SUMMARY:
For starters, yes, I AM a fan of Ghost in the Shell, all mediums, in fact. I try not to be biased, but when you're a rabid fangirl, it's hard.
Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex is not a nasty cash-in. It is actually a quite decent game. Gameplay is smooth, graphics are good, and it even has the same voice artists as the TV series.
Once you get the hang of all the different button functions, gameplay is simple and almost intuitive. If not, you can always change the controls in the options menu.
Looking at it, you quickly realize that it's not reaching the pinnacle of graphics, but...
