play play and one more time... | 4.7 0 comments |
by SepheroT from 2d floor of hot, , damn Hell | Dec 4, 2004 |
It's 1000 years after the Tale of the first Lunar. Some things are still the same some have been changed. Is the game better or worse then the Orignial? That answer would have to be a toss up being both games are very well done...
GRAPHICS-10/10: --------------- Given what they are, their pretty good. I'm one the few gamers who actually look at games playability then the graphics. Some of my friends pray to games with good graphics like Fear Effect when in Essence the game is a steaming pile of crap. But in Lunar the graphics for a 16bit system are done very well and the Anime scenes add a nice touch to the passing of the story.
SOUND- 10/10: ------------- What Can you say bad about the sound!?! The Music is Really good. Funny in some parts on how they can add something that cheesy to the game. Like the Music in The Dragon Kids Village or in Ramus Tunnels of Terror. And the Voice acting can get a little Well...Dumb..at times but its done well. Lunar is one of the games you can feel proud to play with the volume up and not on Mute.
GAMEPLAY- 7/10: ----------------- Battle Freakin City. The Only reason Im giving the game play a 8. I mean every step you take a nother grey toned monster comes running at you. And Your gonna need to go up at least 3 levels in a area to even stand a chance against the final boss. Other then that the game play is fun. And Addicting I got it for Christmas and found my self beating it in a week and a half times. So Even if their is a battle every other minute the game wont turn you off.
REPLAY- 9/10: --------------- Im not sure how many people will actually Pop the game back in to go through it again. I would just to find all the bromides. But for Replayabilty after fighting the Final boss your treated to a 10hour or so Epilog. That Will Keep the controller in your hands for a little while longer.
OVERALL- 9/10: ---------------
Good Graphics, Good Sound, Battles at every turn, Fun Gameplay if the battles at every turn to scare you , a Soild story and enough to keep you comming back for a little while longer. What you get their is a Solid RPG good enough to give final Fantasy its run for the money. Now lets hope we See a Lunar 3
RE-CAP: --------- Graphics-10/10 Sound- 10/10
Gameplay- 7/10 Replay- 9/10 Overall- 9/10 Rent or Buy= Buy. Hell I dont think youd get past disk on a rent and the game has so much to offer youd really vaule from a buy
(*Note* Overall Score is based on a average for the 4 scores before it)

I cried... damn it...... hate this series.. too good | 4.9 0 comments |

THE GOOD: What can I say... the series is awesome... THE BAD: Hard like hell.. damn final boss SUMMARY: The series pretty much came back way back from the Sega series....
The awesome thing about this game, is the fact that the storyline is awesome... awesome enough that it made me cry especially in the end of it all.. the graphics in this game though, true, it's 2-D like a traditional RPG, old school style. But it's worth picking up in stores. Though the prices during the time I bought it were $100.00 plus the PST and the GST which sucks.. it was worth the money, it has two CD's and a god bible book that's hard! and also the music is beyond that.
The bad thing about it is.. it gets tedious when it comes to levelling up.... and I was worried that this won't get as big as other games such as Final Fantasy VII since barely anyone hear has heard of it.
Other than that, it was worth it.
I hope they release Lunar 3 |

THE GOOD: I loved the graphics and the Cut Scenes! The characters were cool, and the magic and attacks were cool too.THE BAD: The game got so hard in the second disc. That is really the only thing I didn't like about it. SUMMARY: Overall, the game is really good, and I would play it again, but not for $5. Renting it I mean. ^^
I gave it a 3 out of 5 because the 2nd disc was way too hard! |

THE GOOD: game play, story line, characters, and the battle systemTHE BAD: the same as the first one, why remake a game on the same graphics as the SegaCd? SUMMARY: Lunar 2 hmmmm this game was kinda good, but did'nt outlast the one before it, no way, this game was to quickly put together, because sequels are always suppose to be better, but alot are'nt I'm just saying they should at least be better than the prequels. but this game had some cool stuff to it, I still liked the story line, but it was'nt as good as the 1st one...sorry, hate to rag on it, but I was expecting a little more from it....the graphics did'nt sway away from the orignals from Sega Cd...thats what I did'nt enjoy, but graphics are'nt everything to a game..:laughs:, the battle system was like the first one, that was good.... |

THE GOOD: Anime FMVs, human characters, a sometimes life-affecting story, the perfect amount of difficulty to keep anyone interested.THE BAD: The graphics could be better, not that that counts for much. SUMMARY: Ever since I bought this game I have been trapped in a web of enchantment. I have never found a story to it's match including the plot of Final Fantasy VII, which I found to be crude, dull and reather unfinished. Lunar, with it's numerous plot twists and side-witches seems to be another world entirely! A world that will keep on living after you leave. To get so close to the characters as to be able to say that really know them is a blessing in any game. Many people would gripe about the graphics, however Lunar: Eternal Blue is such a wonderful game that it rivals even the most ground breaking accomplishments such as Final Fantasy X. It can and cannot be said, however, that is the greatest RPG to date. Many people will have many different viewpoints of a game. Still anyone who does not consider this to be at least a good game I would say is to far away for their near-sightedness. I recomend this game to anyone and and everyone with the possible exception of those who are too foolish or immture to grasp the gravity, power, and over-all beauty of this outstanding story. |

