SUMMARY:
The sequel to Mobile Suit Gundam: Federation vs. Zeon is Mobile Suit Gundam: Gundam vs. Zeta Gundam. Phew, that's a lot of Gundam. The gameplay is very addicting and one can obviously see why, it's an arcade port. Seeing as how arcade machines are designed to eat your quarters this game must obviously be addicting. The gameplay is quite simplistic as I have said before. The square button is your main weapon, R1 is your sub-weapon, X is boost, O is target, and triangle is melee weapon. You also can use the D-pad or analog stick (I prefer D-pad) to move and most importantly dash. Dash could also be called "dodge" seeing as how that its actually what it is used for. If an enemy is firing a beam at you all you have to do is tap the D-pad in one direction twice to completely dodge the attack. Yes, that is quite simple. Although as you play the game you realize that there are more efficient ways of destroying enemy MS such as conserving your ammunition, properly using melee attacks, and killing enemy MS on the fly.

Many battles are conducted through a gauge/meter that represents the battle strength of you and your enemies forces. Each mobile suit/mobile armor has a type of "cost". This cost represents how much it costs is taken away from the battle gauge if and when the unit is destroyed. For example, an MS costs 195 and the gauge is 600. When that MS is destroyed the gauge is subtracted by 195 leaving you with 405. This means that you can die a number of 2 more times before you fail the mission. The battle gauge is primarily the deciding factor to whether you win or lose in a mission. Other objectives include, escorting things, keeping allies alive, or lasting for a set duration.

The choice of MS includes all from FvZ and new MS from the Zeta Gundam series. For the most part the older mobile suits are pretty much the same. Only some minor number of MS have tweaked costs to round-out with the technically superior Zeta Era MS. U.C. Mode is quite tedious if I do say so myself. I would have much rather they kept Campaign mode from FvZ. UC mode is where you assume the role of a character of the Gundam Universe and progress through missions and certain routes. The reason that this is tedious is because more than 85% of the missions are in every characters mission path, so that means your playing the same thing over and over. The cream of the crop in my opinoin, is Survival mode. This is quite challenging, it is a sort of endurance. You face random enemy units and must deplete their battle gauge to advance to the next level. Every level you regain 100 on your battle gauge and if you complete Boss Stage you regain 300. A Boss appears every 5 levels. This is a very fun co-op mode. Other modes include Arcade, Training, Versus, and Gallery mode in which you purchase viewable and unlockable items to further your Gundam experience.

Overall, this a spectacular Gundam game. Although, this game may not for non-fans of the series. Despite that I believe with time anyone can enjoy this game for its simplistic and addicting gameplay.
