THE GOOD: cool graphics,good transformations,great atacks,many modes and .............about EVERYTHING ELSE!GINYU HAS AN ATTACK BODYCHANGE,WHICH is daaaaaa bomb!THE BAD: not enough characters,like the rest of ginyu league,ss2goku,ss3,ss4 master roshi and a whole ot others.misses buu garlic jr.,gogeta,cooler,super buu,and the rest of the characters.the sagas too. SUMMARY: if you are into good fighting games,you gota get this game .the other dbz games have all characters but their graphics are not so good.sure,if you have a choice between this game and any other dragonballz game(dbz budokai 2,3),buy the latter but if the choice is between this and any other fighting game BUY THIS GAME,OR YOU MAY REPENT.(in 99% of the cases).just start unlocking the charaters and their skills,and you will not be able to put the gamepad down!!!!!! |

Fantastic Bragonball Z brawler. | 4.9 0 comments |
by Dark Spectre from Glasgow, , Scotland | Apr 19, 2005 |
THE GOOD: Superb graphics and mind blowing special attacks. The ability to transform with certain characters. Lots of game modes and features. Brilliant multiplayer mode. Everything else.THE BAD: Some characters I would've liked to see are missing. Here they are: The entire Ginyu force (other than Captain Ginyu), Master Roshi, The Buus, Bebidi, Garlic Junior and the Spice Boys, Dabura. SUMMARY: Despite some of the characters that are sadly missing, this is an incredibly enjoyable fighting game. Any fans of Dragonball, GT or Z will love this. I can't believe to tell you how satisfying it is to use 100% power Frieza to pummel your opponent to a pulp, then blast him/her with a massive energy beam. I haven't played Dragonball Z Budokai 2 or 3 yet, but after this I'm really looking forward to it. Buy this game, it's even cheaper now. |

Budokai | 4.5 0 comments |

THE GOOD: Lots of characters, it follows like exactly in the DBZ shows, the controls are easy and it’s a great fighting game.THE BAD: Some of it gets extremely easy.. I mean, REALLY easy(depending on how often you play though), some of it gets boring, and of course, if it’s a fighting game, then its too boring with only one player. SUMMARY: For a first time Dragonball Z game, Budokai I must say is great. There are lots of modes to play, and you have the option of playing through a lot of different game modes. There is a story mode where you can play as the desired character and actually go through the entire DBZ storyline, you have a tournament mode, and there are also lots of other various methods of gameplay. Its fun to play because there are nice combos for every different character. That brings me to my next point, which is the gameplay itself.
Another, or should I say the main fun part about this game is the combo’s and other type of attacks. You are available to do certain attacks, like a punch button several times and tehn hit the energy button, which would trigger a special attack. Other than that, most of the combos and gameplay is pretty damn boring. When you play it a few times, it gets tedious because its mostly the same thing over and over again. But anyways, the music is pretty boring anyways, so its nothing really spectacular.. But anyways, it’s a great game to get because its really fin and addicting. I would recommend anyone to get it or anything because it’s a great game, and its really, really fun if you’re into the DBZ type of games. |

DBZ:Budokai | 3.6 0 comments |
by son gohan from Dallas, TX, North America | Dec 7, 2004 |
THE GOOD: This is the game that started the entire budokai series and the first dbz game for the ps2 and game cube.THE BAD: nothing's bad with this game it was the first budokai. SUMMARY: This game is awesome it has all the DragonBallZ sagas from Saiyan all the way through Cell saga and it has ulternate endings for the story line and many good attacks that a character can use and has many good DragonBallZ characters from the series.This game started it all and now we are playing the last budokai game of the series DragonBallZ:Budokai 3.We are still hoping that there will ba another Budokai game in the series to continue after DragonBallZ:Budokai 3 and that it would finish the DragonBallZ Budokai series at the end of DragonBallGT,which we hope will have all the characters that we would have ever wanted in a DragonBallZ game. |

