Shinobi

People continue to be divided as to whether old franchises of games should be brought back to life on newer consoles. Some argue that 3d resurrections of 2d classics simply milk a name, bringing back a childhood memory or oft-played classic in a form that has no resemblance outside of title. Others argue that these revivals are doing the things right that mainstream titles these days are quickly losing sight of. Interestingly enough, Shinobi is essentially fueling both arguments simultaneously.

Promising roots

We meet our badass ninja, Hotsuma, as he leaps off the side of a helicopter in the middle of a war zone. Hotsuma is the last of his clan; the magical warlord currently threatening Japan has been able to reanimate the corpses of Hotsuma's clansmen to use as soldiers for his nefarious purposes. Hotsuma soon buries his sword into the side of a nearby skyscraper to slow his ascent, and lands gracefully on the ground below.

THE GOOD:
Mainly the story-line.

THE BAD:
The Graphics

SUMMARY:
I really think the company should create a new Shinobi, because the graphic is terrible, and the sound effects aren't that good either!

The enemies are really hard and you can't even block. That is one of the terrible things, but I beated the game, but to tell you, those enemies are tough, especially those Steel Dogs with a Knife on their mouth. Those are the hardest yet evilest enemies I've faced and I barely made it to the boss in Chapter 3a-b ...

The third worst thing is that there are no arsenols, maps, I really think they should work even harder than this because I think they are just lazy ... but about the graphics, there really can't be much change since it isn't like XBox or Ninja Gaiden ...

Ninja Gaiden is the top best games ever except for the Camera, but the Camera is fine to me because I am an expert!

THE GOOD:
Run on walls

the cool kill 3 people at once thing.

THE BAD:
Killing monsters quickly in order to get your sword stronger to kill a boss starts to turn into a must, and gets quite annoying.
Gets old fast, you'll do the same things over and over.
Some enemies are very tough, and some bosses may seem too easy.
Short.

SUMMARY:
When I got this game, I expected all the wrong things coming outta this. It's fun at first w/ the dashes and all, but it just gets boring after a while. The game is pretty short, that is unless you try to get all of the secrets and junk. (which you should) but even then when you do, you probably will have had enough and not want to play the game over again just to see how it is w/ someone else. Maybe a level or 2 just to get a quick look. All in all, people that like long games like RPGs, probably shouldn't get it. People that liked Arcade type...

THE GOOD:

SUMMARY:
This game is yet another amazing game, almost as good as the origional shinobi with joe musashi! Although the game is quite hard in places, it makes it up to you with the sheer thrill of running on the walls and shadow dashing. This game is the closest thing to a truly authentic ninja game but its not for gamers who lose their cool easy because this game can get amazingly difficult at times. If i were you and i didn't have the game then i'd buy it, but thats because i have played the origional and know how much more advanced we have come in the way of gameplay. Think about how sweet it feels when you are dashing across the screen, slashing as you go, killing everything in sight, and suddenly with one final blow, you stop dead as you are treated by every enemy you killed splitting in half and falling to dust...

bleh, game like.. you play it, with shinobi, and then you attack people, bosses to repetitive, gets annoying, ya know, the basic

Umm.... This is an edit, But, I just read this, it was pretty harsh, I just don't like this game, but the creators of this game made some games i love.. Just not this one.

THE GOOD:
Nonstop action great graphics deliver a nonstop exciting time

THE BAD:
The story line unfolds slow and bad blood effects

SUMMARY:
I love this game it is really O.K.If your gonna buy this game dont even consider the bads they will fade a way as you play. making it one of the best gaming choices youll ever make........or any ways that is what i think.But it gets annoying having to restart levels ever time ou die except against bosses.

THE GOOD:

SUMMARY:
all the stages propes a challenge
hard stages make the game funner and longer once again screw my spelling. The hardest stage is 3-b the dam tiger spider is a pain in the ass just go in to a tate and kick the crap out of him. Oh the tanks are to easy just get on top of them and keep jumping and hiting them till they stop this is form stage 4-a and b it works like a charm

THE GOOD:
Absolutely perfect controls, Very good graphics, virtually zero glitches, the main character is a bad-ass with very neat abilities, challenging, a cool story...

THE BAD:
Sometimes it just gets too damn hard for it's own good, the camera isn't very good at keeping up with the action, the level design's layouts are really boring, and the combat will sometimes get old.

SUMMARY:
This game should come with a warning label saying this:

WARNING! THE FOLLOWING GAME CONTAINS INSANELY FRUSTRATING AND DIFFICULT CHALLENGES AND IS NOT RECOMMENDED FOR CASUAL AND EASILY FRUSTRATED PEOPLE.

With that said, Shinobi is without a doubt, THE hardest video game I have ever played. The difficulty is as high as Stuntman's, and possibly more. The first 2 levels ain't so bad, but then the difficulty goes from Easy to Medium Hard, to Very hard, to Incredibly Hard, to Insane, and finishes off...

THE GOOD:
Tate! which makes for a crazy battling system. The movies

Short and lack of features really brings down replay time. The music

SUMMARY:
This game is good! The movies are top notch and keeps the action hot, but i really think the greatest feature is the game is its Tate system. this allow you to kill up to 8 enimeies at almost once. then after this is doe it gives you a awsome camera angle as each enemy splits in half.

Asides from this is the fact that Shinobi is an awesome character. able to run on walls, double jump and move at light speed. The control really shines here aswell, since all of his movements are at you finger tips. The only thing i thought the game was lacking in was its music and the time it takes to beat it, yet hard-core gamers may find some relief in hard mode but not much.

It's an excellent game, no doubt about it. I think the only thing wrong with it is the insane difficulty. there'll definately be times that you'll be screaming at your character as he falls off the screen or gets killed for the umteenth time. But overall, the gameplay itself is actually quite nice, it forces you to acuire some mad skillz as you progress through the game. And at the end, if your good enough, u can unlock different characters and levels, which will require quite some time to attain. The visuals are excellent, the voiceovers are great. Although i wish it didn't have some of the demonic characters and as much blood as it did, it really didn't get in the way of the game itself.
