THE GOOD:
Graphics, Storyline and the game's locatiion.

THE BAD:
There are barely any good cars and there are not many choices at all. There are very little amount of weapons and there are a few glitches and nips.

SUMMARY:

This game is very similar to the gameplay of the Grand Theft Auto games.
The game takes place in London. Your wife has been murdered and your son has been kidnapped and you have to do jobs for an old friend to get back your son.
Over 40 sq. km of London has been re-created in great graphic form and put inot the game. You can Jack any car from the streets. There are designed sets and 24 missions in this beautiful game. The game hold Digital Control and vibration function along with presure sensitivity and anolog control. There are 2 playable characters in the game, the starting character and a vigilante. The game is very difficult. You'll need to use stealth around corners to evade or attack your enemies in a war welcoming state and of course being able to get past the coppers!
The Geatway has a 2nd installment out right now.
The getaway is rated M for Mature and contains
Blood, Drug references, Strong Language, Strong Sexual content, Nudity, and much violence. Deffinetly not recommended under the age of 17. This was a geat game for me and I loved it, and you will to! (If you get it) So just get it and you'll see that it's a reat game!

THE GOOD:
Realistic Scenery of London.
Good Story line from 2 peoples perspectives.
Movie Style.
Nothing like GTA.

THE BAD:
Too much violence which is just not needed for a video game.
Nothing to make you keep playing after you complete the game.
Its a very emotional story line in some places (wheres the humour).
Bad character handling.

SUMMARY:
Overall this Game is fair, I call it fair as I think there are many things which should of been sorted out with the gameplay before the release. Un-needed violence (not needed for a video game)E.G Torturing ect. And the lack of not really having much to do after you have finished the story line missions just makes the game boring and it ends up at the back of the shelf.

Graphics: 4.6/5

Gameplay: 3.6/5

Sound: 4.6/5

Story Line: 4.4/5

Overall: 4.0

THE GOOD:
- Engine has potential for future games
- Nice cinematics
- good, but hard to understand the dialogue

THE BAD:
- bad controls
- a few missions are really frustrating
- very linear
- violence is over the top

SUMMARY:
In my opinion the Getaway was a success. However it lack the bite GTA had. In my opinion there was potential in how Team Soho went about developing the Getaway. What i admired was them going ahead and not using a HUD or visual aides for the gamer. I think this was ahead of its time for games. I played so many games where the developers put aides to help you progress. In my opinion they get in the way and make the game easier than it should be. Take for example crazy taxi series. All i remember it most for is following the "idiot arrow" and not its strengths. However saying this..in my opinion the Getaway was just too fast paced for what team soho tried to achieve. Without any HUD i was rushed into doing things..in at times lead to frustration. This is because the game is controlled by a storyline..where for one half of game your character Mark Hammond is controlled by Charlie Jolson. Charlie makes you do task for him to restore his king pin reputation in the london crime scene. This requires you at times to drive fast and furious through unknown streets and shoot copius amount of people. It can be easy, but when its frustrating..its really frustraing at times. In my opinion Team Soho could have made the storyline alot slower to give the player more time to get used to the surroundings..abit like GTA. Instead we are forced to drive from point a to b not knowing where we are going (unless your a london local). Team soho gives us something to indicated where to go, with turn indicators on the cars telling us in which direction the destination is. once i got through some frustrating parts..the storyline wasn't too bad..in that as a gameplayer you really wanted to find out what happens next. There are some fun and intense part of the game.

I just hope in the future they can tone done the violence ie you don't have to kill 100 people type of thing and make the environments and pedestrians more interactable and make the game alot more open ended in that it gives player alot of time to familiarise themselves with the city or areas. If they do this i'm sure it will give GTA a big run for its money.

THE GOOD:
Graphics, Story lines, realism, cars.

THE BAD:
The map, speed of vehicles.

