PSX  Prepare For A Bumpy Ride 3.0

THE GOOD:
All the authentic vehicles.
Varied mission objectives and set-pieces.
Totally new storyline.
Addictive multiplayer modes.
Cut-scene graphics are beautiful.

THE BAD:
In-game graphics are terrible.
Sluggish controls.
Short.
Sound quality fluxuates in some places.
Story unfolds through writing, not cut-scenes.
Relies heavily on the attraction of Bond.
Nothing new.

SUMMARY:
James Bond ventures out into his own driving-based game after EA think they've got enough experience from their single driving-based mission in "Tomorrow Never Dies"... oh dear indeed.

The premise of "007 Racing" is superb: a new supervillain has gained control of a deadly virus that he plans to release into the cities through injecting it into car exhaust systems, and Bond must use his array of Q-Branch vehicles to stop him before it's too late. Missions are varied and interesting, from infiltrating an underground laboratory in New York City to escaping a compund by driving your BMW 750iL by remote control, using security cameras to see where you steer your car. Weapons range from Hellfire and Stinger missiles to laser beams that can slice through the tyres of enemy vehicles. Fast, frantic fun wrapped up in an Aston Martin-shaped casing, yes?

No. Unfortunately for players, Q appears to have left out any kind of steering device from his latest automobiles. The cars are about as difficult to control as a milkfloat with burst tyres driving across the Moon's surface... with you wearing oven gloves... point made? With such a terrible handling system, any joy gained from successfully downing a helicopter is snatched from you as you struggle to drive around the next corner. And that's if you can even see the helicopter, as the graphics engine seems to have been constructed for a Sega MegaDrive title while you are in control. Granted, the two cut-scenes either end of the game's single player mode a beautifully crafted, but who cares when you can't control them?

The sound is another disappointment. Vital orders and instructions are muffled out by loud explosions and whining engines, whereas John Cleese manages to make his voice heard with multiple scolding comments about the paintwork. The interesting story is presented in screen after screen of writing, with no voice-over even though EA has hired Cleese to perform the character of R, and therefore the intentionally shocking introduction of characters such as Jaws are dampened by an emotionless stream of text. Supposedly exciting James Bond made as dull as watching paint dry.

If you are prepared to look past the graphics and can actually get to grips with the handling, there is some genuine fun to be had from "007 Racing", even in the split-screen multiplayer deathmatches and games of tag with an armed explosive. Unfortunately, enjoyment is not as it should be with EA displaying a sub-standard adventure with the 007 logo tacked on. Avoid, and play the driving missions from "Everything or Nothing" instead.

THE GOOD:
there are a lot of cars to choose from, such as aston martin or BMW, and there are very good missions to play. there are many powerups and bonuses such as rockets and missles

THE BAD:
The graphics are poor, and the sound effects aren't that real. some missions such as the second one, can get pretty tough, and even the radar is kinda messed up, but all PSX games probably are.

SUMMARY:
there are some twists and surprise, such as some very bad glitches. the only real problem is that the graphics may effect the playing of the game. if this was for PS2 or Xbox, people would do much better on it. overall, its a bad game to get for 20 dollars, but the spirit of the action james bond movies and games lives on. this driving game is good practice for other racing games and the control are easy to use, too.

THE GOOD:
This game is nearly good enough to kill for. This game is good because you get a mission briefing, Q- Branch vehicles: BMW, Aston Martin, and Lotus, exciting missions and beautiful women, ingenious gadgets: smoke screens, stinger missles, and more, dangerous assailants interfere from air, sea, and ground, 2-player action, 1-2 players, memory card 1 block, analog control compatible, vibration function compatible, and eutechynx.

THE BAD:
This game is bad in a way because it is rated teen for animated violence.

SUMMARY:
Be Bond, behind the wheel. Pay attention 007. This is for your eyes only. Q-Branch has re-engineered somew of your favorite automobiles with additional gadgets and firepower. You'll need everything they've got, plus your own uncanny ability to beat the oods. The free world is depending on you. Oh, one other thing before you go 007, try to bring them back in one piece.

THE GOOD:
...What is there to say here? All that's good is the graphics.

THE BAD:
Pretty much everything that wasn't listed in the Good side.

SUMMARY:
This game was not like I expected it to be. Please do not buy this game, as it is not worth the money. I am doing this for you to save you a couple of bucks. Go buy another James Bond game in place of this one. The only thing that was good about this game was the graphics. Everything else was rather bad.

THE GOOD:
Some nice idea's, Bond's cars, explosives.

THE BAD:
Crap graphics, sluggish gameplay, bad handling and multiplayer with no fun in it at all.

SUMMARY:
If you want some decent Bond action in a car, buy a £200 PlayStation2 and a £40 Agent Under Fire so you can play two short (but perfect) car-based Bond levels. If you don't have that kind of money, but do have a PSOne, get this for a laugh and then use the disk as a beer mat. Absolute bobbins.

The jury is still out on whether or not 007racing is a good idea, but the more wee see of it,the more it looks like it should be an interesting addition to EA games Bond lineup in November. The title is actually fairly mispleading-you never do any racing at all.Reps from ea tell us that the game is named such because the name reflects the genre, not the gameplay. It's actually more of a mission-based combat game with cars.Think medal of honor with Bond and Auston Martins

THE GOOD:
You get to shoot people w/ ur car.

THE BAD:
Graphics and playability
This game almost made me lose faith in video games...
thank goodness for $$$ back gaurentee's!!!

SUMMARY:
Graphics could have used a lil more work, but surfice for the time being, and as mentioned b4 in a markey over run by racing games,,bond should have stuck to spying geners and left the auto games to the true masters like Gran Turismo etc...
Sure the play engine is need for speed. But it plays like a broken record ona dvd player.

1 crap---------10 excellent

Playablity --- 3.0(disapointment all round)
Graphics --- 3.5(rough, like that of sandpaper on ur tongue)
Sound(s) --- 4.0(not too bad,,but not clear either)
Cars --- 2.0(what u get 5-7 to choose from? and 3 are almost the same!!)
Loading Time - 5.0(average for a playstation game)
Fun Factor -- 8.0 one 1 player mode (9.8 in 2 player mode)

Overall cost-- 8.5(suitably priced, if ur into buying crap)

**Rent b4 u buy this one***
if u cant rent it,,,dont worry ur not missing much, just put a b-b gun on a go-cart and u'll have the same amount of fun, heck even the stearing on the go cart handles like the game!! **Again, this is only my opinion(and that of the rest of our community) that this game is ok, but not purchase material.

With an oversturated market of racing games, James Bond tries to step up to the plate and score big. Unfortunatly, all he ever does is just run into the wall known as Gran Tourismo. Definatly not the best racing game out there, but if you are looking for a game that is fun for a little while and then return back to the movie store, 007 Racing is one of the better canidates for such a game.
