"The final target of blame is myself. I started playing The Amazing Spider-Man the day after I came back from a week-long trip to New York City, so it was quite a surprise to find that this digital representation of Manhattan was so painfully lifeless compared to the kinetic energy that emanated from every inch of the city. The Manhattan of ASM features scant few cars and pedestrians, making it feel less like The Capital of the World and more like a post-apocalyptic nightmare-scape. But despite how derivative The Amazing Spider-Man is, the game's main flaw is that it just isn't very much fun to play. The joys of swinging around the skies quickly fade, leaving you with an endless cycle of tasks that each play-out like diluted version of what Arkham Asylum and Arkham City did so much better. With summer is upon us, the days are long, the nights are longer, and the possibilities for entertainment are endless. Do yourself a favor and pass the time with something other than The Amazing Spider-Man."
"Based on the film reboot of the same name, Amazing Spider-Man the game was a great opportunity to renew the franchise. Instead, Activision is careful to make an exceedingly standard Spidey game, right down to the run of the mill version of New York City...Now with 100% more video review!"
"The Amazing Spider-Man is a fun and funny romp through a big, colorful city. "
"We're impressed with what we've seen of The Amazing Spider-Man so far. More importantly, it gives us hope for major publishers to put the same resourcing and care into its licensed properties as it does its own IP. The game will be webbing shelves in late June or early July to coincide with the film's release."