Why I Love DBZ Games! | 4.5 0 comments |
by imatramp from A Box, Essex, England | Oct 25, 2004 |
This is a simple thing, DBZ is a fighting genre, so this is a fighting game... It was the reason why I got into fighting games, before it was Tekken games that left me feeling like I wanted more, like the story was meant to go on futher... This just left me in awe...
.:: Graphics ::. The graphics are a 3D style much like other games, the shading on them is very detailed, I really like the SSJ hair and how in the edit caps menu you can change where the sahdow is to see the attiention to detail they made to it instead of just having some blocks darker than others...
4.2
.:: Gameplay ::.
The story mode is not as long as I wanted to be as it ends at the Cell Saga instead of going into Buu or GT... It keeps it going with the alternate storymodes where you can be the villian of each Saga, also you can go in an replay your favourite fights again without having to wade though all of the story like the final battle between Cell and SSJ2 Gohan 5.0
.:: Lifespan ::.
I beat this in under 3 days, but it was an enjoyable and quite long 3 days of non-stop playing, even after I beaat story mode I played it long after as the replay value was quite good and there was also a large tornement me and my friend Troy were doing between each other...
4.2
.:: Overall ::.
Unless you have a spare £40 to get Budokai 2 or 3 then get this instead, an instead classic shown by teh plattium status it was rewarded...

This isn't the BEST, not even GOOD! | 2.1 0 comments |

THE GOOD: -Most of the characters from the DBZ Series -The Storyline is pretty goodTHE BAD: -Graphics for 3D isn't good -Most of the moves don't look good with the light effects -Music isn't good -Most of the missions in the Story are really hard and the Tournament matches are hard -It pretty much isn't worth the time waste -Character match ups aren't good SUMMARY: For the first PS2 DBZ Game, it isn't very good. This game is overall bad! I could spend all night talking about it, but I want to finish it quick.This game's probably only good things are they have alot of the characters and the storyline is almost exact to the TV Series.
One thing I didn't like was the Character Fights, like if you're a DBZ Fan, you should know, Krillin Couldn't beat Goku in 1, 2, 3! Also in every game, Audio matters alot, and this game has horrible music. The game used to cost alot, and now it doesn't, but it's so hard and will spend most of your time up for nothing. |

Dbz budokai (its alright) | 3.0 0 comments |
by twinbladeshugo from Dallas, TX, usa | Jun 25, 2004 |
THE GOOD: graphics,character,multiplayer,and customzationTHE BAD: too short and too easy i beat this game in an hour and 1/2 SUMMARY: This is an ok game if i were to buy it it would be for multipalyer cause its like a dbz tekkan. the characters were good cause it had a wide varitey and the graphics were good, i likwd the capsule idea becasue not every can have the same moves and becauseits fun and you could use you memory card to play against your freinds and bust out a secret move. the storyline was good but it was too easy. The dragonball feature was cool the time i summoned the dragon was awsome. the th hercule sidequest was a ok you could play it when your wait for like food or somthing .so overall i would give this game a 6 out of 10. So if you are a dbz fan or just like fighting games i would buy this game. |

