Just Cause 2

I have no proof of this, but I'm pretty sure there's a rule written in the Just Cause 2 marketing plan that says every press demo must start with hero Rico Rodriguez standing on top of a mountain. The logic being, that in order to tackle a mission or do pretty much anything, he needs to jump off. And in doing so, the developers get to show off how great their game looks when he's falling in midair. So I wasn't surprised that when Square brought the game by last week for Just Cause 2's first hands-on demo, as soon as the loading screen disappeared, there was Rico ready for me to throw him off the edge. I think the developers were even a little offended when, at one point, I decided to walk him forward and slide my way down the cliff without jumping.

Preview: Total freedom, total destruction, it's Rico time!

We can see for miles and miles in this huge open-world action game. But that's only when we're not tormenting enemies with a grapple hook.
