THE GOOD: Beautiful graphics. The combat gets so violent and action packed. The glare of the explosions makes the graphics have one of the best advantages against most racing games with the same concept. I think this is better than Twisted Metal could ever be.
The voice overs are again, superb. Michael Erwin's voice is just what I pictured Jak's to be when Jak II came out. And I'm glad they actually got someone to fill his position.
Apart from Jak's voice, tara Strong reprises her role as Keira. In fact, everyone has the same voice. The actors' and actresses' voices were all well chosen. This is only the beginning of how well the sound is. The soundtrack is fantastic. It supports songs done by hard rock bands, Queens of the Stone Age and A Perfect Circle. The sound effects are overall, well done as well. The firing of rocket launchers, land mines and machine guns are what made me excited while playing this well thought out Jak spinoff. The plot twists are few, yes, but they are clever as well. Especially the revealing of Mizo and the ending. My stupid friend actually had a black enough heart to spoil this for me. >.<
THE BAD: Mediocre story line. It has you racing for your life against several racers. If you are to lose, then you are to die. Krew's death resolved in a get-together for his speech and will. It turns out that he poisoned the wine and to reveal the cure, he advises Jak to compete in the Kras City Racing Tournament.
There's nothing really bad about this title except that its story wasn't as involving as the other games. I only wish Naughty Dog would've taken its time to create another Jak adventure. I miss Jak running around and blowing things up with his array of weapons. >.< A few characters haven't made an appearance in this one either. Tess makes a very slight appearance in a ten second cut scene towards the end and Count Veger is no where to be found.
SUMMARY: I loved this game. (I have yet to beat it) Its very challenging. But its a great choice for a racing experienced gamer who wants some action. Twisted Metal fans will be amazed as well. Overall its better than the first Jak and Daxter. But not as great as Jak II and not nearly as great as Jak 3. Choose wisely and have a fun time blowing the hell out of race cars.
