THE GOOD: The cut sceences, the story, all the wepons, and you get a little Katana! THE BAD: The game is kinda short, the AI is very stupid, and some guys you can waste alot of ammo on and they won't die.....and you can only hold two wepons! SUMMARY: I realy liked this game,it was fun,had a good story and lots of blood! but there were alot of problems, not with lags or glitches, just the very stupid AI,you could stand infront of someone and shoot them, and it would seem they could't see you. and there is those people that you can unload rounds out of both of your wepons and not kill someone. But I loved the cut sceenes, and your little sword you get. but the thing I realy loved was all of the wepons you could get! yes you could only hold two at a time and that sucked, but you always find something better, there is the Plasma Rifles and pistols, the shotgun, the sniper rifle, then there is this Chaos gun that sets people on Fire! so the selction of wepons are realy great, and the other cool thing is that you play a different race! your not Human! in this game you kill them! wich is a change of pace once in awhile, while it was kinda hard to see the text and hear the VO's,you still got the point with all the fighting and people dying, and it has an Ok replay value,I say this is a good game to waste a weekend on! |

THE GOOD: Good level design, excellent playability, atmospheric and true to its source materialTHE BAD: It's not exactly ground breaking SUMMARY: If you have a big pile of FPS games then you won't find a huge amount of new ideas here. But if you want a new one or it's been a while since you've played one, then this is the best one that's come on the market for quite a while. You play a Tau Warrior an Alien Race that is thrown into conflict with the Imperium- the evil... errr Humans! It's all set in 24 hours which have to be the bloodiest in your history as you tear away at enemies in the Trenches of your home world, on your boarded spaceship and deep into the heart of an Imperial Battleship. The feeling is very gothic rather than high scifi with grime and bad lighting everywhere.
The game play is excellent with the enemy AI more than able to give you a run for your money ( I saw some Imperial guards run away form my grenade and a chaplin charged me with his chaion sword when he saw me reloading) and enough variation in the missions to stop the long and well designed levels from getting boring.
In terms of saving you can only do so after each level but there are check points in all levels. Some of these levels are big. I was on one where I had to avoid cameras take out guards, open lifts and plant bombs the whole thing took me over half an hour first time I did it.Don't worry there isn't too much stealth stuff but there is enough variation to stop it being 21 levels of "Kill 'em all".
There are also some excellent scripted events that add impact to the proceedings and the cut scenes are fun too.
I've played the split screen multiplayer and there are no bots to fight with but against other humans there's enough to keep you happy. I don't have an online PS2 so can say nothing on that.
This can definitley punch its weight against any other PS2 shoot 'em up around and a lot of attention has been paid to all the elements- sound, graphics, payability, story line, difficulty etc. So it is well worth the cash, if you are however looking for something really different then this may dissapoint. |
