THE GOOD: Outstanding graphics, cut scenes, gameplay, sound, vehicles, weapons, Racing has been added.THE BAD: some small glitches, if you have a good pc, the pc version can be better. No free ride extreme. Another feature with the pc version thats is sadly not on the ps2 version is that you cannot turn your car on and off (small, but gives it that realistic touch) SUMMARY: Set in the 30's this great game starts with Tommy Angelo as a taxi driver, earning poor money, working from dusk til dawn. He then becomes involved in the Mafia until finally, his boss wants to rub him out. So Tommy goes to the chief of police and tells his story of working for his boss Salieri, (where you start and do all these missions.)
I would also say that this game is far more realistic than GTA or True Crime, there is no room for Mini Guns and/or rocket launchers in your front pocket.
The ps2 version has some things in it that are better than the pc version and vice versa, overall, this is a great game and definately worth purchasing. |

THE GOOD: excellent story and mission varietyTHE BAD: Fluctuating diffuculty and cheap enemies SUMMARY: Set in 1930s New York City-esque Lost Heaven--complete with innacureate guns and cars that struggle to break 50mph--Mafia tells the tale of an enterprising cabbie's rise through the ranks of the mov (via Grand Theft Auto-style car-based missions and third-person shooting action) and his subsequent attempt to rat out The Family. Which, as the canon of mob movies has taught me, is heavily frowned upon. The excellent cut-scenes and score combine to set a wonderful mood, but right as you're cruising through the game's impressive variety of tasks, it all comes to a sscreeching halt. Highly frustarating missions pepper the game, usually filled with cheap enemies who have impeccable aim and a superhuman ability to absorb multiple shotgun blasts at point-blank range. When driving, buildings and other scenery appear from out of nowhere, while cars and pedestrians sometimes dissapear if you switch from the front view to the rear and back again, which really makes Mafia feel like the two-year-old PC port it is. Still, the story should keep dedicated gamers going; just don't expect gameplay to match. |

THE GOOD: - lots of cool looking vehicles to choose from. - the story is very intresting. - the town is pretty big. - good choise of weapons. - good graphics.THE BAD: - the game was kind of short. - nothing fun to do after you beat the game. SUMMARY: Mafia is the best game where you can get a good look at what its like to be in the Mafia. From killing your rivals to protect your friends. In the game you start out as a Taxi driver but as you progress throught the game you become a more respected Mafia member. The game is very exciting and very fun. The story line is so good that it like wraps you in that you cant stop playing till you reach the end to find out what happens. The story line is one of the best that I have seen but the only thing that sucks about it is that its not very long. There are long 22 missions. They arent like GTA missions, the Mafia missions are twise to three times bigger that the GTA or True Crime: Streets of LA missions. They are very fun and ther is a lot of action in the missions from blowing up stuff to chasing down people that are trying to bring down your bussiness. The next best thing about this game is the vehicles. There are a lot of vehicles to choose from. At first there are few but as you prgress throught the game more and more get unlocked. There are not many weapons in the game but the ones that are in the game are great like the Tommy Gun or the Spaz Shot gun. The graphics are very good and the cut scenes are the best thing ever created so you want be dissapointed of them. Now for the bad things. One of the things that sucks about the game is that there is nothing to do after you beat the game except to drive around the town and shoot people from the mafia that walk on the street. The other thing is that the story line is kind of short. Overall the game is very good. I dont think its worth buying but its defiantly worth renting. The game is not very long but its a very good play. |
