Good Game | 4.9 0 comments |
by Zerofangirl
| Feb 18, 2005 |
THE GOOD: Nice graphics, very good selection, nice cutscenes, hard bosses.THE BAD: Some of the voices of the heroes/characters Annoying repeats Unlocking X SUMMARY: What makes this game tick is the awsome graphics and power ups. Also, I love the characters, mostly Zero, and their abilities. This is probably the best Megaman X game there is with the exception of X8 (which I don't have! Grr...) and Command Mission. Also, those weapons are like...rightous dude (kidding, but they really are cool)
The thing which makes this game bad is some of the voices to the characters in this game. The only voices that seem to fit are Signas', Sigma's,Alia's, and Zero's (to me). Axl sounds alot like Rudolph the red nose reindeer who got a hold to some fire power. Also, X's voice...no comment. Also, well...this isn't bad but when Sigma turned into a freakishly huge guy, I almost laughed my butt off, but was soon defeated. But surprisingly, he's not harder than Red and he's suppose to be the final boss.
Also, On Flame Hyenard's stage, he and his clones JUST WON'T SHUT UP!!!!
Flame Hyenard and his two clones: BURN! BURN! BURN TO THE GROUND! BUR-BURN TO THE GROUND! BURN! BURN!
IT DRIVING ME NUTS!!!!!! X(
Also, Why the heck do you have to unlock X? He's (supposedly) usually the main character, why else would would it be called Megaman X!?
So, this game has a few ups and downs, but still has great playing. Hope Capcom makes more games. |

Rockman X7 RULES | 5.0 0 comments |
by doug the hedgehog from , , | Jul 8, 2004 |
THE GOOD: most of it its all good,AXL RULESTHE BAD: too short, why the hell do u have to unlock X? SUMMARY: OMG this game rules it may not be as good as the originals but who cares it perfect 3D rockman,AXl,Zero and X make one kick ass team with the new switch system u can choose a team of two and switch to tackle selected character routes, the main problem is that X has to be unlocked why is it called Rockman X7 if hes hardly used? i upgraded AXL and Zero then i got Rockman (who is crap compaired to a leveled up AXL and Zero)so whats the point. The story line rocks AXL is sooo cool i cant wate to see if hes in command mission!! he better be or capcom will get lotsa hate mail from me! its much better than Rockman network transmission for the Gamecube since this one isnt as complex coz it doesn't have the chip thingys which sorta pissed me off with RMNT but who cares.Id advise any Rockman lovers to buy this it Rocks! but some of the bosses are so gay like tornado tonion but the shooting and slashing is so fun you have to try it out i recommend it! |

A new look, but still Megaman | 3.5 0 comments |
by Epsalon X from Draygonia, , City of Dragons | Jun 1, 2004 |
THE GOOD: 3D Graphics, good soundtrack, Old and New Characters X & Zero Playable, along with a new character, AxlTHE BAD: Too short Not much to search for in levels Reploid system is really frustrating SUMMARY: Megaman X7 introduces a new character into the X plot by the name of Axl. Axl is a new, mysterious reploid with the ability to copy enemy abilities and assimilate their forms. Besides this though, his abilitities are much like X's, minus the armor and charging abilitity.
X and Zero are playable again. The reploid system is back, and even more frustrating than it was in X6. The levels are relatively short, and there isn't really much to search for. Most of your powerups are gained by rescueing reploids.
This is the first Megaman X game to feature 3D graphics. But it is also unusual in the sense that as you progress through the game, it can switch between 2D mode and 3D mode. It all depends on where you are. The soundtrack of the game is really well made too. Just like for the other X games.
The game features 8 mavericks as usual, plus 3 final stages in the end. The plot itself is interesting, but not relatively new to those who have played even half of the other X games.
All in all, the game is still a decent buy for a hardcore Megaman X fan. |

THE GOOD: Axl,difficult bosses,Better graphics,Cell shading, weapons,Ride armorTHE BAD: The fact that axl is spelled axl shouldn't it be Axle? SUMMARY: This is probably the best X game except X6.There's actully a really good reason for DNA souls(morphing Axl) and the weapons are seriously improved and the ride armor is awsome! All the things i like about megaman and X games are made better in this game! The 3D mode works wonderfully and adds a REALLY difficult element to the game (even when the camera angle kills you.) and the enemies also became Way cooler (minus Tornado Tonion a clown onion?who thought of that?) And tricky stages (Cyber field) and sinister puzzles (oh i have to morph the cyber samurai THEN i can walk through that wall!)I'm adding .'s because i have to add more content it won't let me submit......... ..................... ........... ............ ......... ........ ............... .................. ............... .................... ...... ............ .......... ............. ....... ........... ........ ......... |