SUMMARY:
The game has GREAT graphics, story lines, cars and realism. But is it too realistic? Well, it kinda is and kinda isn't. I mean, you can kill people by shooting them, KOing them, running them down or even breaking their necks! But, unlike in other games, it doesn't take much for you to die. It only takes about 3 gun shots before you're severly injured. But you can regain some of your health, just lean up against a wall and wait until he isn't leaning against it. The story lines are brilliant and get quite interesting. You're two characters, Mark Hammond and DC Carter. At the start, you play as Mark Hammond and your wife is murdered and your son is kidnapped. You then have to work for a crime lord to get your son back. Later on, you play as DC Carter. You have to kill the crime lord. The cars are pretty damn good. They look great but fails when it comes to speed. They're very slow in the story mode. And there are secret/hidden vehicles in the game. (Such as the Nissan Skyline GTR and the modified Peugeot 306). There are 12 in total. And the map isn't exactly helpful. But the game's good and certain missions are hard. Does it beat GTA though? Well, i'd say it has better missions. GTA's are far too easy. But you don't have to unlock free roam mode and there is lots more missions and things to do. So i think GTA is better but not by a heck of a lot.

THE GOOD:
its a great game, if you want free roam then just search a site or just enter (triangle, triangle, triangle, left, square, triangle, triangle, triangle, left, circle)this will give you free roam.enter it at the beggining of the bame when the music is playing and you are about to play.

THE BAD:
i found in free roam mode its annoying cos your not sure where to go for fun, like buckingham palace, where is that when your in the middle of china town?well the good thing is that in the english version you get a map so its not a problem, unless your me and have borrowed it, so all you do is ask a friend, scan it, copy it then paste it on a web page for everyone to get.i will be doing this in about 10 mins time so if you want it then you will have to try some means of contacting me through this user review thing we are on

SUMMARY:
oh there are also loads of hidden cars n stuff.like tanks and tvr's, lotus, go karts, golf buggies, pug 306 modified, there is more fun on this game than most people think, just surf around you'll find out

THE GOOD:
The good here is the gameplay. It'll take time for sure, but, given the time it's actually nice 'n' simple. Which is, 'good'.
At times, this can even out smoke GTA, because you want that realistic feel, not the comical phrases and crazy gameplay scenes.
The layout isn't all that bad, you know, no health bar, ammo bar, car damage. Nuffink. But, this looks and feels better at times.

THE BAD:
The stupid, silly, annoying swearing. But, it does give the game a more realistic feel.
The weapons are;
AK-47
Pistol
Shotgun
Police Baton
Crowbar
Baseball Bat.:- You do the math.

SUMMARY:
This is not GTA.
The gameplay is bad and good.
Weapons are limited. So are levels.
But they are hard.
Moves like grabbing someone from behind and halting the police in a hostage situation is great fun and eye candy.

PS2  The Getaway 4.1

THE GOOD:
Real cars, good story, real London, graphics, sound, quite alot.

THE BAD:
rare slowdown, tricky camera, slightly clumsy controls.

SUMMARY:
The Getaway is one of the more innovative games I have ever played.

Story- 10/10 Mark Hammond has just gotten out of the slam only to have his wife shot and die in his arms and his boy kidnapped. The only way to get his boy back to to perform a series of insane suicide missions for the local crime boss, Charlie Jolson. On the other side, Frank Carter is a renegade cop whose only concern is busting Charlie Jolson.

Gameplay- 8/10 Gameplay is a mixed bag. When it's good, it's really good. You play half the time as Mark Hammond and half the time as Frank Carter. You get thrown headlong into the action without a tutorial or anything. Until you learn your way around, you're at the mercy of the blinkers on your car, which are the only way to navigate the city. The system works surprisingy well, even though it can be a little frustrating. There are no on screen displays. You have to be attentive to your characters health, your blinkers(when driving), and your ammo count.

Visuals- 10/10 The Getaway is the Gran Turismo 3 of it's genre. The city is recreated down to almost photo-realistic quality. The real cars in the game look stunning. The damage models are very good. Glass can be busted or shot out. Blinkers go out if you slam the rear-end. Demage is done to almost all parts of the cars. The character animations are extremely life-like. Blood spots on walls appear behind the person who was shot. The story is moved along with cutscenes that look brilliant. The only bad thing is that the framerate is very liable to take a hit sometimes. The camera is a big unweildy inside in tight spaces too.

