Dead to Rights

When Matrix revolutionised the movies it was only a matter of time when it'll be done in games too, i'm talking about slo-mo. yeah it looks cool and all, but lets stop copying popular titles because it's a big selling point at the time.
Although while Max Payne was awkward and figity DTR is more smooth and easier to control.
The graphics were a major let down, DTR is'nt that old, heck FFX was around at that time yet DTR looks worse then FFVII.
It has it's good points though like the disarm moves, they are awesome and original, same goes for Shadow the dog. You use the dog to sniff out explosives which was a good idea to add to the game.
While this is not a crap game I would still suggest you rent it, as it's not worth the E60 i payed for it.

THE GOOD:

A dog to play as
Some minigames
Various costumes
Good fighting moves
Good auto targeting

THE BAD:
Super duper fuzzy graphics
Gets painfully hard
Rubbish sniper rifles

SUMMARY:
This is not a bad game. It's very simiar to Max Payne the way you slow down and stuff. Story starts of you go to a construction site, you go on blasting though but then you find out that Jack's father died. Now it's up to Jack to find the killers and get some revenge. The bad thing about DTR is the graphics. It kinda looks like a PS2 launch title. Just looking at Jack shooting his guns, you can clearly see that the bullets are yellow strikes. Looks very rough around the edges aswell. The proper movie cutscenes look good but the rest of the graphics loses a big mark. The weapons are good apart from the sniper rifles. It takes about six shots to the head for someone to die. Stupid. But...

THE GOOD:
Gameplay is pretty good.
Graphics were excellent.
Weapons were not bad.
Having an attack dog was pretty good.

THE BAD:
Storyline i pretty overused but that doesnt matter that much.

SUMMARY:
The story is your father was killed and you need to figure out who did it. You are a cop but you get framed and are sent to jail. You have several things you need to do in order to break out including beating up several dozen inmates. The hand to hand combat is pretty good even with the limited moves you have. Using weapons is pretty good and there are several really awesome gun fights. Alot of the missions are really no that hard but then there are some spots where it is extrememly difficult. If you have patience the game is really simple to beat. There are also some places that you have to puzzle type things in order to move on in the game. You have to defuse a bomb which could prove time...

THE GOOD:
this game has excellent gameplay and graphics. the old fashioned weapons are pretty kool and the idea of having a police dog is great. the enemy a.i is incredible and the story line is kool. a framed cop that has to avenge his fathers death. thats a pretty kool story line. the guns are incredible. grenade launchers to submachine guns to akm assault rifles. different enmies in each level make a great variety of gameplay and the dialogue between jack and the bad guys is pretty kool too.

THE BAD:
the controls are pretty hard to get used to. thats about the only bad thing about this game.

SUMMARY:
you should definetly buy this game. you will be very satisfied with the great 15 chapter of gameplay. there are 17 different awesome weapons and some koll disarms and puch kick combos. there is a variety of things you will find great about this game.

THE GOOD:
-Difficulty is adjusted and much easier to work with in PS2 version
-One word: disarms
-Gameplay is so simple, a child could pick up and play this game...but you might want to rethink that
-Incredible story stripped from an action movie
-Adrenaline is cool

THE BAD:
-Linear passage through the game is tiring
-Multiple minigames slow the action of the game down
-On "Rookie", the game is so blindingly easy I beat it in 72 hours
-Auto-aiming takes all skill out of the game

SUMMARY:
Well, Dead to Rights may be one of the most insensitive games I have ever played. And I enjoyed every minute of it. The multitude of weapons, disarm moves, and the ability to use my dog Shadow to take out enemies never ceased to amaze me and offer creative ways to take out a room of enemies. many things! graphics are almost as ps1 games, the game is no more than shotting and solving ordinary puzzles.

SUMMARY:
When I got this game, I thougt I was getting one of those new and good action games, but it is one of the worst ps2 games I ever know. The graphics are horrible, the gameplay is just the same shooting all the game,the puzzles, such as disarm bombs and picklocking are almost funny, so ridiculous they are. Don´t buy it, there are many good action games in ps2, and this certainly is not one of them.

Pros

Namco has their biggest hit...since, well probably tekken. DTR only has one mode to play but the missions are really fun to do and each one has something new. In DTR you get to shoot from Helicopters, control your dog; Shadow, Dance as a stripper, (which is reason enough to get it) and much more. Also has the best beginning I've seen on any game ever.



Cons

It Could use A multiplayer to give it a lttle more life but other than that the game is almost perfect.

BUT! I must say, I am more of a fan of DTR then Max P.
The only reason I say this is because I love dogs and you get to use Jack's K-9 partner in DTR. Dead to Rights is a really short game (15 levels that go by really quick) and once you beat it..why play it again? no reason to...I am here to say: DO NOT BUY THIS GAME!! it is well worth a rent..but dont purchase it, I made that mistake and now it is collecting dust on my CD rack (I might go pawn it..hmmm...). All in all, this game is good. It has its fun parts and it has its hard parts (*hint hint* the part where you are being drowned...i about put blisters on my fingers doing that) Shadow was a HUGE plus in the game and using people as human shields was cool. But yes, I do regret spending $50.00 on it. But, oh well.