Wow Capcom! This game really sucks! =D | 1.7 0 comments |

THE GOOD: Sigma's bean-shaped head and the hilarious fight with him. THE BAD: Axl, gameplay and everything else. SUMMARY: Alright, this is one of the glitchest games I've played. Let's name some. 1.) When trying to kick on walls, it sometimes doesn't allow you to, and you plummet to your death. You might notice this a lot during the fight with Red. 2.) Sometimes, your character will get stuck on a wall when wall kicking and it looks as if they're having a seizure. Quick, someone call a doctor, only if it's X or Zero having the seizure. If it's Axl, just let him die. 3.) The strange cancellation of power shots. Occasionally when you try to shoot a power shot, it sometimes won't fire. ...Why? 4.) Sometimes when you shoot enemies, it doesn't hurt them.
That's enough of the glitches. I'm sure you're horrified by now. Let's just say this game is a bout as glitchy as Sonic Adventure2. That's some good news, isn't it. -_-
The game works okay in 2D however, in 3D, it's total crap. I would have enjoyed this game moderately if it had more 2D in it, but you mostly play it in 3D. Teh fun...-_- You run really, really, really slow in 3D. X could be in a race with an old man with a broken back and in desperate needs of a hip replacement and the old man would still beat X easily.
I had no idea what was going on during the boss fights, since the camera angles constantly felt the need to fight with me.
You've got some really stupid boss ideas in this game, and the fights seem to last forever. Here's an idea of how bad some of the bosses are. You have a Scottish accented onion, that likes to dance, and make tornadoes. Another boss is a fire-based hyena, who bitches at X about how he is causing him pain. You're shoulders are on *bleep*ing fire, genius! Maybe that's why you're in pain! The boss has two things he says, and says them repeatedly every 0.2 seconds. They are, "Burn!", and "Burn to the ground!" His voice is really annoying and you'll probably find yourself muting the T.V. after a couple of seconds of fighting him. Axl...aw yes. Axl, the dorkified Reploid. This guy's just *bleep*ing stupid. It can't be described in words. You just have to see it for yourself. X has impressive catch phrases such as, "Stop it!" when firing his power blast. -_- (Sarcasm.) When fighting bosses as Zero, you'll be swinging your sword like a blind old man trying to chase a hooligan off with your cane. Flame Hyenard or Red are perfect examples of this. X: "Zero! What the hell happened to you?! You halled ass with your saber and MMX6! What's the matter?! Zero: "I DON'T KNOW! I think it's because this is X7!" You also have a useless team selection in MegaManX7. You'll just be playing as X and Zero, and leave Axl (who fights like X accept worse) in the rejection pile. This game is hilarious. It isn't meant to be, but everything about it is. Especially...Sigma. Sigma apparently confesses his love to Zero and X. Here's exactly what Sigma says, "I will come back again and again! Until X and Zero are mine! Come and get me!" X_x...? The first place you fight Sigma appears as if it is inside an elevator. After you defeat Sigma in his first form, the loading screen pops up, and suddenly, X is standing on a a giant piece of scrap metal, over a outer-spacey blackholish thing. Suddenly Sigma slowly comes out of the blackhole and says, "Are you ready for the real thing?" The way Capcom designed X's standing posture made him appear as if he was just as confused as I was. So, the fight takes place. Sigma's attacks are best descibed as this. Look at me! I'm Sigma! I'm shooting a pink laser from my pelvis that looks like a pink dick! I'll smack you around with it! Look at me! I'm Sigma! I shoot green orbs that can never hit you if you run around on the tiny platform! Look at me! I'm Sigma! I shoot yellow balls of energy that try to home in on you but...don't hit you. Look at me! I'm Sigma! I can shoot fireballs from my mouth! X can blow them up with his pea shooter! I am so menacing! Look at me! I'm Sigma! All of my attacks suck, so I'm going to try and punch you! It's my best move! Yes, the only move that causes you to die is the punch which is easy to dodge. No surprise there. Sigma's second form looks like a toy, with his bean-shaped head pasted on it. One of my friends and I laughed at this hilarious fight. It was easy, and very underwhelming. MMX7 sucks fun factor wise. However, comedy wise, it blows Conker's Bad Fur Day away. |

So many good points outwieghed by the bad. | 2.5 0 comments |

THE GOOD: Most of the Graphics.
The Music.
Sigma, Alia and Vanishing Gungaroo have good voice overs.
Good difficulty - if a bit easy.
THE BAD: Lack of polish.
Overall bad voice overs.
Whacky controls in certain stages. SUMMARY: Storyline Overview:
A mysterious young Reploid (wait a minute… Reploids can be kids?) known as Axl has come to Maverick Hunter Zero for help.
He claims that a group of bounty hunters known as Red Alert are after him for his ability to copy Reploid’s appearances and powers. Meanwhile, Maverick Crime is on the rise, and where on earth is Megaman X?

