SUMMARY:
I mainly purchased this game since I enjoyed the two previous Ty titles. Though it is fun to play, it lacks a few good aspects the other games have, and has a long reload time until you want to play it again.

Storyline: 7/10

I'm not really into the storyline of this game.

Shortly after Boss Cass is jailed, Ty and his "friend" Shazza are urgently contacted by the Elder. His world is under attack by the Quinkan. Ty and Shazza enter a portal to the "Dreamtime" and, as you yourself fulfill through a training intro, return peace there. After strenuous training, they return back to earth, but Quinkan manage to disrupt the travel through the portal, separating Ty and Shazza. After Ty's arrival, he finds he's been gone for 6 months, which was all the time needed for the Quinkan to arrive on Earth! Now that Ty is back, they attempt to reform Bush Rescue and clean out the outback of the Quinkan.

It's okay, just not the best storyline that Krome Studios has made.

Gameplay: 8/10

Unlike the first and second Ty games, you're able to purchase stones, which can be easily placed inside rang chassis to give them different abilities. With a few logical restrictions, you can mix different stones together to form the perfect rang for you, and with the best rang (which contains 6 chassis slots) you can truly make very powerful combinations. This aspect of the game is very enjoyable indeed.

The second Ty game contained so many hidden items, it could get overwhelming. This game doesn't have as many, so it isn't quite as long a game as a result. A few items don't require knowledge of where to get it, just how to get them. The puzzles may be fun or may annoy you, depending on your attention span.

Ty's controls are much improved, making a few of his attacks more useful and less annoying. The game's first is combo attacks, which are used when firing your boomerangs point blank. These are also custom, since you can use different button combos, and your rang chassis/stones can make a bigger impact of damage.

Ty hasn't only on foot gameplay since the second title, and he has more vehicles to play on this one, including the Crabmersible, a walking tank used to travel to mission locations, the Gunyip, an aerial combat vehicle used to fend off air forces, robot suits, used to handle missions requiring explosive power, and karts, used in racing challenges. Unfortunately, submarines were taken out of the game.

The exploration of the world itself, though interesting and filled with enemies, just don't have the freedom and room that the 2nd title gave. The second Ty's landscape is much more interesting in regards to scenery.

Game Longevity: 7/10

Again, the game doesn't last long. There are a good chunk of things to find, but once you get the best rang chassis and max it out with item-seeking stones (Ultra Stones) and purchase all of the visual map locations for the items you'll blow through the game in no time. Still, this game is fun and not frustrating.

Multiplayer: 5/10

The game has the same two-player racing from the second title, except you get better weapons and the tracks are a bit more interesting.

The new mode is Gunyip battles, where you can select I believe 5 different aircrafts and dogfight against a friend in a few maps.

Though these games are fun in the short run, they get boring fast. Try a game devoted to multiplayer gaming.

Replay Value: 6/10

Though fun, I wouldn't replay this game very often. Even the first or second title aren't worth replaying very often. This doesn't mean that the games aren't good, far from it. They are just the game types that are fun to replay after months (or years) on the shelf.

Conclusion

This game receives a 4/5. Though the game may get done quickly and may not be fun playing very often, the game is still enjoyable when you do feel in the mood for it. This one contains the largest variety in vehicles to pilot, and has a good chunk of stuff to do, including just exploring the routes. This game wasn't mass produced, so it is a bit hard to find in stores, though you might find one at a gamestore with a case and booklet every now and then. I recommend looking at a gamestore for one, and only buy it online as last resort.
