Background

Ubisoft has officially announced Splinter Cell Essentials, a mix of new and classic missions redesigned to take advantage of Sony's portable system. The game takes place after the events in the upcoming Splinter Cell Double Agent, but also uses flashbacks to delve into Sam Fisher's past -- and revisit familiar places. Non-exclusive missions are drawn from the entire franchise, including Double Agent.

Gameplay

Essentials will offer the fundamental sneak-and-attack gameplay of the Splinter Cell franchise, though with an interface adapted to the PSP. Sam Fisher's classic gadgets return, along with new gear exclusive to Essentials. You'll also be able to challenge others in a Spy vs. Spy Deathmatch mode via wireless connectivity.
