THE GOOD:
It's actually a fun game, much like Resident Evil but not nearly as scary. More action oriented. Less puzzle solving. Decent PS one graphics and voice acting.

THE BAD:
The story is somewhat linear, D has to rescue some girl who's been kidnapped by vampires. This is somewhat like the original movie, Vampire Hunter D, but longer.
The camera angles are better than Resident Evil, but crap nonetheless.

SUMMARY:
If you prefer a more action-oriented horror game, this is perfect for you. At some times the game can be frustrating, not knowing where to go next. The game has its share of good moments and bad moments, it's like a 3-D Castlevania- better than Castlevania 3-D for the N64, but not near as good as Lament of Innocence. Overall, it's decent, longer than Resident Evil but still short.
My Rating:
~Graphics: Decent at the time of release, a 4 out of 5.
~Sound: A bit dated but still spooky, voice acting is decent. A 3 out of...

THE GOOD:
Theme, settings, backgrounds, music, VO's

THE BAD:
Gameplay is like Resident Evil, only imagine going out all melee...can be irritating at times - the characters are a bit stiff, much like the original resident evil for psx. Matter of fact, it's comparable to that game, save for the theme. Both are horror, but RE is survival horror, and this one is more action/adventure.

SUMMARY:
This game was released prior to the US release of Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust (movie). It is closely based on Bloodlust, but there are a few changes that i'm assuming are either made to keep gameplay moving forward, or were an early basis for the movie plot before editing.

In any case, the game itself starts off with a nice little CG movie. You start off as D, a 'dampeel' halfbreed (human/vampire) son of the Vampire King, Dracula. D is a hunter who, as you can guess, hunts vampires. He is down to the last vampires on the planet and is hired out to...

THE GOOD:
There isnt anything at all whatsoever good about it,just the movie its based on is friggin awesome.

THE BAD:
The list is far too long to list Iam afraid.

SUMMARY:
I loved the movie,Its still my favorite anime of all time. Its called Vampire Hunter D Bloodlust. Its a Masterpiece. This game makes so much fu of it,its not funny. The graphics stink, the controls are cluny, the enemies are stupid,D walks to slow, too much backtracking to get the stupid keys and a whole lot of other stuff.I have always thought that Orphen Scion of Sorcery was the worst but this vile anti-game takes the cake and the whole friggin bakery with it.May I intrest you in his other magnifesent movies? There are the original "Vampire Hunter D"Its a spendid movie yet it comes nowhere near as good as it sequel "Vampire Hunter D Bloodlust".I think the first one is on both DVD and VHS but it sequel is only on DVD.So remember movie good, game bad.Peace.

Counter-intuitive controls mixed with lacklustre graphics and poor gameplay screen-panning leave this game in the "not worth the money I paid for it" category...even if you're a fan of the anime.
