Background

Lumines is a puzzle game based on light and sound patterns.

Gameplay

A 2x2 box consisting of random combinations of four squares falls from the top of the screen. These squares come in one of two colors. You move the box left and right and rotate the squares, and can place the box down quickly by pressing the down button. Your goal is to form rectangular clumps of the same color of size 2x2 or greater, which then disappear from the playfield. A few special blocks make all like-colored pieces in the area disappear in one flash. If your blocks reach the top of the screen, the game ends.
