Spider-Man, Spider-Man, does whatever a Spider can - and more! | 5.0 0 comments |
by Galacticdramon from , , | Feb 8, 2005 |
THE GOOD: - Many types of Missions - Enormous game world - The freedom to go almost anywhere in Manhattan - Loads of Moves to obtain - Collecting everything will take many, many hoursTHE BAD: - The remix of "Does Whatever A Spider Can" which plays during the Credits Sequence... SUMMARY: When most people think of film tie-in games, they think "oh for goodness' sake, not another one!", don't they? Well, those opinions don't matter, because this is the best film tie-in game, the best Super-Hero game and the best Spidey outing ever!
The control system is amazing. Almost all of Spidey's combos can be executed using four buttons! And there are a LOT of Combos to acquire with your "Hero Points", which can then be used to purchase whatever you need from the Spidey Stores.
So, we see the Friendly Neighbourhood Spider-Man taking on the less-friendly, not someone you would wish to have in your neighbourhood Super-Villains including Rhino, Shocker and Mysterio. Throughout the game, the slightly self-centred Black Cat advises Spidey on how to get through balancing his girl trouble and his Super-Hero duties - balancing winning MJ back from her new boyfriend and remembering Uncle Ben's advice isn't exactly easy, you know! BC also has a slightly disturbing way of knowing exactly where the villains are - Shocker in particular.
In your spare time, you can patrol Manhattan, seeking out criminals and promptly giving them a taste of Spidey's various attacks, or rescue people hanging from buildings, left with a broken leg after a car crash, trapped aboard sinking boats, etc.
They couldn't have made this game any better (well, OK, perhaps they could have given us the ORIGINAL theme for the Credits), and I thoroughly recommend it to anyone - well, anyone aged 12+ due to the Age Rating, of course.
However, before you begin to play this game, just remember what your old Uncle Ben told you - "With great power...comes great responsibility"... |

the best spider-man game by far | 4.1 0 comments |

THE GOOD: - so many moves at your disposal - wide open city with lots to see - good animations - no pop-up (suprising, since the city is huge) - Bruce Campbell is backTHE BAD: - no lip syncing on some of the characters - random crimes get b-o-r-i-n-g - controls take a while to adjust - graphics are just average - short story mode - hard to navigate through the city - not enough secrets to unlock compared to the other SM games SUMMARY: This is a much better game than the first Spider-Man for PS2. However, there are still many problems. The story line is way too short and while the random crimes are fun they get too tedious. The controls were hard for me to learn. It was hard to navigate through the city with the minimap, you would constantly pressing select for the big map which takes you out of the experience. This was still a very fun game with great fights and a HUGE list of moves to learn. Excellent addition to the average movie. |

THE GOOD: - Remodeled Wed Swinging
- Cool Acrobatics and Fighting Moves
- You Get to fully explore a HUGE remake of new york city
- Side Quests
- Upgrades
- Infinite Webbing this time
- Spidey moves more fluidly
- And lots more!THE BAD: - Character models suck
- Civilian missions are too repetitive
- Too many secret things to find (although you can finish the story and play all you want without them anyways) SUMMARY: Spider-Man 2 is the greatest spidey game ever made, and a great game for any collection. The swinging a whole lot more accurate and fun this time, which makes just web swinging around the city very entertaining. You get to help citizens in trouble although those missions could have been a little more variated. Bruce Campbell's narrating is as funny as ever and it's a great comic relief.
This is a great game for Spidey fans and the average gamer alike. I'd recommend you buy it ASAP. |

SUMMARY: Overall Spider-Man 2 is a very good game. If your not quite so sure then simply rent it. This is the kind of game for MARVEL and Spidey fans.
There are many glitches in this game. So I warn you to save your receipts just to be on the safe side and so you can get a sucessful exchange. |

THE GOOD: ~The whole of New York ~Your Spider man ~Swinging form web ~kick bad guys ass's ~The graphicsTHE BAD: ~Repetitive ~Where's the music most the time? SUMMARY: The first time you look at the screen shots you will see that it looks really good, good graphics, good quality, and when you play it you won't believe your eyes, then you will see how much the PS2 can handle. Ok you are Spider man and you are in New York. Along the main story you will encounter many villians that you need to stop or many people to save.
It's amazing how you have all of New Yok to explore, and to add the fun to it you can use your web to attach your self to bulidings, and swing off of them. This is really fun, but beware if your a qweezy person who gets head aches real easily then you might want to walk or run on the foot paths as it is a bit much some times when your doing lots of flips and going up side down, dropping etc.
A dissapointing point is when you are free roaming about (which is fun) there usually isn't any music, and it will feel really dead sometimes. In the city you free roam around untill you find a crime then you deal with it though this can get a bit repetitive after doing so many of these car chases, and stuff like that.
As spider man you meet up with people from the movie like M.J, (Mary Jane) it's fun to catch up on all these people, but sometimes you feel like smacking them in the face, but you can't. You can't even hi jack cars, oh I wish that you could. When faced up with enemies you have a combination of cool fighting moves you can pull on them, or you could just use your web to tangle them up. Either way it's pretty interseting.
Overall this is an interesting game, however this game will be really fun at first then eventually it will get a bit tiresome. It's up to you if you want it or not, but to play it safe, you should rent before you buy. |

THE GOOD: Voice Acting Story Game play Graphics WEb slinging The helpful tutorials The crimes Everything else not mentioned belowTHE BAD: The only soubdtrack is when something important is happening, like a main story mission.
SUMMARY: It is a very very good game, possibly the best of the yar, well...until San andreas comes out. the voices are very well worker, swinging from roof top to rooftop to brooklyn bridge is amazing, the sites and sounds of manhattan are incedible!!!! THe upgrades get better and are really worth playing for. The story is long and gripping an will keep you hooked for a long time. from the same guys who made (A very dissapointing) True Crime have really re-deemed themselves with this masterpiece of a game!!! Buy this game, even if you have to sell your grandma!!!!

THE GOOD: Web Slinging! Free Roaming New York! Rag Doll Physics!THE BAD: No Unlockables Impossible Timed Missions Combat Voice Acting Side Missions Bosses Mysterio Random Missions SUMMARY: If it weren't for the webslining this game would downright suck! The cammera is bad, combat is worse and the timed missions are hard as hell! Webslinging is the game's only redeeming feature. Without it I would have given this game a 0. The other aspects of the game are that terrible. But that just says how truly great the web slinging is. If you get good at it the timed missions(or at least some of them) become really fun! So long story short, only buy if you are a hardcore spidey fan. Otherwise you just panned out 50 bucks for webslinging free roaming New York! |

THE GOOD: The good part about this game is that you can roam around. You can also buy some pretty good combos with the hero points you earn. THE BAD: The crimes get boring after the thousandth time. The graphics are not the the best either. SUMMARY: This is a good game. It's way better than the first. The villians are awesome. And they made Doc Ock about as good as the movie. Black Cat is good teamate but Activision should not of made it so that she is invincible, because on all the missions with her you can just hide somewhere where the villians can't get you and just let her fight for you. i personnaly think that that was a bad idea. The music is OK. It also gets good when you are on a timed mission and the music really gets you pumped up to shove a crooks face in the dirt. The MJ, Daily Bugle, and pizza missions get a bit annoying. Probably because you do the same thing over and over again. Just in different places. I think they did a good job hiding the secret and skyscraper tokens. The boey tokens are a pain, you have to do the same thing 130 times. The hideout tokens are also good. I think this game would be a game that you would want to keep in your collection. It is a great game. |
