The ThingTHE GOOD: -Great storyline -Time comsuming -Definitely takes you out of the real world -Requires 100% strategy
THE BAD: -Irritating at times -Very jumpy -Exceptionally hard
SUMMARY: I loved this movie from 1982. Loved it. Kurt Russel was the man. So when I saw it for 9 bucks at movie gallery, I had to pick it up. (I actually broke my commitment with myself to only buy a game when I beat the last one ).
At first I was just confused; I had to pay attention to fear and trust, and once I started to act funny, my characters started yelling at me. Very realistic. Once I got the hang of the easy stuff, I started to realize how hard the game was. It takes a ton of strategy and you can't just shoot your way through. You must develop a very good system. For example, the only way I could beat one "thing" was if I fired at it with a sniper rifle from the balcony, got it to chase me, created a barrier of fire so that it had to go around the room to get me, fire at it with a shotgun for a while, then go down the stairs and finish it off with a machine gun. THEN, I had to lead it into a room, run around the table, close the door, wait a second, open the door and toss a few grenades in it. THEN I had to get it with a flame thrower. Took me maybe a day for that one.
The Thing is, however, an acquired taste. You can't expect to be immediately addicted. Takes plenty of time.
One more thing: Don't play it at night. I made that mistake and was walking along looking at a dead body, until the head exploded and a spider "thing" jumped out at my face. I almost filled my shorts.
