SUMMARY:
++DARKWATCH: Curse Of The West (PS2)
DARKWATCH: Curse Of The West, the debut title from Sammy Studios Internal development, is a cinematic 1st person shooter (FPS) with an original premise that blends Vampire-horror and Western genres. I am going to tell you this unbiased & spoiler-free review of the PS2 FPS(1st Person Shooter)/action-adventure/horror/western game- 'Darkwatch: Curse Of the West' to help you in making the right decision about buying/renting this game.
THE BAD:
- Short game time
- Linear gameplay
- Repetitive obstacles
- Rushed story
SUMMARY:
For a First Person shooter, this game really knows how to skip a story. To be honest, they could've done a much better job on the storyline and aim sighting. It did a hell of a job in the dark environment and creative enemies. After that, it sometimes does feel like a chore to go through some of the most painful areas of the game like "DeadFall" or "The Right Train" chapters. You gotta have patience of course...not much to explore really...
Other than that, the shootouts are pretty good, it gives a pretty good challenge when you have enemies that rarely miss fire upon you from all sides, and not to mention that if you don't take cover quickly, you're pretty much...
THE BAD:
-Lack of replayability
-Lack of challenge
-All too short
-New ideas not integral enough
SUMMARY:
Darkwatch unfortunately just falls short of being a great first-person shooter. It does a lot of things right, but its biggest strength is also its biggest weakness - it's a no-brainer shooter, and it's all over too soon.
Unlike most FPSs, enemies in Darkwatch will generally not shoot you. Instead, you'll be facing huge numbers of crazy undead warriors, running towards you armed with crooked blades and all manners of nasty weaponry. Although this is very cool for a while, it soon becomes all too easy, and the reality kicks in that all you've been doing is shooting moving...