Graphics:
I was initially impressed with the level of detail most of the graphics got. I also like cell shading period. That was of course before I got past the Introduction stage. I suddenly noticed that the characters have NO expression on their faces when talking, not even the movement of lips! Then when I died for the first time, I saw Zero turn into a circle. Oh come on, the Mavericks die better than that! Things got worse as I played through the game. The cut scenes turned out to be nothing more than enhanced versions of X5’s and X6’s, and considering the really cool introduction. It was disappointing, they could of least done what Sonic Adventure did, and did them with the in game engine.
And things got worse and worse. I found that stupidly, if a character fell off a platform and into a pit, he’d die like he normally did. Why not just have them drop? That’s way cooler to do! Characters started falling through things that look like their solid (that’s supposed to happen in Sonic Heroes… not this.), objects would disappear in thin air, right in front of your. Reploids you’re supposed to rescue TELEPORT IN. Well idiot… why teleport there in the first place if your in trouble? Enemy’s teleport in as well which kind of makes you wonder whether every little mechinoid on the planet can do the same. That “special effect” looks bad. On the plus side, apart from the player’s characters – everything really is nicely detailed, the Sub Bosses have to really be seen to believe – their awesome!

Gameplay:
The only problem I found in the controls, is that they take a heck of a long time to get used to. Also certain levels (Boarski’s for example) the controls are REALLY screwy. Oopsy daisy Capcom.
On the plus side, this has to be the only game to attempt to merge several game play types into one, without it being a party game. The stranded Megaman X side scroller is there, as is a 3rd person view, over head view, it even has a stage dedicated to Ride Armours! (I wondered how long it’d be before Capcom would do that.)
It is unfortunate that the engine used for X7 can’t handle much on screen action. All the segments are separated into different parts, and the load time is terrible. (This really should of went to the GameCube, that thing has no load time what-so-ever.) This might explain the teleporting in of enemies. The also requires you to rescue Reploids – getting so many will unlock the “hidden character”. Why is he hidden? I’ll give you my thought below.
The game does require you to use all of the characters to get through the levels – e.g you can’t just play as Zero, because he can’t defeat many of the flying enemies and sub bosses.
In fact its near impossible for him to defeat Sig.. I mean.. the final boss himself.)
You can’t also keep playing as Axl or “the hidden character” all the time, since Zero needs to make his double jump manovers in several places. You gotta mix.
The bosses though, are usually easily beaten with a single character (Splash Warfly comes down really quick with Zero, and Axl can easily take down Gorilla Stonekong.)
Contrary to what others say, the Camera isn’t that bad at all. Just annoying in certain spots.

Difficulty:
Only a few of the bosses are truly hard (Red Alert and Flame Hynard comes to mind), and that’s if you play as Axl and Zero only. Once you unlock X and get his armour pieces – hoo boy… its gets REALLY easy. He manages to take down the bosses that were difficult to Zero and Axl in no time. (Except Splash Warfly, where Zero kind of owns him.)
In fact, they made X a little TOO powerful. This really is the first Megaman X game were X starts off this powerful, and using the various upgrades, he takes things down in no time flat.
Some bosses don’t even DAMAGE X that much, and with upgrades – the only thing that’ll kill you is a pit and spikes. Seriously. This game soon becomes a very easy Megaman game.

