This was my first game to play on the PS2 and to this day I still believe it's one of the best, only beaten by GT4. To those of you not familiar with the series, GT3 is not like any other Racing Game. You can't expect to win a race simply by holding X as hard as you can all the way around the track. This is a simulator which means that it simulates real life. And it does this to perfection...or so I think (I never actually drove a Viper at 200M/ph so I've nothing to compare it with). However, every car feels different then the last. Not happy with your top speed? Simply adjust the Gear Ratio to increase your speed. Each car (and there are 100s to choose from) has different characteristics, some are fast around corners but slow on the straight and some struggle to keep on track when going around bends but catch up again on the straight.
Graphically GT3 is Superb. It was the best looking game of it's time and even now when I look back at it, it's still a...
THE GOOD: This game has everything. Graphics, gameplay, sound.....the lot. Everything that is vital in a game is here.
THE BAD: Nothing bad about this game at all. Well nothing that I can find anyway. Well nothing ANYONE can find.
SUMMARY: This game is brilliant. The slogan 'The Real Driving Simulator' is exactly what it is. The fact that you can change parts of cars, settings etc.. makes it even more of a challenge to find out what the highest speed that you can get with your car is.
Gran Turismo mode is in a league of it's own. Apart from just winning races and buying and selling and tuning cars, you get to change the oil, wash it, give it test runs etc... And afterwards if you get bored which you probably will not you can do some rally races which is always a laugh....
THE GOOD: Tons of cars, really fun to race in tracks, graphics were top-notch for the time of its release, realistic racing since you need licences for certain races, it can be a challange, and not a game that you can beat and will throw away, it is also fun regardless of playing it alone, or multiplayer.
THE BAD: Nothing that I can really see.
SUMMARY: This by far (of the time of release) is one of the best racing, and if not, then the best racing game created. It is not like Midnight Club with nos and extremely easy handling, but rather, you will have to slow down and make the correct angled turns. This I say is what makes this game unique and very versatile, for different cars have different handling. You could also tune up your car and make it have all the fancy engines and tires that you want. There are lots of tournaments that you could take place in, but it also has certain requirements, so that u wont be able to immediately choose the...
THE GOOD: Has loads and loads of cars and tracks to race through.
THE BAD: It was an early game so the graphics arn't that great.
SUMMARY: Gran Turismo 3 A-spec is the only really serious racing game that i like. There are hundreds of cars that you can choose from and you can tune them up too. There are also alot of famous racing tracks featured from all around the world. This was one of the first game on the Playstation 2 and my first game on that console so it lacks a little in graphics but still nothing that can affect the game. The music is really good and features artists such as Feeder playing the music. There are many races to play through and the game to get all gold trophys takes years to do, i have had this for over 3 years now and i'm only 90% of the way through it.
Overall this is the best serious racing game out there and i reccomend it.
SUMMARY: GRAPHICS: 10/10 well this was an early PS2 game I admit trees and stuff are 2d but the graphics were the best of anything up til then. SOUND/MUSIC: 8/10 The In-Game sounds are great but the music in the game is digusting. GAMEPLAY: 10/10 The game is so Realistic its amazing. Requires a lot more time getting used to than other racing games and the customisation is Very advanced and you won't know what you're doing unless you know a bit about cars. Vehicles: 10/10 a whole heap, over 150 of real cars including Formula 1's. they make the game easy though. and Make restricted Cups extremely hard. TRACKS: 9/10 There are quite a few and they are mainly pretty good. some tracks are horrible to do long races on ie. Test track EXCITEMENT: 8/10 Not the most exciting racing game in the world, speed blur is very slight and not adrenalising (if thats a word) Still fun enough...
THE GOOD: >Graphics >HUGE range of cars >So many different leagues and races >Lots of levels >Takes a long time to clock so you get your money's worth
THE BAD: >Takes a long time to get started >License tests
SUMMARY: The Ultimate Driving Experience. That is until Gran Turismo 4 comes out. Some of the best car graphics ever combined with the many hundreds of cars make for a truly exceptional game. There are so many different leagues and levels to race in and so much money to be won. As in every racing game you start off with some slow, cruddy piece of junk, but as you progress and start to win more races, you start getting money which means you can buy more cars. If you're the type that likes to conserve money, you can win cars by winning races as well. A great driving game at a great price.
THE GOOD: Lot's of fully licensed cars, super cars etc very realistic driving will last you a LONG time
THE BAD: Some of the licenses (which you are required to do to progress in the game) are very difficult, but after about 50 attempts you'll get all of them in the end. No Ferarris or Lamborghinis <img src="/sad.gif" border=0 vspace=2> No car damage The endurance races take aaaages
SUMMARY: This is, in my opinion, STILL the best driving game out there on the PS2 until Gran Turismo 4 comes out. There are literally HUNDREDS of real cars to drive. The career mode is very cool. You start out as a racer with enough money to buy one relatively slow car. With this car that you buy, you can enter into races and tournaments to win money to soup up your car, and eventually buy new cars. As you get further in the game, you will win cars and money as prizes for winning tournaments. The racing itself, aside from the fact...
THE GOOD: Mainly everything. If you are good, it will take you 100+ hours, if not more, to beat this. So you don't have to worry about how long the game is, graphics are stunning...
THE BAD: AI could be improved a little bit.
SUMMARY: One of the very first games on the PS2, Gran Turismo 3, is still the king of all racing games, let alone all Playstation games. Nearly 185 cars, over 120 races, and many different tuning accessories brings this great game to the market, Polyphony Digital has created this legend, and recognizes that this may be a good omen for the future. You start out with 18,000 Credits, but you have about ten cars to choose from. Sadly, used cars were not in this one, so you can't have as much to choose from as GT2, and the licenses are as difficult, if not, more difficult than GT2s. All bundled up to one package is GT3, and I believe that everyone should give this a try, racing fan or not, this is a definite classic.
THE GOOD: cars are so life like even shows stats for cars the graphics are the best ive seen in a ps2 game made before 2004 if anyone would like to tell me a better game im open for suggestions wide varieties of wheels u can buy
THE BAD: s licence almost impossible to beat have to have perfect turning and speed
SUMMARY: whoever whines about having to have so much money for turbocharged cars are idiots if u whine about it dont play the game the people that made it are much smarter than u and i dont think theres any racing game better than gt3 up to date im sure that #4 is gonna be much better ive had # 3 for about a year and 3 months but ive only played it about 9 months and it was worth it im 79% through the game and i have about a 100 cars all of them are sweet most of them the best cars u can get the courses are so well set up and the cars come with life like features like logos on race cars and all the next best game is nfsu which...