Controls- 7/10 The controls leave a little to be disired. The button set-up is good enough, but it is hard to control your character in tight spaces.

Audio- 9/10 The dialogue is extremely British. You will definately want to have a translator. It is full of British slang and swearing. The swearing is a bit on the excessive side but I wasn't that bothered by it.

Replay- 5/10 The Getaway is short. Make no mistake about it. There are 24 missions but they aren't really that long. I beat The Getaway in 15 hours over a five day rental. Once you beat the game, free roam is unlocked where you can go anywhere but it's in the eye of the beholder how long that can last.

Total- 8.9/10 The Getaway is one hell of a ride while it lasts. With it's picture-perfect graphics and engrossing storyline, it's hard not to like. It's not a Grand Theft What-o or a chessy ripoff. It's a game unlike anything ever seen before. Every PS2 owner should at least PLAY The Getaway. With it's shortness though, I don't see any reason to justify a buy. Overall outcome, RENT IT.

This is the first game I have seen, with real car names, such as Audi and Lexus. This awesome game takes place in London. Its about a character, Mark Hammond. His wife was shot in the street, and his son was kidnapped. He then chases the people down and then is on his way to rescue his son. This game is rather long, and after you finish it, theres Free Ride mode, where you can drive around the humoungous city without doing missions. The main game, which you do first, is mission after mission. You can't take breaks. Theres a few weapons that will keep you satisfied, and alot of cars. The missions are also pretty creative.

Graphics: 5.0/5.0 Buy it, you'll see what I mean. They actaully made fingers on the characters, and games usually don't do that.

Sound: 5.0/5.0 The voice acting is superb, and the the sounds of the city are good.

Fun: 4.5/5.0 This game doesn't let you roam the city on your own until you finish it. And once you get free ride, it gets pretty boring just driving around town.

Replay value: 4.5/5.0 You will not want to go back and finish the game again.

OVERALL SCORE: 4.0/5.0

PS2  Graphics ARE NOT everything! 1.0

THE GOOD:
The graphics.

THE BAD:
The camera angles, gameplay, controls, health system, and manual aim.

SUMMARY:
Ok, lets do the good first. Well basically all that I thought was good in this game was the graphics. The graphics were absolutely amazing. If your car got shot at and a window was hit you could see it. There would be a bullet hole and the window would spider web (looks cracked all over but does not break). If you shoot someone then you actually see their blood on the wall behind them. All of these things added to the appeal of the graphics, but lets face it graphics arent everything.

Now to the bad, this may take a little longer. Ok I thought this game needed A LOT of improvement on a few things such as the camera angles, game play, and controls.

So lets look at the Camera Angles first. Well I you like to be walking around, trying to find your way then the camera jerks and totally makes you lose your place then these camera angles are great for you. If not then you probably wont be too thrilled with the camera. Its very annoying to be walking then have the camera jerk to a totally different spot. It seems they wanted to make the camera stay within the room you are in, which is great, but they didnt make the camera angle switches fluid. The camera will suddenly jump from behind you to in front of you for no apparent reason.

Wow the Game play. This brings up two main issues I had with this game. The health regain system and manual aim. Well with the health in this game if you get hurt then you dont go and find health packs or anything, which is cool. So what they decided to do was an absolutely genius idea *sarcasm* they decided to make it to where you stand your character up against a wall and let him lean there for about a minute. This not only is time consuming but a very stupid idea, I myself would much rather have the health packs or at least bandages to temporarily heal yourself. Wow that seems like a good idea huh? Now that I am done complaining about that lets talk about the manual aim. Well it is horrible. This guy cannot even hold his gun steady most of the time. There is absolutely no crosshair. Which I think would be a good idea. Instead you basically look at the person and have the gun overlap them; myself I think a crosshair would be more precise. Also moving from one side of a doorway to the other is a little sluggish in a gun fight. I know there is auto-aim but that takes a lot of the fun out of them in my opinion.

So in conclusion I think you could have more fun playing with a fresh piece of dog feces. I do not recommend this game to anyone.