Plays with DBZ die hard fans emotions | 3.8 0 comments |
by Raijin1999 from , CA, USA | Jun 12, 2004 |
THE GOOD: Half made for die hards, half made for the new crowdTHE BAD: Half made for the new crowd, half made for die hards SUMMARY: I love Dragonball. I really do. I love it so effin' much that I learned Akira Toriyama's DBZ art style and created my own 3 series manga following...well, enough o' dat. What I also loved is how DBZ hit Cartoon Network like a rockhammer fist during 1996-1999 gaining much appeal and creating an awesome fanbase, as if the name dragonball didn't already have an underground cult following en masse even before that, but after that I began to realize over the years how the series was only being milked for money, bastards using 10-20 episode stretches over and over to gain and gain and gain, publicly ridiculing other stations that played anime/americanime trying to cash in on the hype, with lines like, "...C'mon, who's the one that brought you Dragonball?" ROT IN HELL TOM! In any case, I still loves my DB/DBZ. (I hate GT, for the same reason many fans hate it. It was created for money, and isn't something Toriyama had full involvement with. Anyway...)
I imported the japanese PS1 Ultimate Battle 22, GT Final Bout, and DBZ Legends (which I still call the greatest DBZ game to date), as well as bought a Super Famicom and imported all three budokai games, a korean? version of hyper dimension, super gokuden, and another one whose name i can't remember how to spell. I then went on to collect every NES DB/Z game and every gameboy advanced game, and nearly died of a heart attack when I got my mits on the 'now altered forever due to a cease and desist order by funimation' Quake III Arena DBZ Mod called Bid for Power. That was what I thought would be the best true 3D DBZ game in creation, until I heard that Budokai was coming out. I had seen the screenshots, and began to think it would be as bad as GT Final Bout was, but even so, the very day it came out, I took a bus at 11AM to the mall, bought the game, and rushed back being the geeky anime lover I am, to play. What I found was something with half good grace, and half corporate corruption!
Just kidding. What I noticed however, is something I should have picked up on much earlier. The game wasn't aimed fully towards die hard dbz fans and game players as I consider myself to be, rather, it's half aimed at us, and half aimed at this new seemingly a tag-along new age cartoon network edited dbz loving crowd. But I could live with that. It's not Jonny 6th graders fault he doesn't know jack shite about importing anime, or jack about japan and some of the great things created back east. And of course, though I hate money making wealthy bastards who make money for the sake of making it quickly and cheapshottingly (is that a word? It is now!), I do love the fact that these little kids and teens, who in this day and age no longer have Saturday morning cartoons in such wealth as I did back in the day, nor is there something as crazily being gathered up by children as the original power rangers, just this mind wiping Pokemon and Yu...*ugh, don't do it Raijin, don't play with letters here*...oh. Anyway, as I see it, BK1 is acceptable to both crowds, tame to the proir, but just hard enough for the latter crowd.
What I see is something that isn't a great fighter, not a great DBZ game, but one that is fun and acceptable. It has a storymode and original voice overs (not really original, but you get it) and enough cartoonyness without having to go all cel shaded on us, to be rightfully acceptable and worthy of a spot on even die hard dbz gamers could put on their shelves. The music isn't anything like the japanese originals I hold very dearly, but it fits the mood. The sound effects and voices are taken right from the dubbed show or made from scratch with the actors in a studio. The gameplay is very simple, there is relatively no learning curve, however what die hards have to look forward to (old game i know, new review, bear with it) is nicely modelled characters, and a heckuvvalot of them at that. While it may be very easy to beat any enemy into a pulp using the simple combat techniques, the real challenge comes from one mature mind well trained in the art of BK combat, going against another mature mind also well trained in the art of BK combat. Things begin to look a bit more DBZish that way. As it is, this game is only 20 bucks now, and though there is a sequel out with a few improvments, and needless cel shading (with black outlines over the characters that are way too damn thick) this one is worth having as it is the only one with a story mode that actually explains the dbz series and events up the the end of the cell saga.
That's my 4 cents. (hey, consider me generous, or an ass, or both) |

Dragon Ball Z | 3.0 0 comments |
by exsoldierCloudStrife from , , Germany | Mar 27, 2004 |
THE GOOD: Playing as Dragon Ball Z chaicters, and being Gohan 2 ^^THE BAD: This game was too easy and you could beat it in one day. SUMMARY: This game was pritty fun actually. Playing as the bad guys where really fun. Story mode is about the only fun thing on there, the chapionships where anyoing becuse charicters would just knok you out of the ring, when you where about to beat them. The two player mode was fun. I was also impressed on how you could play as two difrent Gohans, I prefered the teen Gohan becuse he is the only one on the game that can go Super Sayin 2. Although the first few levels where a little boring, when it got to the cell games, it got to be quite fun. The game's fighting style got a bit tedious and buton mashing. I over all give it a 6/10. |
