I am now dressed like a Big Daddy. Even turning down the sound, upping the volume and sound of the dialogue hasn't helped much with speech. #BioShock #PS3

Enjoying the plot; graphically appealing; okay atmosphere, though seen better; combat is slightly annoying; pointless difficulty: respawn #BioShock #PS3

Background

After your plane crashes into icy uncharted waters, you discover a rusted bathysphere and descend into Rapture, a city hidden beneath the sea. Constructed as an idealistic society for a hand picked group of scientists, artists and industrialists, the idealism is no more. Now the city is littered with corpses, wildly powerful guardians roam the corridors as little girls loot the dead, and genetically mutated citizens ambush you at every turn.

Gameplay

Bioshock is a first-person shooter, but not in the traditional sense. Like its spiritual predecessor, System Shock 2, Bioshock allows the player to implement different powers, known as Plasmids, in order to defeat their foes and manipulate the environment in a variety of ways. Another element of the game that differs from other shooters is the Tonic system. Tonics are enhancements to your character that are in effect as soon as they are equipped. Some effects of Tonics can include things such as increased defense against enemy attacks as well as allowing you to reap more benefits from hacking vending machines and the like.

Features

  • Immersive graphics
  • Over 70 total Tonics and Plasmids
  • Two different endings that depend on your choices throughout the game
  • Change your character anytime by rearranging your tonics and plasmids to adapt to specific situations
