and do minimal leveling. Going through the game at a moderate pace and exploring as many game play aspects as you can will probably take you around 50 hours of gameplay. 50! However, if you play like me, do as many side quests as you can. do as many mini-games as you can, level up your characters to the best of your ability (which can take awhile), and explore every possible facet of the game... 80 hours and counting, and I had accidently beat the game (which at a point, you can not exit the area you're in and backtrack, unless you have saved prior to entering the final areas of the game). If I actually knew where the end of the game was, I wouldn't have ended it so quick since I knew there was more for me to do. I could have made the game last for nearly 100 hours if I had the opportunity... and I may just start the game again when I find the time to do just that, with the knoweledge I have now to stop proceeding at a certain point.

My tilt... perfect. Quite possibly, this is the most fun I've ever had with an RPG. Then again, I haven't played a lot of other ones (only played a demo for Final Fantasy VII), so my tilt is merely perfect in that I have nothing better to compare it to. It's one of those rare games that I picked up and played right from the start, and wound up not stopping until I had it beat. Usually I'll take some gaps in time, months in between plays, if I get stuck in a section or just get to a point where I want to pick up and play at a later time. FFIX's wonderful story and amount of things to do, as well as the ease and strategy with the time-based battles (instead of turn-based battles; this one has a meter to fill up before a character gets their turn, so you KNOW when you can make your next move as any of your available characters [4 in a battle max], and strategize in advance), just kept me hooked from the beginning until the climactic end. The final boss was odd though, but still a challenge. You'll also find some easter eggs in the game that I won't get into... though I accidently ran into the toughest boss in the game due to my curious nature. If you enjoy RPG's you must give this one a try. Buy it, you have no chance of beating the game on a rental if you wish to explore all the game has to offer you, which is a lot.

Concept: 5/5
You are a women loving thief trying to stiel a beutiful princess. But that's nothing for there is much more to see while the story gets much mroe complex and enteresting.

Grapics: 5/5
So good it would actually look real if the characters didn't look so fake.

Sound: 5/5
Beutiful. Matches with the surroundings and conversations at the same time.

Playability: 5/5
Like most RPGs you won't care about the control. And it's so easy, all you need to have your hands on is Triangle, Cricle, and X. And you could even change the battle speed to your liking and if you are a begginer you coul make sure ennemies don't attack you while choosing items or magic by simply turning on wait.

Entertainment: 5/5
Too good to even be stop battle RPG. SO much action. Get cards and duel people on the streets (by pressing square infront of them). And even synthesise your weapons. Ride on a chocobo and look for treasure! So much to do.

Replay Value: High
You will be playing this game over and over again (that is if you beat it). It's too fun to play it once and not even try to ever play it again.

Normally the initials "B.F.F." stand for "Best Friend Forever" though it is not so in this case. The initials "B.F.F." in this case oculd mean close to "Best Friend Forever" depending on what way you put it. These initials like many others,--For exaple F.B.I., N.B.A., M.L.B.-- could explain a lot. In my case the inilials "B.F.F." stand for "Best Final Fantasy".
Many people wouldn't agree and say Final Fantasy VII is the "B.F.F." but not here, here Final Fantasy IX is the "B.F.F.".
This I think is actually the longest Final Fantasy. It has many fun things like Synthesising weapons, and card to collect and play other people with (wich is very fun).
The battles are so fun. You even get new commands like blue magic (magics copied by ennemies), and eating ennemies.
The graphics for this game are outstanding, if the characters didn't look so fake they would actually look real. The playability I don't even have to mension becasue like all RPGs the controls are easy. The playability is just too good. Too good. The story will make you want to keep playing (check concept.
This game is definently a buy, not only becasue of intertainment but because it's so long.

THE GOOD:
A really cool and awesome game

THE BAD:
No bad thing about the game

SUMMARY:
This game is totaly cool and awesome in different ways. Its story is really awesome and its really additing. This game is totaly fun and wonderful. The games story is truely amazing and Fantastic. Its really an awesome game and you would not stop playing this game unless your done with it. Its not an easy game but in the otherside its not that hard. This game would rock your world and unless your done with it you'd die just to finish the game. This game has awesome graphics and you would really need help to be able to finish the game unless your a Final Fantasy game expert. When I first saw the game I clearly wanted to buy it that I begged for it and I didn't want to stop playing this game until I was doe with it.

THE GOOD:
Alright I thought this was one of the better of the Final Fantasy series. The characters in this game were untouchable by any other game in my opinion. You begin to get a feel for the characters and start to actually feel what they feel. Also followed by the awesome battle system and the brilliant idea to use weapons to gain abilities.Storyline also was a marvel.

THE BAD:
Only a few things I didn't like about this game. One was the graphics, they were a bit blocky but for when it was made it's not too bad.Another is how all the characters were a tad short.Thats all I thought this game missed from a perfect score.

SUMMARY:
I think this is my favorite of the Final Fantasies.A definate must buy for any RPG junky. My favorite thing about the game was how the game made you spread out your usage of the characters so one bunch didn't lag behind two much. Two thumbs up,buy the game and you'll have a new love for Final Fantasy!
