Hot Shots Golf 3 is a great title, but it just wasn't really what you call in-depth. | 3.7 0 comments |

THE GOOD: Graphics are cartoonish, but that sort of works in this type of game. Selection of character, some funny phrases, somewhat difficult.THE BAD: Only five tournaments, some modes are sub-par, odd looking characters. SUMMARY: Clap Hanz has created a very odd game. Some parts are good, and some are bad. Nonetheless, HSG3 is a pretty good golf game, but it just doesn't have a lot of value to it. Only Five tournaments, and some wide range of characters, which in this case, is not really good. Note, this was the first HSG game I have played, so there might be a different way of explaining if I had played the others first. Long loading times, and too many glitches seems to be the case of some PS2 games, and this one was certainly no exception. About 20 Characters that you can master, since they all have very, very different hitting styles. You get to play at five very unique courses, one more inspiring than the other. But, that is why the rating is so low. The game does not have a lot of depth, and what there is, will get repetitive after about a week. If you think about buying this game, I highly recommend you rent it first, but you really should not be dissapointed, it is a good all around title. |

THE GOOD: Great Graphics, funny characters, good and accurate Golf physics, many unlockables such as courses, clubs. 5 Costumes per character, and just plain entertaiing.THE BAD: AI could be smarter, but there is an option to make the very best AI ever, Sound was mediocre, save for the caddies. SUMMARY: Well I hate sports games of all kinds until this past May when I bought NFL 2K3, what a mistake, I also bought this game in June. Never have I had so much fun witha game of this caliber. It provides a deep challenge, FunX10, many laughs. the physics were pretty good, especially for Sand traps, precision is key. The forumula for accurate hits may be tired and true but when used in this style of game it becomes a whole new game factor. There are a ton of unlockables, a trophy room, a shop and even different clubs. This is the Golf Game to get. Only minuses was the sound and some gameplay errors. But I recommend it to anyone, since it is part of Sony's Greatest Hits' Lineup for only 20 American Dollars.

THE GOOD: Keeps me wanting yo play.....THE BAD: I think the play-testers were on crack...I wish I could screw up that bad and still get paid. SUMMARY: I find it hard to believe that I am the only person out here that has a good complaint about this game. It has more flaws in it than any game I have ever played. There are way way way way way way too many. Too many cacti, and trees I cant shoot around for no aparent reason, no matter how many times I try. Or how about that loss of yardage for no aparent reason, and I mean serious yardage like 40 yards. Or how about the streams or ponds you cant shoot over till youre a sertain distance from them, or on a certain numbered shot. Or how about those canyons or gullys, what ever you want to call them, that you cant shoot over no matter how hard you try or what you do. Basicly not being able to shoot over out of bounds areas, lakes, trees, canyons, it don't matter. Or heres a good one your character shoots 20 feet short for a while so you adjust to shoot farther then the character starts to shoot normal then you are over-shooting. Im sure there are other things I just cant think of them right now......How about some input from some of you out there......Don't any of you get frustrated at these things, or other things???????????? |

THE GOOD: The gameplay is awesome. The visuals are so crisp.THE BAD: I haven't found anything yet. SUMMARY: I had been looking for a good golf game for a while before I bought Wailie Golf. I thought I had played the best golf game out there, then I played a demo of Hot Shots Golf 3 and I was blown away. If you're even a little into golf, get this game quickly!!!

Too Hot Part II | 5.0 0 comments |

Sequels often try to outdo their predecessors with usually disappointing results. Thankfully Clap Hanz kept the winning formula that Camelot injected into the original and just gave us more of it. They did remove the kiddie "super-deformed look", which will probably help make this title appeal to those who passed over HSG2. Intact are great control, bright and colorful environments, a billion things to unlock and some interesting characters. This is one of the best video golf games on the market today. Yes, even besting Tiger at his own game.
The control scheme is simple and easy for anyone to get into right away. Simply point the cursor at the section of course you wish to go to, press X to start the power gauge, then press X again to decide the power you wish to hit the ball. Holding the direction pad in either 4 directions will apply top or backspin, or draws and fades. It's a very simplistic control scheme that works like a million bucks.
Not only is the game a pleasure to play, but it just begs you to "keep going for one more" because there is just so much to unlock. At the start of the game, there are only 3 players, but you'll have a chance to unlock lots more by beating them one-on-one in the versus mode. You'll also be able to unlock balls, courses, and clubs.
The game also offers golf standby's such as Skins, Tournament, Stroke, Match-Play and the aforementioned Versus mode. If that isn't enough for some reason, up to 4 players can hit the virtual links and play around making this a great game to sit around play when company is over.
So many golf games today try to entice you with real courses, real players and difficult control schemes and yet none of them have the playability of Hot Shots Golf 3. This game is by far my favorite golf game on any system at the moment. Highly recommended! The weather is amazing, and there ia an online tournament.

THE GOOD: Lots of tournaments, lots of unlockable stuff and hidden characters. Doesn't take itself too seriously.THE BAD: Sometimes the sound, but that isn't even too bad if you block it out which is pretty easy to do. Simplistic gameplay and only a few real life characters. SUMMARY: Cool Graphics the scenery looks very realistic. There are alot of things to unlock and the fact that you're always trying to beat your old score gives this game a high replay value.
I like the gameplay and the controls. They could have added some more stuff but I still think its pretty good the way it is.
The game lets you save two or more players on a memory card, you can also share one PS2 controller between 2 people, so you don't need to buy an extra controller. You can probably play 4 people on the same controller, I haven't tried that out yet.
This game reminds me alot of SSX and SSX Tricky in that I think it is really ground breaking. Hotshots Golf 3 is a really fun game if you like golf just for leisure, although it also seems fairly realistic. |
