Street Fighter in 3D (Kind of) | 4.0 0 comments |
by Kokoro from , MI, | May 28, 2005 |
THE GOOD: Having Street Fighter in 3D is nice for a change.
A good selection of characters
Evil Ryu and Bison 2 are secret unlcokable characters.
The addition of Meteor Combos (Kind of like a more powerful version of super combos)
The graphics are good.
Tag Team gameplayTHE BAD: Bison 2 can only be used in original mode.
Shin Bison isn't playable at all. (Unless maybe with a cheat device)
No option to fight characters for more than one round. SUMMARY: Difficulty: Medium
This is the only 3D Street Fighter game I've played let alone owned. And it's a good game. In this game they finally give Evil Ryu red eyes and you get to fight Shin Bison. The Tag team gameplay is cool and it's also optional incase you want to fight with only 1 person but you can't have a team when you use Bison 2 for some weird reason. You can also get medals in this game but some of them are pretty hard to get. I still haven't gotten all of them yet. You might come back to this game more when you have to friends around to play with.
If you like Street Fighter games and 3D fighting games then this might be the game for you. But I have heard this game is kind of hard to find.
I rate this game a 4/5. (8/10) |

THE GOOD: Plenty of unlockable characters, new and old alike Good game when you’ve got a bunch of friends roundTHE BAD: No option to go for more than one round Couple of characters you can’t use in more than one mode, and one you can’t get at all Easy game
SUMMARY: Everyone has heard of Street Fighter. This is a game where there isn’t really a whole bunch in it that you haven’t seen before. There’s all the old favourites like Ryu, Ken and Bison as well as a couple of new ones like Shadow. There’s no real storyline to this game, not that that’s what you play it for, although they do try and make it seem like there is one by giving you some monologue after you beat a character’s main mode.
One of the more amusing parts of this game is once you beat the final boss you can endlessly (well, until the credits run out) beat up about 7 characters at once and there’s no limit to your special bar. It’s almost more fun trying to see how many you can kill here as it was beating the game in the first place. There’s no health bars or anything, you can’t be killed and the others only take a couple of hits to knock out, but it’s fun nonetheless.
Also when playing the main mode there are certain tasks you are set. These range from getting a perfect (taking no damage) to getting credited with 4 counter attacks. There are 4 levels, bronze, silver, gold and platinum, for you to do on every stage. Setting the difficulty to normal gives you access to the bronze and silver challenges and setting the difficulty to hard gives you the gold and platinum ones. When you get all the platinum ones you unlock Evil Ryu to use and Bison II to use only in the main mode. The fact you can only use him there is highly frustrating as he would prove useful in other modes. It’s little things like this that prove very annoying in the game.
The main downside to this game is that it is very easy to beat the computer. There’s a mode where you can take on 3 people at once and it’s fairly easy to beat them. Only a character called Shin Bison (who you fight in the Arena section once beating the platinum medals) proves any sort of challenge and actually makes you work. It makes me wonder why, if they can make a character fight like that, why not make an option to make them all fight like that? I played a Street Fighter game on the PSX where there was a difficulty where it was hard to beat anybody. That caused me to play that game a lot more than this one.
Also this is about the 15th Street Fighter game or so, so people may find the series going a bit stale and to be honest there isn’t that much here to please anyone but the die-hard Street Fighter fans. But the options to fight Shin Bison and 3 people at once are the main things that cause me to play this game over and over again but apart from that there isn’t much else there. Once you’ve gotten all the medals it’s not worth playing the main mode anymore because the hardest difficulty is way too easy. And you can beat 3 people at once in one mode. On the PSX version I mentioned earlier there were 8 levels of difficulty. Never in a million years could I beat 3 people at once on level 8 in that game, just one person was hard enough at times. Sadly all there is here is easiness.
There’s so much that could have been done better that I do wonder what companies think at times... |

Street fighter EX 3 | 4.5 0 comments |

THE GOOD: better graphics, tag team fighting style, All characters have special attributes and costume. SOme have special tag team level three moves for when done it looks spectacular.THE BAD: Easy difficulty means easy to beat the game not much of a challenge as Street fighter EX2 was. Very little stages it needs more peper and spice in this game to have serious competiton. SUMMARY:
YOu can still cancel your special moves with supercombos and can tag in while opponent is still hurt and cancel it with a super.
THe problem is that the guardbreak is free which means you could do it forever but a drawback is that it doesnt really break the guard not much of a name for this move.
CApcom should have had this game in rounds format and not just some one round battle . We need games that are rounds to have competition.
IN the end its a average game but I respect street fighter all the way. |

THE GOOD: - more super hidden characters - bison 2 is now available without gameshark - original characters are now unlockable or you have to unlock them - 2 new hidden bonus characters - more options and gamplay modes - a new and very hard boss - you can now use 2 players on 2 playersTHE BAD: - some bosses you fight cannot be played as
SUMMARY: street fighter ex3 is by far the best ex game around. it has 2 new hidden bonus characters such as evil ryu and shin bison. we all know who evil ryu but some of us are not familiar with shin bison. shin bison is the top predetor in the game. he is the strongest bison of all. the bad news is that you can't make him playable but you can go up against him. other super hidden characters include sakura and dark kiari. we all know who sakura is, as for dark kairi he is basically your new akuma. it has new modes better and harder options. more secrets to unlock.
overral the game is suspensful(making you want more, or eger to know who the next character is?) |

THE GOOD: Keeps the original characters from the previous games, also the same moves and feel.THE BAD: Not quite as fast as the 2D SF games, some strange characters, graphics not as good as they can be and the game mechanics are flawed. SUMMARY: Ive played SF many many times on many different consoles and allways its had the same playable, quick and frantic feel but the new PS2 incarnation looses some of that old magic. Firstly the new characters are a bit strange, not all mind you only that bones dude, who seems a little out of place. The variation in the fighting moves has dropped since the 2D versions, the moves are too easy to pull of and dont seem to be too rewarding when done. The graphics arent what you would expect from the ps2, the colours are bland and the texturing is poor, the characters look like cell drawings and bad ones at that. The control system is a little flawed but not bad. I dont think this is really an improvement on any of the SF EX series and i must admit none so far have hit the mark, roll on SF EX4... |

THE GOOD: Awesome Graphics, old Street Fighter characters, and lots of awesome multiplayer modes.THE BAD: Too easy. You can get all of the secret characters in an hour, two at the most. Also, you can't use the joysticks, which would make the combos easier. SUMMARY: I have never played this game before, but it's great. This game is so fun it's hard to stop playing it. But where did they come up with all of these weird secret characters? WHAT EVER HAPPENED TO E. HONDA??? HE WAS COOL! |

THE GOOD: It has Evil Ryu.THE BAD: There are2 aces and that doesn't make any sense why there is 2. SUMMARY: This game is the best series out of the other Street Fighter Ex series. Even though there is no Akuma, Evil Ryu is a good replacement because Evil Ryu is the strongest fighter and the number 1 player too. |

THE GOOD: great graphics, familiar ex charactersTHE BAD: combo system isn't all that great SUMMARY: Good game, now if we could only figure out how to unlock Akuma. Look closely, if you go to random select, he DOES appear. This kept me up for days, come on capcom, spill the beans. |