Audio:
The music is EXCELLENT in this game. It’s really superb. Thumbs up the boss music’s and Vanishing Gungaroo’s stage. The only problem?
It’s too bloody quiet. It doesn’t sound like game music when it’s this quiet; it sounds like your sister playing music in the other room, not coming out of the TV.
Do yourself a favour and find the soundtrack or something.
Now others have said this, and I’m going to repeat it – The voiceovers are bad. They are really bad. They’re nearly as bad as Megaman 8’s. The worse ones are the main characters – X, Zero, and Axl. While Axl’s isn’t as bad (It’s just, a bit too childlike..), Zero is played by the same guy who does Knuckles (since when did Zero sound like Wolverine?), and as for X, he sounds like a guy during puberty and who’s about to jump off a bridge.
The characters all sprout voice clips during Gameplay, and X really is the worst. All you hear from him is “Stop it!” “Leave me alone” and “Lets all go for frosty chocolate milkshakes.” Ok he doesn’t do the last one, but it’s not that far off to what he says.
Other characters are even worse. It’s really annoying when you keep hearing a boss (who shall remain nameless.. Flame Hynard.) shout “Burn! Burn! Burn! BURN TO THE GROUND!” every other second. I am not kidding. Others sound totally inappropriate for the character (Splash Warfly should sound like a Samurai , not some surfer dude.).
That said, some are quite good. The actor who did Sigma REALLY nailed the spot. He sounds like Sigma should. Vanishing Gungaroo really has a kiddie Australian accent (like he should) and Alia sounds perfect. *Sigh* Why didn’t they get better actors for the rest of the cast? Also, in the European version – there’s NO OPTION to change the voices to Japanese. DAMN YOU CAPCOM OF EUROPE.
As for sound effects. I barely noticed them. Which I suppose is a good thing.

Box Art:
European Version : I hate it. I really do. It’s terrible, all it is, is X standing in a generic pose on top of a sick coloured background. The Cd though is slightly better, which has a cool pose of Zero (wait a minute.. that pose is from Megaman X6!!) and is extremely colourful.

Final Thoughts:
This really could have been better. It’s not that the game itself is bad an all, because it IS enjoyable, but its SOOOO unpolished. Various control bugs ruin the experience in some levels (Boarski’s for example) and annoying auto aim system (Look X.. that enemy is RIGHT IN FRONT OF YOU!) spoil the actual game play.
Bad voice acting (Apart from Sigma and Alia… and strangly Vanishing Gungaroo, who are done well) and extremely quiet music ruin the audio.
The very fact that you can’t even play as X at the start of the game makes it feel like “Zero and Axl 7” rather than “Megaman X7”.
It’s certainly not the worse Megaman game that’s came out of Capcom, (I think Megaman X6 should get that vote..) but its not what I was hoping for.
Coupled by the fact I had to wait months for it to come over here in Europe, I was REALLY disappointed.
So many good points balanced by so many bad ones make this game feel average.
Capcom’s getting sloppy. This game is certainly a Megaman fan’s only game. |

One of the best MegaMan X games that I have played! | 5.0 0 comments |
by Dane Hammond from Somerset, NJ | Feb 15, 2004 |
THE GOOD: The character switching, upgrading your abilities with chips, the battle with Sigma (it's really cool!)THE BAD: The Ultimate Armor isn't available in this X installment. SUMMARY: MegaMan X7 is a great installment in the X series. I really enjoy the gameplay and X is better than ever! Throughout the whole game, I just use X because he is the best out of the three once you max out all of his abilities. And the battle against Sigma? Boy, I always get a kick out of that battle! Even though it doesn't take place on the ground, it really isn't that hard. You just have to memorize the movements that Sigma makes and it will be possible to avoid many attacks. |