THE GOOD: Exceptionally good plot and battle system. It is just what you would expect out of it,due to it's equally amazing Lunar:Silver Star Story. The character design also craves you to play it.THE BAD: If your new to the Lunar series, this game is a little tough.I found myself losing all the time the first time I played it,especially the final battle. SUMMARY: Lunar 2 is to me personally an amazing game. What really struck me about it was listining to the soundtrack, composers obviously worked very hard on it. The game also brings back memories of the original PSX version of Lunar. As Hiro travels to meet the four dragons, you almost feel that your Alex.On another note, the characters also were very developed.Ronfar the Priest,Hiro the Swordsman,Lenia the Black Mage,Jean the karate expert, and the last I will not spoil for you.If you liked Lunar 1 or are looking for a good RPG,here you go. |

Lunar 2: Eternal Blue | 4.1 0 comments |

The long awaited sequel to the clasic Lunar: Silver Star Story has finally come, and with the absence of any new Final Fantasy game comming out for Playstation, it seems as though Lunar 2 just might be the last great Role Playing Game for this dying, but never dead console.
Much like the previous version of Lunar, this still has the Anime-type cut scenes, as opposed to the awe inspiring FMVs that we all have fallen in love with. The fighting system is just as great as the first one, with barely any changes recognisable to the average player.
Lunar 2: Eternal Blue does have an interesting story line, but nothing that was overly impressive, like that of Final Fantasy VII, but is still memorable to most everyone who plays it.
The only real problem about Lunar 2 is that comes in a very large, akward casing. The casing is neat because it does come with many extras that other games just will not provide you with, but as in all things, there is a down side to this. If you wanted to carry the game in your pocket to your friends house and wanted to bring everything there, you would have to haul much more than what is necesarry.
Overall, Lunar 2 is one of the better RPGs for Playstation One, and, what will likely be the last, real fun Role Playing Games for PSOne. |

THE GOOD: This game has tight anime, magic, characters, skills, story, music, packaging, epilouge, bromides, crests, weapons, armors, gameplay, fighting style, graphics, and etc. its one of the best games in the whole world. The graphics are s-nes style, but who gives a rass-ass if the story is good, i could care less if the graphics were like gameboy THE BAD: the bad thing is that its better than other games( too bad for them ) SUMMARY: BUY IT NOW! |

An Amazing Remake | 5.0 0 comments |
by Mahou_Gakuen_Lunar from New York | Aug 21, 2001 |
THE GOOD: The anime-style FMVs, the beautiful music, stunning characters, interesting plotline, extraordinary RPG battle systemTHE BAD: None! People gripe about the graphics, but hey, it's a Sega CD remake and the FMVs more than make up for the game's graphics SUMMARY: I haven't found many people yet that can remember this game! This game is actually an old remake for the Sega CD system. I had the game many years ago and I found it to be one of my favorite RPGs of all time. I then found myself traveling to Japan just so that I could buy a Japanese Sega Saturn to import the Sega Saturn version of this game (and Lunar: The Silver Star) and now as I see it released for the PSX I must say that it is every bit as stunning, if not moreso as the original game. The characters are developed in such a way that you feel as if they were your best friends or your next-door neighbors that you know so well. You laugh with them, cry with them, and can always personally relate to them. The characters themselves become part of you and draw into the game deeper and deeper until the moving conclusion. The battle system features challenging battles and a system that most RPG players will be familiar with. I actually got my hands on this game about a week before its US release because of my connections with Working Designs and I played the Japanese release of the game as well. I must also say that the game is very well translated and most of the original text is kept in it except for a few jokes that were "americanized" due to the fact that most Americans wouldn't understand them because of their references to Japanese politics and culture. If you haven't already done so, please, PLEASE, buy this game, it is worth every dollar you spend on it! Also, if you ever manage to find Lunar 1, buy that as well, sadky enough WD stopped production of the game last year with no plans for a PSX2 re-release :-(. Be on the lookout for Lunar 3 as well coming to the PSX2 with an expected release date of 1st quarter 2002. I bought a PSX2 just for it! Also, this should cheer up some Lunar fans (if there are any that know about the game) Working Designs has mentioned a *POSSIBLE* translation and release of Mahou Gakuen Lunar (Magic School Lunar)! Mahou Gakuen Lunar is a game that takes us to the magic city of Vane where students from the Magic Guild embark on an adventure to save their beloved school on 18 quests (9 on the game gear version) all the while fighting a vicious evil trying to get in. Everything you do in the game is done for a grade in school, and believe me...a perfect A+ is *NOT* easy to achieve . The game was released for the game gear and Sega Saturn in Japan and has never been talked about for an American release until now! So keep your fingers crossed! |

THE GOOD: Best game since Fantasy 3 and Chrono Trigger! Awesome anime cutscenes and great story line!!!THE BAD: It's overlooked and should be recognized as a great game!!! SUMMARY: My favorite game since Final Fantasy 3. Wide range of characters and enough enemies to go around. Also the story line and plot are amzing! Finally the appearences of the old charecters like Ghaleon and Nall are really cool! |