Wasn't this supposed to be the MMx game to end all? | 2.0 0 comments |
by Raging tiger from , , | Nov 17, 2003 |
THE GOOD: +Same classic action.
+Character switch works really well.
THE BAD: -Horrible camera angles.
-3D mode doesn't work all that well.
-Load times!?
-LONG load times!?
- Maddening abysmal voice acting.
- Crap story.
-Almost nothing new.
-The formula is getting old.
- Will only appeal to MMX fans and will bring no new comers.
- Below adverage graphics.
- Very poor sound
-Not as good as some of the 2d games. SUMMARY: Mega Man x is 3d now! And how utterly unimpersive he is!
Devil may cry marked capcoms future of faced paced 3d games. the game had many inspirations from the MMX series and that excited me seeing as devil may cry played somewhat like a MMX game, perhaps X7 will rock! Sadly it doesn't. What makes no sense is that seeing as DMC has alot of control inspirations from MMX, why is that a much better game than this?
Mega man x 7 returns alot of mostly the same damn thing, and returns it worse than before in some cases. While playing in 3d mode i often wondered what's the point. It's not as good as in 2d mode, and it controls mostly the same. so why did they add it in? A pathetic excuse for them to call it "X's first trip into 3d" maybe? The camera is horrible, onnly giving you s lightly overhead veiw the game does not alot you to see, or lock onto to things that are not on camera. This. is . a. pain.
Btw: Did I mention the lock on system is a sloppy piece of crap? You usually never lock on to the intended object.
Zero is nearly usless in this game, and that sucks becuase I like zero. And while I'm on the subject let's talk about the character switch option. Yuo choose from x, zero or axl (go I hate him) at the before starting a stage. You select two and go through a stage switching whenever you want. Supringly this system works really well....but after you get X you're more than likely going to play as Axl and x and completly ignore poor Zero unless you're looking for a challenge.
And why isn't X playable from the start!?
Now on to the presentation and story. to put it simple there's nothing impressive in this catogory. The story is the worst yet in the series, the sound is poor and the voice acting will drive you nuts.
Other than all that, not much has changed. you still have to save thoose annoying reploids, you still find armor parts. It plays alot like the 2d games....only with more annoyances like the terrible camera, how the characters walk really slow now, and the collision effect with the enemies is poorly done. You are no longer forced back when touching an enemy....now you fall falt on your back and sit right next to them. this is really annoying.
So how are the reccomendations? If you're a mmx fan there's plenty here to keep you coming back. Everyone else.....this game is mediocre. the game should've and could've been much better than it is. |

Most Innovative of the series, pretty hard too | 3.7 0 comments |
by Smoke N a Pancake from Sacramento, , USA | Nov 6, 2003 |
THE GOOD: The game introduces a new character, Axl, wcho has some mice abilities. The game isn't as easy to beat as the previous few, and will take more than just a few hours to successfully complete. The game also has good replay value, as there are three different endings and a new game+ option. (load from the save that you completed to activate it.)THE BAD: The game is actually very difficult, and unless you really have a lot of time on your hands and are very patient, it isn't the best for you.
X is a little whiny this time around, and in the cut scenes the english voices are horrible. Luckily you have the option to play the japanese voices to relieve your ears. SUMMARY: The game introduces Cell shaded graphics, and although many people may feel that it is betraying the good old 2 dimensional sprites, CAPCOM actually did a good job at executing it.
The gae is very difficult, and you may not want to play it if you are new to the X series or have a short temper.
The new character, Axl, is pretty well balanced, but you don't get to start with X and have to rescue repoids to be able to have acess to him.
Chip parts are once again available, but are a little simpler to understand than in X6.
Overall, a great looking game with a high level of difficulty. |

X7 Flawless or Useless? | 2.5 0 comments |
by Excalibur
| Oct 26, 2003 |
THE GOOD: Megaman X7 takes along certain years after the X6 incident, You start the game as Axl, a new character, he has certain aspects as X does, Zero is also playable his Z saber still looks like a ligtsaber badass weapon to use, also he and Axl get certain weapons to use as well, a javelin and a bazooka for some examples.
Yes, X is playable as well, but not till later in the game, but his arrival is to be thanked for, i like using him because his buster and armor really make it a enjoyable time in the game. but sometimes even with that is difficult.
New cel shaded graphics and its 2-d to 3-d gameplay offers great criteria when battling enemies such as ride armors.
In addition this game still uses the reploid rescue feature, and some can give you chips to increase a characters power, like X-30% power plus or super recover for example. THE BAD: Although we waited a looooong time for the release, was it really a big comeback you say? im afraid it wasnt much for me...
One thing, the angles of the camera made it really annoying to navigate through, like finding reploids.
yes we are american but its always better to switch the dialouges to japanesse, even when fighting the bosses, it makes you want to put mute to just make that annoying voice to shut up lol.
When it comes to the characters, Zero has been scratched from his bad ass to a useless character in many battles, the only thing you could find usefull is to use his weapons in boss battles, since most never run of of energy.
The storyline isnt as serious as in X or X4 chapters, but yes,..............Sigma is still to be the special "comeback applause" but dont let this underestimate you, i promise you, he wont be a pushover. SUMMARY: Graphics - from 2d animation to 3d platform. I really like the game's evolution to new heights.
Sound - The music isnt as good as previous X's but the voices will really make your head bang the wall when there isnt a cutscene cancelations in the game either...
Gameplay - Its very fun and exciting to slice and dice or blast your way through these levels, but it's als a huge challenge to over come as well, good luck!
Ex's comment's:
The game wasnt a huge hit as it promised it was, but still please play the game if either a megaman veteran or a newbie, because this is just a start to the new age of Megaman!
thanks for viewing!
